Hate to rain on y'all parade but...... We are not very good.
How embarrassing for Dallas then since you’ve plastered the city’s name across the chests of your “not very good” team…well, it would be embarrassing if anyone was ever there to see it

2007 - Oklahoma State
2010 - Texas Tech
2018 - San Francisco
2022 - LA Tech
2024 - SMU
In that span we also lost a few in front of big (6K+) crowds:
2011 - LSU
2012 - ULL
2019 - WKU
I’m talking about North Texas across the board, football included.

One of the things I have hated for YEARS, and discussed with other fans, is that we have a “tradition” of:
- Hyping up big games, and
- Having a chance to really make a statement, and
- Pulling in big crowds, and
- Crapping the bed
Last night we had a great atmosphere, showed everyone a great game…and WON!
That is huge because that is how you turn people who are just there for the novelty into people who want to come back consistently. The group sitting behind me commented several times “this is really fun” and “I didn’t know North Texas games were like this.” THAT is how you build a lasting fanbase.

For those of you who are season ticket holders, get ready to have Smut fans buying up tickets next to you. It is beneath them to sit in general admission seats. I'm sure the ushers won't be checking tickets and people will sit wherever they want to. It will also be interesting to see if we have more than two gates to enter. Expect long lines to get in and at the concession stands.
Wait, you expect these guys to actually travel for a game?
If they do, I’m sure we can handle all 7 of them being somewhere in the Super Pit

Winning on the road in conference is always dicey.
WHAT???!!! You mean to tell me that quality teams can lose on the road and NOT automatically become “soft”, or “lucky to have won the games they won”???

Per sources, Miami didn't commit pass interference against Ohio State. The NCAA is surely going to award the Hurricanes a national title any day now.

I don't think enough is being said about this guy around here.
He's doing a fantastic job with the ladies. I'm looking forward to seeing what they cook up for the Mustangs tonight!
Speaking for many here on GMG.com, it's just so "surprising" that a guy could come in here and take over an 11-win team, and already have them at 13-3! I mean, it certainly should not be expected... what, with all of the roster turnover due to the portal, and what Coach Mitchell left him. </sarcasm>
Speaking for myself, it's not surprising when a winner comes in and wins. Immediately. Without excuse. Takes the players he has, brings in complimentary new players, identifies quality staff, injects a winning mindset... which turns into a winning culture, and Voila! Wins pile up!
He's not a good coach "for North Texas". He's a good coach.
I'm glad Coach Burton is here, and I look forward to a deep run in the Conference Tournament! THIS YEAR!
I’ve always believed culture trumps everything. Instill (and reinforce) a culture of accountability, no excuses, and EXPECTED success and you will see the results you want.

Lol, college football coaches are REALLY going to have to earn that money. Gonna have to recruit their own roster non-stop plus new players.
Coach: I was very disappointed in your effort during practice this week, and I will NOT tolerate you skipping classes.

This is interesting data. Thank you for tracking.
We’ve got to get this program to a point where we are no longer making excuses for attendance over the holiday break. I was at every game with my crew of 4-5 people.Tech played on Saturday too and they played in front of a sold out arena. And yeah I am comparing us to Tech because we have the potential to get our program to that level.
Here is the key difference: Tech fans go to games to see Tech, so things like weather, opponent, holidays, what they had for breakfast, etc. don’t keep them away. Our “fanbase” will wait for the perfect circumstances (AND other people showing up first so it’s cool to be there) before they’ll show up in real numbers.

It appears that he is set to take over as head coach of Lovejoy high school.
The man is a true pioneer, taking on the Herculean task of winning at places like Southlake Carroll, Austin Westlake, and now a school where they went 12-2 last season.
