This is a good step forward. I hope that people see that the turn around will just take time and we need to have faith that TD has and will continue to make good decisions. I hope that this willstop all the fire the DC stuff going on, but I know some of you will never be happy and it will continue.

some of you people kill me.... you gripe about dickey not winning and running on 3rd and long and now that dodge is throwing swing passes. This was the FIRST game of his tenure. I think that the ones going crazy about this game were looking at his HS record thinking that he was going to turn miracles overnight. To me this whole season is a gimme if he wins every game here on out great if he looses every game then ok no big deal. I don't know about you but I saw some good things tonight. 1) Vizza - for a true freshman he looked comfortable and confident. The interceptions were mistakes but he will move on and learn from them. 2) Meager - he looked a heck of a lot better to me than he ever did under dickey. Everything is new and it will take time for them to adjust. Remember that patients is a virtue. Can some of you please go find some.

After graduating high school I had no idea what to do with my life so I enrolled at Harvard on the Highway (TCJC back then... I think it's called TCCC now or so I’ve been told). Anywho, I was struggling there because I just didn't care and again I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. One day while working at the DFW Hilton one of the people I worked with was around 50 and I was talking to him about whatever and suddenly I had a revelation. Something inside my head said "Do you really want to be doing this shiznit until your 50?" So I got my grades up and transferred to good ole NT. Going to this school was the best decision I've ever made because I met my wife here. I graduated in 2000 from the business program and now I'm half way done with my MBA from another school. After that I think I'm going to get my PHD, which I have no freaking idea what I will ever use it for.

We've had 4 out of 7 coaches only stay 4 or less years because they couldn't win consistantly. I completely agree with this. I have a couple of questions for eulesseagle... You say you want change... 1) if we change how long will the new coach have until he is fired? 2) if a new coach comes in what are your expectations the first year? 3) if he doesn't meet those expectations then he should get fired the very next year right? 4) who are you wanting to replace DD with? 5) how much are you willing for the university to pay on top of DD's buyout? How in the world can we build a program when we expect to have a new coach every 2 years under your system. Who in their right mind would want to come to NT with the "Win or Get Fired!" contract you are suggesting? How many coaches have we gone through to get to this point? The university has tried it your way in the past and look how successful we were. Yes I think we are in dire need for a change... One that gives the most successful coach since Hayden Fry some time to finish what he started. To answer your question: 1. What minimul W-L record, this year, is acceptable to you to keep DD for another year? I think that we shold honor the contract we gave him.

If you land several big deals for your company 4 years in a row and they make tons of money, and then you only get a couple of small deals the next year should you get fired? I'm sick and tired of the "We need a change because" stuff. Let me ask you this.... If UT fired Mack Brown when the so called "fans" wanted them to would; 1) VY have gone to UT? 2) They have won the NC? No one will ever know... Why? Because he was given the benefit to keep coaching based on his past success. DD has won 4 Conference titles. I don't give a CRAP if it is in the Sunbelt or the Southland Conference he won. And no amount of whining or complaining will change our conference to the “Insert other non BCS conference that no one outside the BCS cares about”. I was one of the many chanting, begging, and pleading with DD to “THROW THE BALL” during the TCU game. And I don’t for the life of me understand some of the play calling, but my coaching views should not preclude me from supporting the team. If you want a change fine, voice it. But you should still support your team because it is YOUR team. I was devastated that we didn’t have a good year because we had a lot of national press because of Cobb’s and Thomas. However I am still rooting for them to Smack SMwho this year. If they lose, I will be furious for about 1 week right up until kickoff of the next game. After that I will get over it. I could give a rat’s azz what the perception is of NT on the outside. They don’t know us nor care about us so why should we care what they say about us. Talk about needing Thick Skin!

The have more plays than we do....

From what I saw that was different; 1) there can be at least 2 guys in motion twards the line of scrimmage on offense at the same time. I've only ever seen 1 guy in the AFL. 2) On a kickoff if it is a touchback (i.e. ball goes out of bounds) then the ball is placed the 15 in arena I think it is placed at the 2 3) there is no linebacker that has to stay in a invisible box (one thing I hate about AFL because it's called at least 5 times a game). The QB on the Beaumont team was running for his life and got knocked out of the game 3 times by the LB. He really earned his paycheck last night. 4) there seems to be more rushing in this league (but what do I know... this was the only game I've ever seen) Bam was running over people left and right. In the AFL the only time I ever see people rushing is on the 1 inch line. I found the rulebook on this site. There was lots of trash talking... I think the QB on Katy used to be the QB for Beaumont last year. Every time he threw a TD he ran over close to their bench and bowed... it was pretty funny.

I went to the first ever game of the NIFL (National Indoor Football League) game of the Katy Copperheads and I saw Bam Morris playing. There are 3 ex-NFL players and a couple of LA-Monroe guys playing on the team. QB is from Texas Tech, Wide Recever is from Southern Miss. This is the website if anyone is interested.
