  1. When I lived in the area, I was about 15 minutes from the stadium and attended numerous games.  I attended the All Star game in 1995 and it was pretty miserable, but that is the only game I recall where it was just terrible.  I just think outdoor sports should be played outside.  I am very much a traditionalist when it comes to this, so I am not a fan of any domed stadium.

  2. I know you are joking, but Stephen is a good young man from a good family.  As many of you are aware, he was involved in an altercation at the end of last school year.  This caused a delay.  He will be a great addition to the team, probably return man and slot receiver.  Littrell liked him because of Stephen's strong wrestling background, a sport in which he received a number of offers on the D1 level.  Wrestling, and the training involved, is a different animal than football.

Mmm . . . I think you completely missed my point.

    Odus Mitchell deserved the honor.

But he received the honor . . . thus "overlooked" is inaccurate.

I understood and appreciate your point, but I think his success is overlooked by the general public and the current student body probably has no idea who he is or that he coached at North Texas.  I just think his accomplishments should be brought to the forefront and shared with all considering the era in which he coach, taking us to our only bowl games until the NOLA Bowl was created, his overall record, integration of the program long before other D1 universities in Texas and his "every man persona" where he was humble, approachable and just a great person.  True, I had the honor of knowing him and his family, but I would love to see the field named after him.

I also think it would be a great addition to Apogee to have a "Walk of Fame" that highlights the players that have had their number retired, Gill, Greene, Haynes and Renfro  along with Coach Mitchell, Coach Fry and maybe even Coach Nelson.  They could post something like this:

Have you tried to go to an afternoon game in the summer? If you aren't in the shade it is a brutal experience. Even the 7:00 PM starts are pretty hot.

I grew up playing baseball in Denton.  I loved it.  I once played catcher during a game with a 3:00pm start time.  The temperature was over 110.  If I could do it for free, these guys making millions can handle it.

Did you ever go to a game at the old ballpark?  It not, you don't know hot.

It must be something with the Metroplex or UNT.  Our band can't wear their uniforms because they might sweat.  Did it become hotter the past few decades?  I don't ever recall the GB not being in full uniform when I went to games as a kid.  SMU's band was able to handle the heat and wear their Mr. Peppermint tribute uniforms, Tennessee's band was in full uniform for their game with Florida two weeks ago.  The on the field temperature was over 100 degrees at kickoff with 105,000 + in attendance.

We live in Texas, it is what it is.

  5. Watched the came on CampusInsiders.  BTW, the announcers and the product were very good.  Many of the OL penalties were on #77 Woodworth, but replays didn't always bear out the penalty called.  The officiating was very poor.  I saw a team that is still growing, never gives up, believes in their coaching staff, a coaching staff that is passionate about coaching these young men, etc...  Yes, there were some bad moments, but didn't we expect that this year?  This program is in so much better shape than a year ago, but we must be patient and know that good things are coming.

    Couple other quick thoughts/comments:

McClain is a great talent at Safety.  What has happened to Gray this year?

Garner is playing really well at LB.

Our DB's are stout this  year, really impressed with that group.

If we could generate consistent pressure, then this defense could be awesome.  That, and the offense giving them a break or two by not going three and out.

Watched the live stream for most of the game. We didn't play as well as we could. We also could've played worse. Here's why:

    1. First year in the system, first year OC in Harrell. Let's be honest we expect execution but he ain't exactly putting out the best play calls

    2. Patchwork O-line designed for power run game. Let's face it this o-line could be better. But again. First year in an EXACT OPPOSITE system. These guys werent recruited for a Air Raid system.

    3. Freshman QB. Yes Fine lit it up in high school, but he's still adjusting to the speed of the game and the complexity of the defenses he sees. Give him time. He has the tools. He will be good

    4. We lost to a better team. Regardless of circumstances. MTSU is in line to win the conference. They may very well win out the rest of the way and I wouldn't be surprised.

    5. 3-4 wins will be a VAST improvement over last year, and let's face it, this team has been competitive in every game they've played and will continue to improve.

Could we have won? Yes. Am I disappointed? Yes. Will we play better? Yes.

Y'all need to temper your expectations. Littrell will right this ship. I am enjoying the development of so many talented young players and excited for the future of UNT football. It'll be okay.

    Chill.

Let's not start blaming Greek life for lack of student turnout. I'm guessing there are about 1,200 in a school of 38,000. At the very least they give us a respectable tailgating scene and a good amount of them do go to games. That's more than I can say for the typical UNT student.

My feelings exactly.  The are an easy target because they are visible, but they are far from the problem considering the size of our student body.

I was relatively impressed with the turn out. The student section fell flat. My dad and I have always wondered why the frats/sororities don't make it mandatory to show up to home games , especially your rush class. This could account for at least several hundred kids

Hope people realize the improvement this team is making and just show up to see what the future may bring. Really proud of these kids and how they performed. Not a win, lots of room for improvement but this team comes prepared and ready to play every week. For once in the history of the program, I wish our fan base would just show up and support these hard working kids.

How do you know fraternities and sororities are not in attendance?
