I'd be all for giving him more recognition, but he was recently named the coach of the all-time North Texas team over such coaches as Fry, Rust, and Dickey. So "overlooked" is not really accurate.
Dickey, overall losing record.
Rust, overall losing record.
Fry had success and a winning record here and his name is brought up by many when discussing the success we have had at North Texas, but Mitchell was here longer, had greater success and was named the National Coach of the Year in 1966. Add in the integration of the team long before any other school even consider it, record of consecutive conference titles in a row(7), and the only 3 bowl appearances we had ever had until the NOLA Bowl was created and I don't think an argument can be made for another coach to be recognized by naming the field after him.

5-3 USA after Day 1.
Morning matches: USA leads one, Europe leads 2 and one match is all square.

Loved Coach Mitchell. I wish I had the cash to name the field after him.

If we lose, LSU should fire JJ and make him hitch hike back to Denton in his bare feet!

Recruit Tyrone?

Back on topic, that uniform is fugly. Not a fan of the gray uniforms, nor the matte finished helmets, nor the NFL "color rush." I prefer traditional uniforms.

i think it was decided before the game that mac was getting fired...so i don't think it would have mattered
If this were the case, would RV have terminated McCarney immediately following the game in the locker room? Or, was it already decided and then the result of the game led to the immediate termination? Either way, I think the Portland State game was a blessing in disguise.

The exact reason my sainted mother hates that paper. She always said they never say anything good about NT or Denton, but as soon as something like this occurs we end up on the front page.

I mentioned that too, suggesting a large tent be added on game day. I think the perfect location would be behind the wing, but now that they're putting those TVs there, that probably isn't going to happen.
I'm also wondering about Scrappy - the only mentions in the survey are positive, but I know a bunch of us complained about the "Eugene Levy Scrappy" costume.
This stands out: "Post-game field access is being discussed on how to make it an option and provide a safe environment for everyone on the field". I don't remember there being a question regarding this - I guess a lot of people miss that from Fouts. No mention of having kinds in the Jr. Mean Green club come out before the beginning of the second half, though.
A good place would be either corner of the north endzone, either between the wing and the alumni side or same location on the student side.

Can someone explain where this term came from regarding, I think, our white helmets?

Isn't there an eating establishment owned by a North Texas alum? I thought I remembered reading that on here a couple of years ago. Anybody else recall this, or am I just confused?

Rick was a burden on this athletic department like possibly no AD has ever been anywhere from coast to coast. And we have to pay him to go away? Handsomely I might add.
I down voted it because I thought it was money well spent. Sometimes you need an outsider without "a dog in the hunt" to speak the obvious and to facilitate change. Sure, there is a lot of information in there we all knew, but as someone mentioned earlier, it is all out there for us to see. Let's fix it. RV ran out of smoke screens. I will be shocked if he shows his face again after this damning report.

I think one day UT & OU leave the Big 12 for similar reasons Arkansas left the old SWC & TAMU the Big 12.
Arkansas and A$M left because UT is a tough conference mate to put up with.

Didn't some players from the team a couple of years do a sliders eating college there for BTG?
I thought that was in Cooper Jones' garage.

Stats from recent win vs. Everman. Still putting up big numbers.

Thanks for the clarification on Jamize. My point with Waters was that he moved around a lot, position wise, at UNT which probably was attractive to NFL scouts since it showed his athleticism.
