First year in 20+ that I'm hesitant to pull the trigger on renewing my 4 season football tickets.

Tired of never "winning the big game", tired of "it's about me", and "show me the money". Very little or no loyalty to "the team or school".

Maybe I'm too old to be a college football/basketball fan.....

    Yep.

They want an NIL?  I want a list of what players are being paid what amount and how their name, image or likeness is being used to earn these dollars. The fans give this money so we have a right to know.
These kids entering the portal and signing elsewhere, I want to know what we offered/paid and what the new school is paying. Too much secrecy when the fan base is paying the salaries.

It must really drive you crazy when our coaches and players say every team is tough. Let alone the program that's been at the top of the conference and ranked the last 2 years.

I want to agree with you.

    Truly, I really do...

But I don't think anybody was looking at our run defense last year and thinking, "I'm worried about playing them."

Tulane barely beat us last year with their all world QB, etc.  They will have a new coach, system, etc.  There is no reason we should not beat them.

Players leaving due to coach leaving makes sense to me. You like that coach and he recruited you there, maybe you don't want to play in an unknown system. I understand those reasons.  We are not in that situation, our coach is still here.

Again, you don’t have to look very far to find both examples.

  4. If Hodge is giving these players his blessing to go, then the pressure is on him to replace them with as good or better players.  There is zero loyalty to the school and I won't have much loyalty to these players.  As @Marty stated in another thread, cheer for the name on the front of the jersey, not the back.  The bad part I foresee is that people are going to get tired of giving to a NIL Collective when these players come and go on an annual basis.

Coaches and AD's use G5 programs as stepping stones [ Wren, Mac] so how can you not expect players to as well.

Calipari made $8.5 million at UK with all the pressure and lack of NIL to go with the job.  Drew makes a reported $5.13 million at Baylor with an alumni base funding NIL's left and right and about half, if that much, the pressure at UK.  Drew could end his career at Baylor in another 15 years pocketing around $80 million, have a statue erected on the banks of the Brazos and be a local legend or he could go to UK, spend about 5 years before the pressure and expectations run him off and pocket around $42.5 million.

Because of ego, he will probably go to UK, flame out in 5 years of so, and end up on Sports Center or covering March Madness every year.

Most of them were recruited to fit McCasland's system.  What if Hodge has a different vision for our system? Do you change the system to accommodate this loyalty/investment, or do you take advantage of the portal to put yourself in a winning position...sooner?

Edwards, Buggs and Noland arrived as transfers after McCasland left and Ross was named his replacement.

  7. Honestly, I am having a difficult time pulling the trigger on renewing my football season tickets when there is complete roster turnover, very little information coming from the department and coaches obviously telling our kids to "test the waters".
