  1. The people out here in West Texas drive to Lubbock during the season. This was a way to bring the team to the fans, and allow the university to bring alums together which leads to donations. Some of you are in such a negative state of mind that you want to turn anything remotely positive into a negative. Worried about attendance, then invite every single coach from the Dallas ISD and the surrounding communities and leave the doors open for fans. Anybody that comes that doesn't normally make the drive to Denton for the games might become interested.

I live less than a mile from the practice field. I don't go to scrimmages. Season ticket holder. Scrimmages are boring.

This is the main problem with NT. We say we want to be a big boy, we talk about how cool it is that 60,000 show up for Alabama's or Nebraska's spring game and then we won't make the effort to travel less than a mile. It is about exposure.

  2. He's having an OK spring, but I have to tell you that his weight loss and greater determination to get better is not translating into a real noticeable change from what I've seen so far. In other words, he pretty much looks the same to me. Actually the most improved QB out there is McNulty. If he keeps developing, he could be a good bus driver-type QB. Nothing spectacular, but good speed and good percentage passing. I'm getting a bit annoyed with Bergland. Saturday he spent too much time trying to show off with his running (which is kind of back firing since this defense is noticeably faster than last year and often runs him down at the line of scrimmage) and long ball throwing and not practicing making good decisions.

Trying to show off and be "wonder boy" is probably what got Mr. Bergland his hamstring injury in the first place.

Thanks SE. Sounds like McNulty could be another, probably faster, Scott Hall type. DT is a thinner model of last year's version. Will have bouts of looking good and bouts of looking bad which can probably be attributed to mechanical issues (Come on Coach Chico!). And it sounds like BB has been reading the headlines and needs a little attitude adjustment.

  3. So you are sayiong that this board is all powerful with recruits but no-powerful with anyone at UNT?

Kinda conflicting statements, don't you think?

And I don't have the financial clout to have audience with anyone at UNT. I also don't believe in taking up their valuable time by telling them something they already know. It's a public job. With that comes public criticism.

I will respond to each statement:

    1. Yes, it is important with an 18 year old. He likes to see his name written up, check with the school's website or fanboard to get reaction from his visit, etc... He's 18. I think the AD staff keeps an eye on the board, but it is not near as important to them as it is to an 18 year old hoping to go somewhere he is wanted.

    2. Not even close to being a conflicting statement. I would consider the question inane at best.

    3. So you "don't believe in taking up their valuable time" but have no problem taking up our's with the constant bombardment of negativety? Interesting train of thought considering they are the one's that have the ability to facilitate change.

UNTnewbie hits the nail on the head.

  4. No but repeating the same thing over and over is just tiresome. Go beat on RV's door or go to the next board meeting and rant and rave, anything but hijacking every thread on here. You even chose to hijack a thread about a young man that is a potential recruit. Ever stop to think that maybe he or his parents stopped by to see what we had to say? I am sure they were reassured by reading your rant.

  5. Practicing against yourself really doesn't prove anything to the untrained eye.

    And we are all untrained.

Interesting admission or does this only apply to football?

All of our QB's have potential. DT has played very well in some games and not so good in others. McNulty got the RS year he deserved, works hard and is athletic. BB was highly rated coming out of HS but has been inactive for a couple of years. So, they all have the potential or a capable. Plus, who knows what Williams will bring to the table once he gets here.

  6. Nah. I...now pay attention because I may use a big word or two...WELCOME criticism of my work product. This is why I excel at what I do. My superiors don't believe I deserve a four year plan to get it right. Arresting a peon like you for simply being mouthy would result in (deserved) reprisal. You see, some of us excel at what we do and don't count on an apologist here or there to prop us up. And, please, tell me what I've ever yelled at Benford. I harass the opposing bench mercilessly, never denied that, but what pray tell have you heard me yell at the OTHER end of the court? Might this be yet another example (like the Coach K argument) where you spouted off without doing your homework first? It's cool, I've come to expect nothing less.

And chances are I'd never pull you over anyway. Supervisory personnel don't often make traffic stops.

You win. You are clearly superior, officer. Oh, and thanks for the reminder about your success at DPD. You never fail to remind us or let an opportunity pass to be condescending. I won't ask because I am sure you were without error in your first year on the force.

  7. Depends on the frame. For the sake of ceterus paribus, if we had a thing where a man and woman at 5'9" 120 were put through the same training program, starting at the same fitness level with the same trainers and the same nutrition, they'd probably be about the same strength. I mean, the assumption is that a man and woman of the same weight starting at the same base fitness level and same frame would end up with roughly the same muscle composition and muscle density.

Not going to happen. For example, women do not have the same levels of testosterone as men.

  8. Boom! Roasted.

Damn. Will I ever recover? With morons like you on board, Coach K would have been kicked to the curb after any of those seasons. Of course, this is coming from someone that would arrest you and haul you downtown should you ever consider criticizing him for his work. I can imagine getting pulled over by emmitt and responding in the nature that you yell from the stands at Benford. I mean, how dare we question an officer's performance to his face at the time of an alleged infraction, right?

Thank you CMJ for clarifying. I honestly didn't look up his record but knew that he struggled early on.
