  1. This is going to cause a lot of downvotes, and that's fine by me.

I went to NTSU/UNT for many years and paid a LOT to get the degrees.  I put in my time at an empty Fouts field in the rain and cold and hot watching the Mean Green gets its head beaten in over and over.

Quite frankly, the lack of athletic success by UNT over the last century, and especially the last 30 years, has devalued my degrees and has devalued the prestige of being a UNT graduate.

"Where did you go to college?"

         "North Texas"

         "Where is that?"

You never get that reaction with A&M or Bama or Oregon.

If anyone has heard of North Texas : UNT is a great <blank> school -- unless it involves sportsball.

I've put in my time and money.  Like most UNT alumni, I am waiting for the school to step up and be something to be proud of on Saturday.  If someone thinks that I have to throw a bit of cash at a program to have an opinion -- jump in a lake.

  2. "

In 2017, McCormick missed a good portion of the season after recovering from rhabdomyolysis, which he and several teammates developed following an overly strenuous workout in January of that year. McCormick then missed most of the 2018 season, and all of the 2019 and 2020 seasons, due to a broken ankle that required multiple surgeries.

McCormick made his return to the field for a game against Ohio State in September 2021, but he tore his Achilles in that contest and missed the rest of the season."

So he's played 1 complete season, despite being on campus forever.  I don't see a problem with the extension.

  3. This weakens the Pac12, but I believe they'll stay pat for a bit.  When the 4 corner schools bolt or the Northwest schools move on, that will be the deathknell of the PAC-12 as we know it.  I'd expect the left-behinds to take the majority of the MWC.  The PAC-12 name, right now, has the value as a P5 conference.

This assumes they care about travel time.  It could be that the PAC quits caring about the Pacific, and just throws open the doors.  In that case, you'll see something like a land rush as the G5s scramble to get in.  PAC-USA?

  4. Just now, NT80 said:

Seriously?  Been blown out of games more this year.  Not sure what accomplishments you allude to.

Well, UNT spread the losses out, so there wasn't a need for 5 wins in a row to  get to Frisco.  So there's that.

And to be fair, they -did- get to the championship game this season, which is a greater accomplishment than recent results.

  5. Tonight I watched a fine football game.  It was a hard fought battle, with big plays on each side of the ball.  Some unexpected heroes, great coaching, good halftime adjustments, and time management battles that went down to literally the last minute.

Malakoff beat Grandview to advance to the State semifinals.

Friday night is for high school football.  UNT should remember that in the future.  Fortunately, I'm certain the AAC won't be chained to such a schedule.

  6. I wish Wren well in his new journey.  While I wish he'd been more decisive about Seth, at the time of the original extension, given what we knew at the time, it was the right call.  Wren was instrumental in moving out of C-USA.  That alone was a tremendous achievement.

Nobody could expect a G5 AD not to take a good P5 spot if the opportunity comes around.

I hope the next AD here can build on the successes.
