  1. Thought of two reasons why BWW Rice might not be the best place for us, not only for Sunday but also for watching the game:

    - parking stinks

*** UH & Rice play each other in the CUSA semifinal - what if the winner then also wins the championship? BWW will be a "home" bar, and we'll be crowded out.

All of the conference tournament games are over when the selection show comes on. Otherwise, they couldn't actually select a bracket without knowing all of the final results.

  2. Wouldn't the Daktronics (commonly referred to as the Jumbotron) monitor in the Super Pit better serve a function if it always showed the action in 5 second delay?

Seriously, why would anybody watch the live action on the screen instead of on the court? The screen doesn't seem to fill any purpose during the games. A five second delay would allow fans to watch an instant replay of every rebound, every steal, every assist, every foul, every basket, and would give us twice as much to cheer about.

It just seems to make too much sense.

Is there a reason that this is not done already?

I go to quite a few Mavs games every year. The Mavericks always have the live feed going during the game. I think it's mostly so that if someone gets up in front of you, you can still watch the game on the JumboTron even if you can't see the action on the court.

My guess is that this is the main reason. I can't really think of any other reason.

I think your idea is good though. I hadn't really thought of it that way.

  3. Does anyone know if the semifinal game against the MUTS was broadcast on T.V. anywhere

I was in Frisco at Stonebriar and listened to the game on the radio.....

The game was on ESPN Full Court. I watched the game at Fox and Hound in Lewisville.

I plan to head to Denton tonight.

  4. I'll be heading to one of the Fry St. bars to watch the game tomorrow night. I'm thinking it's the only place around to get audio of the game and have the NT game as the premier game.

It's important for all Mean Green fans to be out, loud and proud, at your local establishments for this game. The more people, the more North Texas looks like a big-time program to the average sports fan.

I'm definately going to be in Denton for this one though. Just imagine the party WHEN we pull this thing off!!!

  5. If your the 1st one there , could you go to the room to the left ( if empty ) and see if they would play the NT game in there ?

Waiting for wife to get off work at 600 , so probably won't arrive till tip-off time , thanks.

    I'll do what I can.

  6. My true gut feeling going into the conference tournament is that we will make the Final. I actually had a dream the other day that we made the NCAA Tournament and played Florida in the 1st round. (By the way, this was before reading the post on here with bracket experts picking the Sun Belt champ to play Florida in Round 1).

Definately looking forward to Monday night.

  7. Have you ever walked past a gameday banner with a group of students and just listened. They either walk by, or worse, look and laugh and say yeah right. Maybe if they all had that west texas attitude....

All anyone ever posts is more signs and more advertisments and then act like they just created genius.

I guess "more posters" is the new rallying cry to replace "more threes." (sorry Keith... I know what you actually meant by that, but it's just so darn catchy)

Hopw would you make the students care? An extra special rainbow colored sign? A clever sign? A yellow sign? A green sign with polka dots?

Maybe RV already has his map pencils out waiting for the next stroke of genius...

Good point, Quoner. Apathetic students hurt this University, and advertising to them doesn't get us very far.

The question here is: How do we get apathetic students to care?

Personally, I can tell you I had a lot of friends in college who didn't really care much about sports, even if it was there school. But every football Saturday, and every basketball game night, I would personally gather as many of them as I could and drag them to Fouts or the Pit with me. I can't tell you I magically turned them into huge UNT fans, but I will say that they are at least somewhat interested now.

I'm sure others have even better stories, but I just figured I would share.

  8. From the official Sun Belt site:

"Live webstreaming coverage of every every game from Lafayette for only $9.95"

It makes it sound that this is a video feed, not just an audio feed.

Has anyone purchased this in previous years. If so, how's the video quality? It is worth the 10 bucks?

Just thought I would ask, I'd hate to miss a couple North Texas Tournament wins because I was too cheap to pay 10 bucks!

  9. Does anybody know how the revenues from the first round games are divided?

Is it basically just another home game for us? Does the conference get the money since it is the conference tournament?

I noticed that the ticket prices went up a couple of bucks and season ticket holders will still have to buy a separate ticket for this game.

Just wondering if anyone knew anything.

  10. It goes without saying (but I will anyway) that we REALLY need a big crowd for this one. I'm trying to get my wife on board with the drive up from Dallas with our 3 daughters. Who else is going?

    I'll definately be there.

It's also important for us to get as many co-workers, friends, significant others, and not so significant others to come with us for this big game.

  11. OK, let's do a hypothetical situation here:

We're 18-9 right now, with 2 very winnable games remaining. Let's say we win both, and finish the regular season at 20-9.

This will more than likely get us the 4 or 5 seed, and a first round home tournament game against a weak team. Another game we should win, putting us at 21-9.

Now, this puts us in the tourney in Lafayette against another 4 or 5 seed, a game that's basically a toss-up. If we win this game, we'll be put against a South Alabama in the 2nd round.

My point is that 21 wins should definately happen, and 22 wins with a semifinal loss in the conference tourney is definately do-able.

My question is: Does 21-22 wins get us an NIT bid? If I remember correctly, 3 teams from the Sun Belt made the NIT last year, and we have the 2nd best overall record in the Belt behind South Alabama.

    What does everyone think?
