This has already been posted by Kram1 in the UNT sports section, but since the football board gets the most views, I figured I would post it here as well.
T. J. Hartford's Grill and Bar in Lewisville will be hosting a social event with the Denton Chapter of the North Texas Exes and UNT Athletics on Saturday. The event will run from 12-5 PM, ending just in time to head to Denton for the basketball games.
The NT Exes Executive Director Derrick Morgan will speak on the state of the Exes at 12:30.
North Texas Athletic Director Rick Villareal will speak on the state of the Athletic Department at 1:00.
Both will be available for meet-and-greet afterwards, meaning you all can hound RV with all kinds of new stadium questions.
We'll have $1.99 domestic pints, $2.50 wells, and free chips & salsa with a food purchase.
The event is open to any UNT fans, not just Exes members.

So, who's in?

Thanks for getting this all set up!!! Should be a fun event.

What is so great about winning the West division?
I know in years past the tournament was always seeded #1 West, #1 East, #2 West, etc. But this year, the Sun Belt site just has it as Seeds #1-13. Does the division winner automatically get to be seeded #1 or #2?
I would be happy winning the West division at this point. However, I would hate for us to end up getting a #3 seed (which we probably would) when winning the division.
Those with more knowledge than I, please respond.

I hope Avery doesn't show up to root on the Privateers. We don't need a former alum cheering on his alma mater. That would provide a lift of sorts to their club.
Avery is an alum of Southern University of Baton Rouge, whom we beat earlier this season at home.

I'm not sure scheduling DU right before the holidays falls entirely on JJ. I do think it is a bad idea to have a game like this right before Christmas.
My understanding is that the coaches have nothing to do with the conference schedule, which is set by the league. They do, however, set the non-conference schedule.
-
Thanks BFBrian.....One more question... I've never been there....is this a restaurant/bar with a family atmosphere or a straight up bar? My family is in town, and I was thinking about having dinner out there during the game.
Definately a family restaurant/sports bar. 25 TV's are located throughout the restaurant. If you'll have kids with you, they can play games in the gameroom for 5 cents each. We have a full bar and a full menu, so you can definately enjoy dinner while there.
-
Do you know if they have audio playing for the game?
Yes, we will have audio on for the game, provided there are enough there interested.
It will definately not be on a small TV either.

Just wanted to let everyone know and invite everyone on this board to T. J. Hartford's in Lewisville on Saturday. We'll be showing the North Texas vs. Denver game on Saturday at 5:00.
We've got $1.99 domestic pints and $2.50 wells all night.

Well lets see, SMU basketball team is 4-5 with a win over TCU. NT was close if not the worst team in Bowl Division football providing the only wins for FIU and SMU as well as having one of the worse defenses in NCAA history. Yes I think they are comparable, although SMU still has 2/3 of the season to improve.
Stop with your logic! It's hurting my brain.
-
OK...got a little nervous there when I heard about Josh White. Out 2-3 games! It brought back flashes of another NT great, who played extremely well in his freshmen season, and then struggled, due to a nagging hammy.
Tell me I am overreacting...please...
You are definately overreacting.... I hope.
-
Very upsetting. New Orleans is a great destination for a bowl, and it doesn't make any sense how you can only sell 700 tickets.
-
It would be great if we could get a watching party together for that game. I am not sure where it would be exactly. I have dish and I do not see fcs anywhere on my lineup. I only add this b/c i think buff wild wings has dish also.
We will be showing the game at T. J. Hartford's in Lewisville. Everyone is welcome.
-
You pay attention to the NBA before the playoffs? Why?
I've had a Mavericks 10-game miniplan for about 7 years now. I mostly did it so I get the first shot at playoff tickets, but it doesn't mean I'm going to miss a regular season game either. I'll be watching the Southern game on my cell phone constantly.
-
Be there for the Centenary game, but I have tickets for the Mavs game Monday, so I'll be missing the Southern game.

Verizon Cable has Fox College Sports Central (Ch 301). Mean Green @ Denver 6pm 12/22
It is unclear what time zone is represented by the 6pm. My guess is Eastern.
Correct. The game is at 5 PM Central.

Very funny...but remember, payback is "hell". If this happens and we start "messing around" with other university booster sites and start making the type of donations suggested here, we should not "complain and yell" when it happens to us. This is not a situation I would want to see happen here at UNT.
Leave other schools programs alone...everyone here knows how hard it is to raise $$$$ for anything...much less athletics at a place like SMU. Let it be and concentrate on building up your own "war chests" to donate to our new stadium when the call comes...and it will come....
I agree. It's definately funny, but instead of opening up a can or worms, I think we should just leave them alone. Definately, funny though.

geeeezz... that took a lot of work....or at least it looks like it did.
It did take a lot of work. But now, every evening when I am trying to figure out which games to keep an eye on with espn.com, it becomes easy.
Besides, the wife went to bed early that night, so I stayed up late to get it done.

The Scores:
Belmont 80 ... Mid Tenn St 86 - OT
New Orleans 67 ... Colorado 65
A couple of nice wins...Colorado out of the Big-XII
Belmont was 6-3 and been the best team in their conference (Atlantic Sun) and has defeated Alabama and Cincinnatti.... MUTS had lost to Belmont earlier by 23.. quite turn-around.
Good to see the Sun Belt get a couple of good wins last night. The conference needs some more of these for sure.
-
Times are central:
Saturday, 6 p.m. --Memphis at Middle Tenn. State---ESPN 2
Saturday, 8 p.m.--Tennessee at Western Kentucky--ESPNU
Definately some big games. I'll be watching these for sure.
-
Sorry that the formating seems to be off. The file is too large to upload, so I guess you guys will just have to deal with it.
I will email to anyone that wants it; just leave your email or PM me and I'll send it out to you when I get the chance.

I made a list of all of North Texas' Division I Opponent's schedules for the remainder of the season.
With our current RPI ranking of #16, it is important for our opponents to continue to win.
The basic RPI formula is as follows: The basic RPI formula is 1/4*(Winning Percentage) + 1/2*(Opponents' Average Winning Percentage) + 1/4*(Opponents' Opponents' Winning Percentage)
Half of the RPI is our opponent's average winning percentage, so it's very important for our Sun Belt foes and our other opponents to continue to win games, regardless of who they are playing.
I did not include our Div II opponents, because to my knowledge, a Div. II win does not count towards your RPI, only a loss.
Enjoy!

Rick,
Thanks for sharing your honest opinion. Although I hope you're wrong (as I'm sure you do too), a realistic approach for some of us who are always optimistic is best.
I don't believe that you shared a date for the stadium. If you have any personal estimates, when do you think a new stadium will be completed?
