could canales separate himself from the dodge era? is he known enough to non attached fans to make them want to come buy tickets? not yet

Out of curiosity; how many football coaching hires does a AD get to make? TD was a a RV hire. Is this hire a must-have for RV's tenure here?
if rv can admit a hire is not getting the job done and make a change then i have no problem with an ad like that. rv is the best thing to happen to unt athletics.

leavitt would bring the experience we need for rebuilding. we should bring him in for an interview and see what rv thinks.

Finally, I want to chastise the posters on this board who have been calling for Coach Dodge's head since last spring. He is a class act, and the program is better off (in terms of character building) than before he came. (Remember?) And in the final analysis, that is what really matters...building young men of character.
he was fired for one reason and one reason only. 6-37. nobody was accusing him of being unfriendly.

RV says it's going to be a national search. He says he does NOT want to be Southern Miss and wants to be better than them. He says there are no current favorites. He says no decisions are going to be made before "all the rocks are turned over." He says he's making the final decision, but with input from the President and the BOR plus an outside consultant. He also says it is going to take till close to the end of the season to get through the process at the earliest.
i expect an announcement around thanksgiving but a pick before that. heard rv was disappointed bower was not higher on our poll and the negative comments

The west face of our new home will carry a big, beautiful University of North Texas 130 feet in the air. In addition the University is beginning work on a Home Team concept that will make us (it includes athletics) much more visible in the region.
truly a landmark for the program. finally a much needed regional campaign that includes athletics. thanks rv

Don't know how excited I can get when we are losing 23 seniors, including 16 big contributors and 11 starters. Plus we are bringing in a new coach and a new system. I am hoping for a quick turnaround, but it is going to be a rough first year.

Those students you are talking about aren't 3 years old. They are all grown ass individuals and if they want to go inside the stadium then they will. If they don't want to go then they simply wont. And besides this team is an absolute joke right now. Its attitudes like you that have put up with a historically crappy football and athletics program overall. Get a grip.
hey buckaroo i want dodge out too. i would rather have 20,000 fans in fouts booing than out in the parking lot showing him they don't care what he does.

You are not the judge of me nor do you have any right to pull this holier than though crap. I have my season tickets and they were counted you want to sit through games like this enjoy yourself.
we complain about students not coming into games what kind of example to we set by doing the same? i know you have tailgate stuff to clean up. but to intentionally set up a party to celebrate being a unt fan then purposely ignore your team? that is just stupid at any level.

It was not a crazy party all our friends left when the game started to go to the Tavern, we only had three of us still at our tailgate and after watching the team walk by with their heads dragging we knew how the game would go. SO we just watched the Jumbo-tron and BSed.
staying in the parking lot or going to the tavern instead of into the stadium is nothing to be proud of. even if trying to make a statement. students think it is ok to do it because of the examples they see from alums not going into the game.

unt fans know adversity. coaches come and go. the fans are left to clean up the mess and continue on.

For what its worth I believe NT should keep Dodge....he inherited a whale of a bad situation coming to NT...I have seen significant improvement especially this year....hurt by 14 injuries mainly to offensive players...our players have played their heart out and haven't given up...and don't believe any coach would do better with this team missing the same 14 injured players. Please don't compare Dodge with Dickey who constantly complained about everything UNT to the public and media ....Dodge has been a complete different type of coach: supporter of NT in the same facilities and the FB program. that he inherited and worked under.
i would like to see another coach with this team then i will get back to you on who did the better job. until then we are getting killed in recruiting.
this is an entertainment product. i am tired of all the constant sad endings.

With Kennum going down I'd say they have to be the favorites for the C-USA West Title. Last I checked they already had 22 verbals already for their 2011 class.

Boy, we do have some dreamers in this fanbase, thats for sure.

this list is ranked by total punting yards. not a good list to be on as it implies your team stinks and punts more often. the top ten teams only have about 10 wins total between them. a better ranking is for net or average punting distance, but never for total yards.
