  1. Hey, maybe the ladies of the Mean green nation will get a "look-see" at this Saturday's FOOTBALL 101 for the ladies under the direction of none other than Coach mac himself. I know, they are not calling it "Football 101" any longer, but I don't recall just what they are now calling it. Maybe a new uni and helmet showing is on tap for the ladies...who knows. Well, the Phantom knows....

    postponed till july.

  2. It doesn't make any sense now. It made no sense in years past. And, it won't make any sense in the future.

Texas Tech has had TT forever, even before they were "relevant." Ditto...TCU? Yeah, ditto TCU.

To me, and many others, saying "North Texas" is like I-AA. Northern Arizona. Northern Alabama.

For crying out loud, Alabama-Birmingham goes by UAB. Who cares? We know what it means even though they've never won crap!

We're UNT! Quitting pussy-footing around and put UNT on the helmet! There are no other UNT's in FBS or FCS. It's already unique. Use it!

Let's grow up and be a program now that we have a stadium and coaching staff.

Nobody watching a college football game is going to be confused by it! No one. Hell, not even the women will be confused.

to only have north texas on a helmet is small time. at least add the logo with it.

  3. i heard the logo-less, number-less, hash-mark-less are there to psyche out the opponents, we will confuse them their inability to identify where there are on the field.

like the helmets, there will be no logos or numbers on the field. only "north texas" will be on it. that way if the game is televised or a photo published viewers will know which team they are watching in the game. a logo would only confuse viewers to know which team is playing. :geek:

  4. vito has updated his blog with a list of who is coming back and how many ships remain. knox is a nice kid but will never produce at this level, should we still give a full ride? how about if mitchell does not get his hours and grades needed over the summer does that free up another ship until he is qualified?

  5. the point that unless you're already involved in going to games and events, that the athletics department is nearly invisible. I'm 15 miles from the school, and the only marketing I've seen is a rotating ad on the digital billboard in Lake Dallas for the new stadium.

I'm not a marketing person so I can't really say what the fix is, but it always feels like the marketing/promotions department operates more on a "let them come to us" approach than a "let's go get them" approach.

    this!

  6. I see them everywhere and they are going all over the metroplex talking with donors and potential donors. Maybe they have missed an opportunity or two that you have attended or missed a call or two, but I am most happy with the help and support I am getting from them with the Mean Green Rep program (a program UNT never had before they initiated it based on what some of these folks had seen at other universities), the events I have helped to sponsor, the stadium tours, the personal meetings with folks I have referred to them, their working the crowds at the basketball games (first time I have ever seen that happen), the work in the Mean Green Room and pavilion at Fouts, their helping with our Alumni Chapter Mixers (attending and supplying promo items). I understand that this is just from my perspective

your contact with them is as mg rep, not new potential fan. they have delegated much of thier customer contact work to the reps. these are just fans lacking any formal traingin in marketing or selling who were given a template to use for emails to other fans. who follows up with these attempts, anyone from the school?

i see them standing talking to themselves at events not working the crowds. the donors they seek for personal contact are current mg club members trying to get them to upgrade to club seats. this is not searching for the new ticket buyers at any level. and lunch on the schools tab is always a must for a donor meeting but often not needed.

paid promoters and hired sellers are needed but where is the oversight? are we getting our money's worth here in returns and effort? check the total number of mg accounts, you might be shocked.

  7. I am attending the alum awards Friday night and I am attending the spring game as well. I don't think the Alumni Awards Banquet will keep anyone from the spring game...and students never really have attended spring games at Fouts.

the reference about double travel was for alums driving from the metroplex not those living in denton. if there is no student interest in the football teams progress then the athletic department has a bigger problem. maybe hire another 10 promoters that do nothing? the weather should help attendance.

  8. No hire will be announced until the WBCA convention is completed so the candidate can be present for a press conference. Tomorrow should wrap up the festivities in Indianapolis. 99% of active coaches & assistants are members of the WBCA and attend the conference during the Final 4.

you sound like y ou have knowledge of the situation. should be expect a visit from vic after that?

  9. I was looking at the upper level of the home side nearest to the camera. Must just be shadows.

on the zoom it looks like they are power washing or sealing the concrete by section before starting the bench installation
