  1. My friend is a die hard tech fan and alum who lives in Dallas and he told me just like him most fans didn't give a rats ass about this game. Like just about 80% of other bowl games....this one was meaningless. We don't need to be dogging it and Tech fans don't need to defend a higher attendance number. In the end the game and this bowl was and is irrelevant and a waste of time.

tech fans are all talk and no act. full of themselves. i dog em any chance i can for not showing up, screw em. :P

  2. Who cares, build the Sunbelt. The Belt has a legitimate chance to go 3-0 against the MAC during this Bowl Season. The Mountain didn't do anything for TCU that they couldn't have done in C-USA other than waste millions of travel money every year(that North Texas doesn't have) and distance their true fans(what few they have) from ever getting to attend away conference games.

    Again, build the Sunbelt!

    Rick

you might as well be saying who cares about a new stadium, stay in fouts.

we need out of both fouts and the sunkbelt, both are dumps.

  3. In 2003, UNT's brass decided that we needed a new athletic identity system. Eric Ligon and one or two other instructors from our Communication Design program were given the task of finding the right way to represent UNT's athletics and the current athletic branding set is the result. They started their design process that resulted in a lot of controversy since not all of the results were that great. However, the UNT athletic font and Son of Worm were the big hitters from that design process. The Son of Worm and the rest started to really get seen in about 2004-2005 and the script font logo and the other items were phased out.

TLDR - if someone said Prosper had it first, they're wrong. Many high schools can't come up with their own, and I would bet that lots of people that work in UNT would have long words with them.

some of the logos like the eagle head were not very good but the sow is fine. it should be on the helmet instead of the wordy school name. fans and media know who is playing in the game. besides it is on the jersey too.

  4. On occasion, the baby gets thrown out with the bath water. McCarney was hired to right the ship. It's only natural that he wants a crew that he is comfortable with and has confidence in. His call and I'm OK with any selection he makes.

some were ok with anything 4 years ago too. we will see the results in 9 months.

  5. another crappy video job...who wants to see an overly compressed video of the backs of a couple guys on the tour....really!

Its a good thing they are not shooting from dark into the light and it is great the video of the back of the guys is shaking...that optical image stabilization is great...and the interesting facts....so was this of the stadium?...or was it a mine in Chili?

you don't want the wrinkled $100 bill? :growl:

  6. the SWC already had two teams in the DFW area.......it already had a massive amount of alumni from every program in the conference living in the DFW area

they had a single program from a small school that was slowly becoming not competitive in Houston (Rice) that was a founding member of the conference, brought academic prestige, and was not going anywhere at that time

it was a trip on much smaller roads to TAMU, TAMU was only a decade away from when they were 14,000 students, The City of Houston was one of the fastest growing cities in the USA, and UH was growing as well

Denton was well off the beaten path, still very small, UNT was just one of several state universities in and around the DFW area, and had much smaller enrollment than it did today

so enrollment is not a justification (I am sure UH was just as big if not bigger back then) the SWC already had the DFW geography covered and could have just as easily talked to UTA, and you had a few good years before you let your coach get away because of lack of administrative support

the two words highlighted above in your quoted post are the only thing UNT fans have to be bitter about and the only reason UNT is where it is today

the success of those picked instead of UNT for the SWC, the continued decades long lack of commitment to athletics by UNT even while the college sports landscape goes through huge changes and the SWC folds, and the ability of other programs to have success in areas with many fewer of the "advantages" UNT fans claim yet UNT has never availed themselves of shows that UNT had no right to, claim on, or really any reason to be the first choice of the SWC

checkfacts as he is better known has been a long time troll against denton and unt. he flunked out of unt and is an smu fan at heart.

  7. Just got off the phone with someone who was there. I nearly dropped the phone when I was told Coach Mac, in what appeared to be frustration, had to ask if the folks in the back would like to have the mic?

This brings me to two questions.

    1. Why in hell was he even asked to speak..................AGAIN? This was to be a meet and greet. He gave his press conference already today. Tonight should have been simply a chance for the fans to welcome him. Sounded like a very poorly planned event?

    2. Why didn't someone with the AD dept or any of the rest of you who were there who were frustrated with this, not get up, go over to the loudest group and ask that they take their rude ass loud conversations outside?

Damn! Most embarrassing thing I have ever heard. What he must think of NT already?

    Rick

there were over 400 people in the room. they were asked by rv to be quiet for 5 min for the live tv interview and they were. then after when he went to the hand mike for q and a his volume was louder so people thought they could talk again. most in the back we blocked from view from people standing. i could see how they would could not hear his answers and started conversations again. not a good room or time for questions on a mike, poorly planned.
