  1. Which leads right in to our previous discussion about Boise State's success. They were in the Big West when we were, but you know why they've now moved on? Because their administration and the Boise community decided they wanted a top notch program, so they supported the heck out of it.

it had more to do with getting good coaches and a lot of winning. mississippi state has a lot of support but poor coaching and few wins. support had little to do with boise success except look good on tv.

  2. Conferences looking to expand don't care about the media markets where the Big 12 universities are located (other then Austin), it's DFW, Houston, and San Antonio where the majority of their viewers are watching. In all four of the major Texas markets (Austin, DFW, Houston, & San Antonio) UT reigns as king. However, when you look past the horns, it's Texas Tech that brings in more TV sets then the other Big 12 teams. In Austin, DFW, and San Antonio, Texas Tech is only behind UT in terms of viewers. Texas A&M and LSU bring in more viewers in Houston than Tech, but A&M has less viewers than Tech in the other three major Texas markets.

Bottom line: Texas Tech outdraws the other Big 12 universities on TV, other than UT who's leaps ahead of everyone.

    prove it. typical tech arrogance.

  3. I don't take issue with anything that he did except removing NT from the MVC. I wasn't there to see everything happen, but it seems like being independent didn't do NT any favors after he left.

the mvc as i heard was already breaking up. some schools had already left before ntsu and some the same time we did and whichita dropped football. fry took the best option at the time to go indy is what a friend said. while trying to get into swc

  4. Fry bet the farm and lost, but he wasn't around to pay the price for the ensuing 23 years. He moved on to bigger and better things while NT had its athletics set back a quarter of a century.

wrong on that one. fry gave north texas a sample of what it could have become with winning and proper leadership. poor attendance and lack of school funding caused him to leave and the program to decline.

  5. UTSA already has Baylor on a future schedule. The SBC is not our problem --being competitive on the field with the SBC is the UNT problem. Until we can get the $$ to compete we will continue to get kicked by TROY (whom we are light years behind from a competitive standpoint), FAU (never ever been beaten by NT), MTSU who hired a coach that has kicked our rears ever year since, etc. Criticize the SBC if you must, just remember whose bringing up the rear in the SBC when you criticize. :o

it is not just about football. unt has finished third most years in the bubas all sports rankings. the bottom half of the conference is weak overall in everythiig.

  6. I'm with you on everything but Missouri State and Texas State.

SMU opened the June Jones era with Texas State and drew a little over 22k. Then, they showed improvement and drew 34k for SFA a year later. Is SFA just that big a draw relative to the Bobcats?

I think people will come for the other games you mentioned, but those smaller teams, no matter how much they pass us by in hypothetical WAC conference scenarios, are not a draw by themselves unless people think the home team is going to win and win big.

see, you can do it. good job/.

  7. I've heard some strong rumors out of downtown Dallas about the need to form a secret committee with 4-6 specially selected members chosen from a pool of the same 8 people who've been posting about realignment for 6 years. They really want to find the best poster from Texas State as well and have narrowed that list to 4 candidates, with TulsaFaninTexas considered the wild card to replace all four.

    More in VVIP.

sure take a good thread and derail it. again

  8. http://eagletalk.net/2010/06/22/did-this-years-recruiting-class-help.aspx

eagletalk thinks cole is still at unt. didn't he leave in the spring?

Cole, Williams will not play for UNT next season

Oklahoma State transfer William Cole and safety Darien Williams will not be with UNT next season, Dodge said.

Cole, a former Cedar Hill standout, practiced briefly with UNT last fall after transferring from OSU. He was expected to make an immediate impact for UNT next season at wide receiver.

  9. Wow didn't think that was going to hit a nerve. Just asked a question.

unt may have already told the wac no thanks again before they even asked. a denton blog reporter said this a couple days ago:

First off, multiple UNT officials, including interim president Lane Rawlins, said that UNT has not been contacted by the WAC -- at least not yet. The more people I talk to, the more I believe UNT is going to stay where it is in the Sun Belt unless CUSA comes calling.

  10. = Invite members of the 1952 NT team and staff that opened Fouts to be special guests.

= Ceremonial item (football?) carried from Fouts by player in a 1952 NT Uniform to the New Stadium, then handed off in the stadium to players in all the Uniforms of other eras since then to a current NT player before the game starts. Maybe fans could bid on the opportunity to be one of the Uniform wearers or buy an era Uniform after the ceremony (fundraiser)?

= Time capsule buried to be opened in 50 more years?

= All former North Texas ADs or Head Coaches available?

    this.

  11. Just saying man. You're the one who pressed the issue when you said "such as" - like you forgot about the whole Big XII/Texas/Pac10 trainwreck. If Vito had spoken with your degree of arrogant clarity, and then had it blown up in his face, he wouldn't hear the end of it for a long time. I was prepared to drop it after friendly nudging you about anything being possible, I can't help that you wanted to have examples.

dude, seriously? you have no business telling others about their opinions after some of the crap you post. step down off the pulpit.
