  1. They might as well have replaced his 6 shooter with a sunflower and changed his name to Peety.
  2. It's nice to have some good pub. Too bad Hansen can't see past the Cowboys and the Big XII to extend some love to Denton.
  3. Great Point! With J-Mo and Cobbs we should be fine as long as the other team thinks we MIGHT throw the ball at some point. Otherwise they will be stacking the box to prevent the run.
  4. PS: Read yesterday that Middle Tennessee's (probable) 2'nd string QB is most likely lost for the season with an injury probably caused by the Blue Raiders sub-par artificial turf; you know, the kind of turf similar to that that we just replaced at Fouts? GMG! ←
  5. WOW. And we have MUTS in week TWO!
  6. I stand on the hill outside of the afternoon practices just beyond the black iron fence. I have made it to most of the MWF afternoons. Last year I would sit on the hill at the practice fields for the afternoon practices. In the spring I made it to three or four of the practices and the first Saturday scrimmage. I live less than 5 miles from campus. So, all in all, I would say I have seen him more than the average poster on this board. I think Meager is our best hope for QB this year, he just needs to own the position.
  7. PMG- I have played a lot of football in my life, and watched even more. When a player gets hit hard and stays down - more often than not, usually it's not because he's hurt, it's because he is buying time. Meager is a great physical talent, but I believe there is a reason why no top tier school offered him a scholarship. He reminds me of Kerry Collins of several years back. I half expect him to just hang up his cleats and walk away. Maybe after he gets in a few games and wins a few times he will remember how great it feels to compete and win. I truely believe that if we can just get him in a real game situation, the fire will light inside. I just don't see it in the pratices so far or in spring drills. QB is as much leadership as it is talent. That is what made Scott Hall and Mitch Maher so great in years past. They had the passion that made them want to lead THEIR team. They took ownership of the team. Danny needs to take some ownership!
  8. PMG - I'f your not a little concerned about Meagers durability and desire to play, I think your being naive. For someone who has never taken a snap in regulation, he seems to miss a lot of prep time. I don't want to give up on the guy, but as a Mean Green supporter, I would like him to step up. A lot of players play through pain. Meager has a lot of potential, but he also has no evidence of being dependable.
  9. If there is going to be anything in the center of the field, other than a nice white line, the current detail crew will not be involved. According to them, it was the choice of the school to leave it blank. Adlers idea would be a great one. However, what would we do when the streak is over? Start over at 1?
  10. I was just at the box office and they told me that because the first home game isn't until the 17th of September that we probably wouldn't get them until around the 1st of September.
  11. In any case, some depth at this position would be nice. It is unlikely that the #1 will stay healthy all season. Especially this #1.
  12. Here's to this being the last time we have to visit that hellhole. ←
  13. NT - 17 LSU - 14 Baz kicks one through with time running out. All the LSU fans are stunned. Death Valley is as quiet and the LSU law library. SportsCenter that night runs with J-Mo and Cobbs taking it to the Purple Tigers. NT is in the sportlight for an entire week. MTSU concedes and cancels the game for the following week. Oh Come ON! Can't a guy have a dream??? I may be wrong, but in the event that we do win, I will be one of about three who has it writen down....NT beats LSU. Let's keep our fingers crossed. GMG
  14. How about a big blue star on the 50? I hear there will be a used one for sale in Irving soon. That way, when Patrick or Jamario score, they can run the ball out to the 50 and pose inthe center of the star.
  15. I think having a very simple interlocking "NT" on the 50 would be the way to go. Everyone knows what NT is. We are not trying to change peoples perception or confuse them with yet another logo change. IF the the NT is not an option under our current leadership I am fine with leaving it blank. After all, who says there needs to be anything on the 50. We can be trend setters. We can be unique. It's not like we have blue turf.
  16. On the lefthand side of '91's post - under is Avatar and personal info - you can see a buttone that says CARD. Click it and it will open up a picture of a ring.
  17. Must be hard being a Mean Green Eagle in the middle of Elvis' Tiger land. Stay Hard and Stay Green!
  18. Please expand. When you say "ring" do you mean a mob-like network of people or do you mean an article of jewelry that one might wear on a finger? I guess I could be open to either. GMG
  19. I can't say that you are wrong. I can only say what I know. I agree that it will look odd not having a logo in the center of the field. I have no knowledge about any plans for a "temporary tatoo" for the various occasions this season such a nationaly televised game. You LJ theory is the best so far. If I learn more, I will pass it on.
  20. They can be painted on with a "temporary" paint. Much like they do in the SuperDome in New Orleans. I am pretty safe in saying that the SuperDome does not have the Sun Belt or New Orleans Bowl logo's throughout the Saint's season. No official word on what logo they will be. My guess is that we will have the Sunbelt 30th anniversary logo at the 25 yard lines.
  21. Here are a few details I obtained from the company installing the new turf at Fouts. I had the opportunity to talk with the Supervisor of the Fouts Field project. Center Logo - And we were all wrong. The truth is that there will be NO logo in the center of the field. NT spent extra money on the end zones and opted to leave the center open. End Zones - The lettering in the end zones (which look GREAT!) are not stitched into the turf. They are currently cutting out the grass and are going to glue the letters in place. It takes a long time to get this just right, but it is the only way if you want the letters to last. Cushion - The turf still has to have the rubber brushed into the surface. Currently the grass on the field is over two inches tall. Soon, the installers will spread rubber over the entire playing field and will brush it into the grass. This will caus the grass to stand up and also provide that all important "give" in the playing surface. So if the turf looks a little long to you now, just wait, the finshed product is only about 1/2 tall. Portability - Some have said that will will be able to move the new playing surface to another stadium or practice field. According to the guy's in the know this is never going to happen. They said that after the rubber is installed, the turf can not be moved. The weight of the rubber alone would make this impossible. Many parts of the field are glued and would tear upon removal. Even if you were able to get the glue to release the turf, the weight of the rubber will stretch and tear the turf beyond repair. The new turf was purchased to increase the saftey of the field and give Fouts a better look for a team gaining national attention. There is no intent to move the surface to the new stadium. Hope this info helps answer some of our nagging questions. GMG! P.S. I am interviewing for a part time job with the Mean Green Report.
  22. So do we think that Patrick is somewhere between 1-100?
  23. Glorified High School stadium or not, I am PUMPED about this season! I am so ready for the first home game! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!
  24. IMHO the Mean Green Report is better than ever. The insight and analysis has improved greatly. Harry is doing a great job! Well worth the $45.00. Thanks for being the eyes and ears of the Mean Green Nation! MGF Go Mean Green!
