  1. I think not being happy with a 4-win season given where the program has been, this years schedule and a freshman QB is unreasonable and unlikely. I'd take 4 wins and more competitive games into the second half with the exception of the Bama game in a heartbeat. I'd also like to see those wins come in the second half of the season so we can have some momentum to point to next year.
  2. To that end, if we do lose to Ball State, but hold their 1,700+ yard tailback under 100 yards, I think we will really have hope for the season against Sun Belt foes. I agree with this and frankly that would be a major victory for us. The MAC teams will come into these games saying we will dominate the line of scrimmage, if we can tow the line and force them into some third downs with 4 plus yards for a first it will be a moral victory for us because it means we will be better in Sun belt play.
  3. Mean Green Nation, GoMeanGreen.com sponsor Pourhouse has been picked for the next location to shoot a TV show called Beer, Babes, and Movies. The show is a movie review show that involves audiance participation. We are promoting the event and inviting everyone to stop by and be a part of the audience. 4. I am frankly shocked that they would try to sell us on the this was because of law school bs. We're not stupid - clearly the kid is trying to leave without slamming the door on Dodge. Law school is about LSAT scores and grades, the reputation of undergraduate schools can play a part but it is more about LSAT scores than anything else period. The kid clearly wasn't happy here or he wouldn't be leaving. He was a good player at a need position that played for our head coach in high school for goodness sake! The Vizza departure - although more damaging because of his position - was much more feasible. I just can't believe that they let this happen.
  5. All winning programs from more prestigious conferences. Look we all know that we need a winning program in the Sun Belt to raise our recruiting sights...it is just reality. We had these moments back in Dickey's hey day, when we were literally turning down players who would end up at Baylor and SMU. Our problem was we were so unaccustomed to being in a winning way we didn't know how to take advantage of it and let the sand run through our fingers. Here we are today and yes we aren't the prettiest girl at the dance. There is a reason that Dodge signed so many jucos in this last class and it is to build some momentum and get this ship turned around. Pointing out that Dodge isn't winning the recruiting wars after two dismal seasons is just beating a dead horse for the sake of an agenda.
  6. Wow - she is so impressive. I continue to think we hit a major home run with her hire.

  9. Great news for the Belt! I hope it works out well for FIU.
  10. A good time had by all. Many thanks to nightmare for keeping the tradition going strong. Thanks to everyone involved in the making the game happen and congrats to the white team on their victory. GMG!
  11. It's coming. I gotta spread this out for the long spring and summer sports drought we are about to experience lol..
  12. Good article. http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/archives...d-at-fouts.html
  13. If Johnny were to go - which I don't think will happen - it would be a boon for him and UNT. Johnny would double his salary (didn't Cali make over a mil?) and UNT would become a VERY attractive stepping stone job. I would hate to lose Johnny but we would get a good coach to replace him.
  14. Liked the article too but I take issue with Brett on one point. Look, no one in their right mind would think that UNT would be leaps ahead of where they were last year in the defensive line. What most of us hope is, that they will - in a bend not break DeLoach defensive scheme - be able to slow other teams down. When SBC teams are employing a run it up their throat mentality against us and despite our efforts gaining 6-7 ground yards on first down it's not a good sign. Just forcing our opponents into some 3rd down situations where they have 5+ yards to gain would be a huge improvement. We know that people have high hopes for this team next season and I count myself in that mix but I am realistic. Draylon Ross may shock us all and turn it around but I saw very little out of him or anyone else at the defensive tackle position last season. I am more optimistic about defensive end although depth there is thin. There just are very few playmakers that can be counted on at this particular time. There are very few players that the defense can build a mentality or spirit around. In short we lack leadership in my opinion. I hope they will emerge. Part of the lack of excitement surrounding the defense this spring is the fact that we won't really know much about it until a lot of Jucos show up this Fall. And it scares the dickens out of me that we are relying so heavily on Jucos. In Dodge's defense he did what he had to do. In the interest of ending this on a bright note, I am feeling a lot better about the offense and in particular Rodge. I think he will be moving into this offense quite nicely and the return of a healthy Kelvin Drake is a big part of that.
  15. So sorry to hear about this tragedy and certainly our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
  16. Harry 6-0, 215ish deceptively slow but can block (even though blocking is illegal). Positives: Seem to always end up on the winning team. Negatives: Probably need a paramedic nearby. Mucho thanks to everyone for keeping this tradition going!!! GMG!

  18. I think Holman is a stud who will be a big time player for us quickly. Recruiting rankings are hard pressed to identify and accurately rate guys who come on late in their high school careers.
