    2023 Spring Football Game

    Football to play Spring Game on April 22

    Game will kick at 2 pm at Apogee Stadium

    DENTON, Texas – UNT Football and first-year head coach Eric Morris will play its 2023 Spring Football game on Saturday, April 22, at 2 pm in Apogee Stadium. Admission is free.

    Concessions will be available and Voertman's will hold a UNT apparel sale during the game while also opening the team store. 

    Special concession items will be on sale for a Happy Hour price of $3 including:
    • Soda
    • Large Popcorn
    • Hot Dogs
    • Peanuts
    • Nachos
    • Domestic beer
    The HUB Club will also be open for season ticket holders or interested buyers with staff on-site renewing and selling 2023 season tickets. Complimentary snacks are available for patrons who have renewed their 2023 season tickets and a cash bar will be also available in the club at that time.

    Fans are advised that gates 1, 2, 3 and 4 will all be open beginning at 1 pm. Only the west (home) side seating will be open. Parking lots will only be accessible from Bonnie Brae Street due to road construction at North Texas Boulevard and Apogee Drive.

    Other events on Saturday include a Youth Football Clinic at 12 inside the Lovelace & McNatt Families Practice Facility. More info is available HERE.

    UNT is also hosting the Conference USA Tennis Championship with matches beginning at 12 pm, while Mean Green Soccer faces Texas at 1 pm in a spring match.

    Will Spring game be streamed

    The scripted-play formats, from different field locations, are kind of dull and unemotional.  My hope is it's a regular series and "game" format.  The defense will still probably have the advantage having seen all the plays before in practice.

    To my understanding this will be a Green vs. Black scrimmage (sorry @ADLER).  Not sure if it is a running clock or not.  They will have a unique scoring system to reward defense for takeaways, 3 and out etc..  I would assume green is offense and black is defense.  No need to stream as we can let Cal wait until Sept to find out what our formations look like. 

    I plan on attending the scrimmage and will be providing a full report along with some pictures.  GMG

    UNT Athletics Strategic Plan Update- 2023

    Very positive development.  It is good to set specific goals.   To me this message is very clear cut:

    Our strategic plan will focus heavily on this transition and the areas that will allow us to move our programs into the top third of the American Athletic Conference over the next five years.

    That is an attainable goal and would also position us very nicely for the next round of realignment.  It will take more of our involvement both financially and in time to make it happen.  It is an exciting time to be a North Texas supporter and fan.  We now have a good plan, and so we need to roll up our sleeves and dig into our pockets to make it happen.
