Confident -- We have a good game under our belt already while they are breaking in a new head coach and staff.
Worried -- I think it will be hard for our oline to move SMU like they did UTEP.

Interesting . . .
Can we safely assume that they will stay open later than their usual closing time of 10:00?
Yes they will stay open until the game is over and beyond. No worries there.
They are just new and still ramping up on their hours etc. so that is what they are showing on the website. Also, there is free parking in the back which is nice as that can be a challenge sometimes. They have limited food right now, pizza and pretzel bites etc but Lee Harvey's is right next door and you can get burgers and other stuff there and bring it in if you wish. If you are wanting a super fancy meal I would say go eat and then come watch the game with us after. Me and @KingDL1will be there for the game, with some others and hope you are able to join us. GMG

So where are the Dallas people watching the game?
Hi - i am going to post a separate note on this but I and other GMG dudes are watching the game at a brew pub in the Cedar’s section of Dallas (just South of downtown over near Gilleys). if you would like to join us we would love to have you. It’s a brand new place called Autonomous Society and it’s located at 1928 South Akard Street Dallas, Texas 75215. Hope you are able to join us. Tell The owner Dean you are with Harry and GoMeanGreen.com and he will take good care of you. He has a small menu right now with Infovidual Pizza and Pretzel Bites but Lee Harvey’s is right down the street and has burgers etc which you are free to bring in. He has stadium channel and will be showing the UNT game. He has free parking in the back behind the pub. Link to his Facebook site is here: https://www.facebook.com/AutonomousSocietyBrewpub/

I agree that winning the UTEP game won't make or break Littrell. That said, going on the road to what is basically another country and playing in front of a sold out rowdy crowd to open up possibly your defining season is a BIG deal. Littrell is battling not only for his job but also his ability to remain a FBS head coach. The stakes are extremely high this season for Littrell and UNT. Beating UTEP could really change the perception and mindset of the fanbase in regards to Littrell heading into a battle against SMU at home. I could see at UTEP win on the road impact attendance in a big way for that SMU game as well. Maybe 5K+.

I wanted to share a couple of inside notes on this remarkable Bleed Green story that North Texas fans will appreciate as we head into tonight’s match against Wichita State on a national television audience (ESPN2)at 8PM. There is an amazing story of how they were able to get to this point (win or lose tonight) and it is something North Texas fans should be extremely proud of.
-
North Texas alumnus and donor David Anderson played in the annual Don January golf tournament back in May of 2022. Former UNT player DJ Draper was on his team. The two exchanged business cards and promised to stay in touch.
-
Former UNT player JJ Murray came up with the idea of fielding a North Texas team in the The Basketball Tournament 2022 (TBT) several years ago and got together with DJ Draper after this season to discuss in more detail. The two then came together and started the application process and reached out to find a general manager and financial support.
-
TBT is an open-application, single-elimination tournament played each summer in the United States. The 2022 edition features 64 teams with a $1 million winner-take-all prize, broadcast by ESPN. TBT was founded in 2014 by Jonathan Mugar.
-
It is difficult to get a team in the tourney as any team that wins one game in the prior year gets an auto bid so there are limited spots available. >300 Teams are applying for basically about 30 slots. UNT was one of the last ones to get in.
-
DJ started working on how the team could get funded for travel and expenses and remembered David and called to set up lunch. During lunch David immediately agrees to help support the team and starts making calls to donors etc.
-
Bleed Green were big underdogs in both of their first games against Eberlin and K-State. At this point, if UNT as the underdog again (-7.5) wins tonight against the Wichita State team, ESPN will pick up the tab on future travel and operational expenses.
-
Absolutely NO ONE is preparing to the level that this UNT squad is in terms of game film and practices etc. They are all working so hard and putting in super long hours in terms of practice and preparation. It has truly been a team effort and is a really neat story on how this group came together in such a short period of time to become so successful.
-
A good and loyal group of boosters have again come to financially support North Texas in this situation. This includes but is not limited to, Ernie Kuehne, Don Loveless, The McNatt brothers, Mike and David Riley, David Vanderlaan, C. Dan Smith and of course David and Julie Anderson.
- Coach McCasland is flying in for the game tonight.

Never, and I repeat, never ever count SMU out of anything especially in the world we now live in. You might make yourself look foolish one day.
Agree they cannot be underestimated and NIL seems to play into their strengths.

We are very pleased to welcome back North Texas AD Wren Baker for our summer edition of the podcast. Wren has graciously accepted to spend an hour with us and we are grateful for his time. There is so much to talk about with the realignment, NIL, the new AAC conference, capital projects and many other topics of interest. The podcast should be up for listening this Thursday night (7/14) and we will post links here and on our social media.
As always, we welcome your questions for Wren and feel free to list them here in this thread. We will try to cover as many as we can but likely will do a part II later on and use the rest of them then. Thanks again to Wren for taking the time and as always, Go Mean Green!

The Big 12 is involved in deep discussions to add multiple Pac-12 programs as a way to shore up its membership in the wake of the USC and UCLA defection to the Big Ten, sources tell CBS Sports. At least four teams are being considered with the potential for the Big 12 to add more as realignment continues to shake out.
Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah were mentioned specifically as the teams being targeted by the Big 12, sources tell CBS Sports. There is also consideration of adding Oregon and Washington to make the Big 12 an 18-team league, the largest in the FBS.
A merger of the Big 12 and Pac-12, in some form, is also a possibility.
"Everything is on the table," said one Big 12 source.
There is "no question" the Big 12 has to be aggressive in expansion, another conference source said.
Despite the Big 12's attempts, the Pac-12 released a statement Monday saying it would immediately begin negotiations on its next TV contract, intending to go forward with at least its 10 remaining members. There is a possibility more could be added to the mix, according to a Pac-12 source. The Pac-12's current deal expires in 2024
