  1. I found this post on another site and wanted to share. "The skinny on Alec Morris. Why he went under the radar and other info. Allen High School is a 5A school in Texas that graduates classes of over 1200 kids, the talent pool is deep. He might have started as a sophomore, except the senior was a D1 commit to TCU so Alec played JV to get the reps. Allen High School also has a very balanced game, so Alec isn't the focus of our offense every play. We have a running back that that is a D1 commit, and his highlights are also impressive. Several of these highly rated quarterbacks are all the offense most teams have, which gives them lots of publicity. Alec has also never been to a football camp until the summer before his junior year, whereas most kids start camping in 8th grade to build a following. He went to both Nike Football Training Camp/Elite 11 stops in Texas, at TCU in Fort Worth and Univ. of Houston. Both of these camps had the biggest names in the state and some out of state, and Alec took the top honor of MVP at both camps. The area invitation for Elite 11 finals in San Diego actually went to a kid that Alec bested at TCU. I was at both of these camps and I can honestly say that he looked like a college kid playing with high schoolers. I also know people that were at the June workout Alec had with Alabama coaches, and they most definately tested all aspects of his ability. He threw privately for about 45 minutes with coaches Groh and McElwain, then coach Saban came out to watch. In that time they tested different drops and accuracy to different route points, with power and touch. After that was over they tested strength and stamina by having him throw for distance from his knees. Alec measured at 53.5 yards, which coaches said was a new camp record that had been standing for a couple of years at 51 yards. Alec has a very strong arm, but it's hard to tell from the video because his style is smooth and effortless. I can tell you that the Alabama coaches had difficulty handling some of his hard out routes. While here he measured 6'4", 230lbs and ran a 4.7-40 yard dash. Some other great tidbits are that Alec is a highly competitive natural athlete that just turned 17 about 2 weeks ago, so he is still developing. He is also an excellent student, of good character and no drama. Alec is an excellent addition to the Alabama family and I think everyone will see they gained when they thought they lost on QB's." read more: http://www.tidefans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141522

  3. MGB: Former Alabama QB headed to Denton, according to source http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2015/12/breaking-news-source-alabama-qb-alec-morris-is-transferring-to-unt.html/
  4. Looks like maybe he took less to have a better assistant salary pool?
  5. In podcast #156 Evan, Harry, and Ashton talk about the hiring of new head football coach Seth LIttrell and the excitement it has generated for the fanbase. UNT Athletic Director Rick Villarreal joins the conversation and offers his thoughts on Littrell as well as other items of interest. Brandon Berens joins us from his the UNT campus where he gives us a student perspective on the challenges a student faces during finals. Ashton shares insight from his day spent with Coach Littrell as well as some thoughts on the future of his Beyond the Green series. Click here for the Audio Link to Barbershop Podcast #156
  6. From FootballScoop Georgia: Inside linebackers coach / co-special teams coordinator Mike Ekeler is leaving the staff to pursue another opportunity as a defensive coordinator. Ekeler will not coach Georgia in their bowl game. Will update… Could it be??
  7. Who will be the recruiting coordinator? To me that is an EXTREMELY critical position on this staff. Needs Texas ties, needs to be organized and also a good salesman. My hope is that this position will be elevated in the new regime and not treated as window dressing. We need an aggressive guy who has some strong connections in this area and state.
  8. All of Littrell's staff thus far seem to be around his age or younger. Does he need a more mature assistant to join him on the battlefield? Coach Genero had Coach Wally Riggendorf who he relied on for his experience and helped guide him in the down times. Thoughts?
  9. This article gives a good analysis on our new head coach. Shows a good breakdown of how he's affected offenses at his last three schools. http://www.underdogdynasty.com/2015/12/11/9890776/meet-north-texas-head-coach-seth-littrell
  10. I spoke to a friend of mine from Muskogee who shared with me that Seth was a state champion wrestler in Oklahoma. His dad Jim was as well. So we should add yet another impressive accolade to this guys resume.
  11. Currently the OL coach and co offensive coordinator at Troy. Had a good run at La. Tech before that under Holtz. Key to all this is he coached the OL at Tech while Littrell was running backs coach there and they had good teams. Would he leave Troy to rejoin Littrell? Does Littrell want to bring in a guy who isn't from and hasn't been recruiting Texas lately? Interesting. http://www.troytrojans.com/coaches.aspx?rc=806&path=football http://www.latechsports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/matt_moore_837310.html http://www.texastech.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/moore_matt00.html
  12. To celebrate a new era in UNT Football I think we should honor the past in the opening home game next season. And I think the Alumni Pavilion could a small expansion and minor improvements. Can we get the Alumni Pavilion renamed for Odus Mitchell and announce the name change and expansion plans next September? If you need a history lesson (like I did) here is a link below. For this I might show up for debut of the Seth Littrell era at UNT. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odus_Mitchell

  14. Will Seth Littrell hire any Texas high school coaches for his staff at North Texas? It’s becoming a trend in the area. Last offseason, three Texas high school coaches moved up to full-time FBS jobs in the area: Jeff Traylor at Texas, Claude Mathis at SMU and Corby Meekins at Houston. There are also numerous recruiting and support roles where high school coaches are breaking in. Littrell joined Dan Campbell’s Texas Football Live and was asked if high school coaches will be considered for his staff. “Absolutely. I definitely have an idea of why my staff is going to look like,” he said. “There will be talks with a number of different coaches. At the same time, I’d be hesitant to talk about any names, but it’s definitely something we’re looking at. It’s hiring the best coaches for the best fit. It’s not always who you know or where you’ve been. It’s more important that they fit here and want to be a part of the program. read more: http://coachingsearch.com/article?a=Will-Seth-Littrell-add-Texas-high-school-coaches-to-his-North-Texas-staff
  15. Took a few pics this afternoon when Coach Seth Littrell came and met us in the new Union. Mr. and Mrs. Littrell laughing, having a good time! You can tell he doesn't like being talked about that much. I think he's a "Down to business" dude. Quality of this one is not nearly as good, but that's because it's a phone pic. I got to meet the dude. Coach Littrell is a really cool guy. I think fans are going to love him!
  16. Not the biggest fan of Capper, but this statement is beautiful to see. Exactly what should be happening
  17. I believe he has and OC and a DC picked out..
  18. Completely different atmosphere than what we saw when Mac was hired. He seems well grounded and very focused. Gave respect to his former coaches but did not dwell on it. Seems like a look forward type of guy that just doesn't have time for skepticism. He is not a professional speaker but is thoughtful of each question and that makes him seem more sincere. He seems to think about his responses to questions versus canned cliches. You just get the feeling the guy is going places and it makes you want to be a part of it. This will not be his last stop but that is ok if he makes us better while he is here. I think he will be very successful at North Texas and I am extremely excited that he is our new head coach. GMG!
  19. 1). Consistently competing in and winning football games. We got a taste of this in 2013. This will not happen overnight, but I do expect to see us have a much better 2016 season. 2). Getting a signature win. We had a good first half against Georgia in 2013, but truthfully - this program has not seen a signature win since the Tennessee win back in the Fry era. This has to happen at some point if we expect to jump start our fan following. 3). Fill Apogee. This is an albatross hanging over the neck of the program right now. If Littrell could make it happen it would be a defining moment in his career here. Scheduling some teams who bring fans would help. 4). Connect and reconnect with the fan base. Embrace them. Move away from the secret and select. Open up practices at least to media. Open up social media. With our numbers, social media is a strength that is extremely underutilized. Every person covering the program you can connect with could be spreading the gospel to the masses. Mac never got this and in the old days it was common to keep everything under wraps until game day. Now, there is too much competition for the entertainment dollar. 5). Take chances. What do you have to lose. Make the game entertaining. Mac's conservative nature led to frustrating and boring games. 6). reconnect with our former players. If we could get all of our former players to get engaged with the program again, we would easily sell out Apogee. This is not easy, but it can be done. I would consider creating a staff position focused on this job alone and pay them a bonus based on achievable goals. Let's hear more!
  20. While I have a feeling I'm probably the only Jew on this board, I would like to wish Mean Green Nation a Happy Hanukkah. I feel it very apt that on this first night of the Festival of Lights, the man upstairs (or some rich donors, whichever your beliefs) granted us a man whose offense is designed to "light" up the scoreboard in Coach Littrell. Looking forward to the day where we in Mean Green Nation can state the same message that is on a dreidel (the spinning top compulsive Jewish gamblers bet with instead of the sports books) which is 4 letters that are an abbreviation of the phrase that in English, means "A Great Miracle Happened There" (In Denton, Texas, America) Go Mean Green.
  21. This is interesting for our Athletic Department: The North Texas Athletic Department is pleased to announce Seth Littrell as the 19th head football coach for the Mean Green! The Mean Green Club, Letterman’s Association and the Athletic Department would like you, as a former player, to have the opportunity to meet the new coach before he is introduced to the public. There will be an exclusive meet and greet held in the Apogee Hub Club on Monday, December 7, from 11:00AM till noon. Please share this information with your former teammates and other former players. This event is for former players only. If you plan to attend, you must RSVP toReginald.Johnson@UNT.edu by 9PM Sunday, Dec 6. Click the link below to learn more about coach Littrell.
