  1. WE ARE 7-40 IN OOC GAMES

And 2 of those wins are against 1-AA teams.

Why are your expectations so low? It could be debated whether DD has helped to bring this program to a higher level or we have been the benefactors of playing in the worst 1-A conference in the history of the NCAA.

As far as the UNT job not being attractive, I’m sure there are those who know better but I believe we had quite a few people apply the last time around.

I’m not calling for DD’s ouster but if the success of the program is only going to be measured by our Sun Belt success then we should never expect better things.

  2. Understanding that most are upset/frustrated here are some questions to throw around –

There are a lot of people wanting to see DD change his offense. Is this really realistic or just wishful thinking? I have not always been the biggest DD fan but I do give him the credit for being able to make the adjustments he can, based on the personnel available.

For everyone want to put Phillips in remember the most popular guy on the team (from a fan’s standpoint) is usually the backup QB. Hopefully we have found a player with talent that was overlooked, but he is a true freshman walk-on.

For those who say everything will be OK. Why are your expectations so low? And please do not use the “well our facilities are so……” excuse, this only shows disrespect to the player we do have and have signed.

For the comments about who is or isn’t a die hard fan and we will be OK if we can just average 20K. The reality looks to be that we do not have a base large enough so that there will be 20K at each game come hell or high water. What do we do? Not to be a knock on DD but his style of play is not going to be the fan-friendly style that brings in the casual fan. As for those who want DD to be more outgoing and open up to the fan more, well it’s probably not going to happen and if he did there would be many who would complain about how insincere he was being.

  3. I dont care how bad we are/look right now, or how good ASU thinks they are. Until I see them beat us on the field I for one am not the least bit concerned. These guys let our 4th string RB run down their throat last year, and I dont think they've come that far in 1 year personally.

It might not be a case of how far they have come in a year but rather how far we have fallen in a year. unsure.gifunsure.gifunsure.gif

  4. They could still get him on assault charges. If the county DA isn't too well paid by KState officials, he or she could even try assault with a deadly weapon.

I think it's rediculous how easily athletes (college and professional) get away with this crap. I won't get on my soap box, but I don't care how good you are. If you're a thug, or even if you just make a really bad decision, you deserve to suffer the consequences.  mad.gif

We (UNT) have had our players in trouble and they have played. I am not syaing you are not correct but let's remember our backyard has not always been that clean.

  5. This Mean Green football team (according to the MGRN guys) is the 3'rd youngest team in NCAA D1-A.  Something tells me this is going to be a pure "get the kids experience" rebuilding year.  Still amazes me that we beat the MUTS, although we will still take that "W."

Lest we all forget, the last CUSA football team we beat was its CUSA football champion and that was in a bowl game in 2002. All is not lost, folks.  We are mostly pissed because our team got beat in front of a good crowd last night but.............we will all get over it, some of us already have.

    GMG!

We return the 3rd least amount of returning starters, not the 3rd youngest. If we are going to use the youth/inexperience card then we also need to question why, knowing we were going to be so young/inexperienced we did not hit the JC's a little harder.

  6. Coke Zero is definitely the way to go!  Dickey needs to show he's cutting edge.  Diet Coke is passe'.

    ROTGL!

    GMG!

One thing to say about DD – he sticks with what he knows will work. While others may switch to the “flavor” of the week, DD sticks to what is proven. His goal is not to impress others, but rather to quench that inner thirst! cool.gifcool.gifcool.gifcool.gif

  7. I know the first response is win both.

I know everyone is focused on the conference winning streak and winning another conference championship, however for the future of our program is it more important for UNT to have success in our out of conference games against schools like Tulsa and LaTech? While winning the Belt is great, winning the belt withour OOC wins against D1 teams will hurt us.

  8. It was one game, stop complaining.  It is was more important to have a senior in there in the first game.  Besides, there is already a thread about this...

With all due respect, if you want him out there for his experience and the fact he could help keep our new QB focused that is fine, but enough with this “because he’s a senior”. We need the best players on the field who the coaches believe will help us win the game – period! Some may agree, and others disagree with DD’s tactics, but let’s hope that he fielding the best players based on what they bring to the teams ability to win and not using their remaining eligibility to determine playing time.
