  1. Flying into Montgomery? I hope you don't get lost in that airport! J/K.....it's a really small regional airport. Do you need any directions, etc.?
  2. I agree totally. So far, we have gotten everyone's best shot and I expect the same from UNT. If I remember correctly, we were the ones that ended UNT's winning streak several years ago. That was a big deal to us as I am sure it would be to you. Here's to a good game with no injuries. BTW, if anyone is coming to the game, I would be glad to help out any way that I can.
  3. The game is definitely @ 2:30 Central.
  4. I am one poster on that site that doesn't see this game as a blowout. This could very well be a shootout with the game lasting over 4 hours. I am VERY nervous about this one!

    Troy Tv?

Our stadium before the "remodel"...... http://football.ballparks.com/NCAA/SunBelt/TroyState/ The latest renovation cost Troy 18 million..... http://www.troytrojans.com The Troy University football program unveiled a newly renovated, $18 million Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium as the final piece of its Division I-A move in fall 2003. The project, which took more than a year to complete, increased the facility's seating capacity to 30,000, an increase of more than 12,000 seats. Construction began on the project in July 2002 and was completed in time for the Trojans' 2003 home opener against Southeast Louisiana on Sept. 20. The stadium has seen tremendous growth and change during its 54-year existence. It was built for a mere $65,000 as Memorial Stadium in 1950 and seated just 5,000 spectators. Several renovations followed, including in 1998, when the facility moved from a 12,000-seat capacity to 17,500. Construction began in July 2002 to expand its capacity to 30,000, with the largest part of the project being a new six-story press box structure that houses 27 sky boxes, a state-of-the-art media hosting facility, a unique Trojan Stadium Club area that houses more than 1,000 guests, and floors dedicated to sports medicine, academics and strength & conditioning.

    Troy Tv?

The game is on TV here in Alabama (CSS, I believe) but I'm not sure if you can get the game in TX. BTW, BSU was favored by 25 last night.
  8. Not to keep beating a dead horse.....wanna know why we seem to hold our own against "big name" teams? http://www.dothaneagle.com/gulfcoasteast/d...08-29-0025.html
  9. I am always concerned when it comes to Maestri and recruiting. He has to recruit guys willing to play in a dump with no real hopes of that ever changing. Meastri loves JUCOs and I believe it has started to come back to haunt him after all these years. We need to start recruiting quality high school talent but, for some reason, that ain't happeing. Honestly, I would love to see Maestri leave and turn the reigns over to David Felix (assistant HC). Felix has the fire and passion for the game that Maestri seems to lack at times.
  10. We play all zone with maybe a few minutes of man to man mixed in. We need an inside presence.
  11. Pretty good analysis.... Toombs is a tad undersized for his position and therefore is not the physical type guy we need. I hope he adds some bulk in order to be more physical. Bassott is spelled Bassett. Bassett is our main man and we definitely live and die by his play. Jennings is basically just another body and isn't going to light up the scoreboard in any game. Jonus is our primary outside threat but can be streaky at times. Williams is just another body as well but should give us some much needed depth in the backcourt. Hazzard is o.k. but nothing special. I think the backcourt is in great shape and I hope we can find a big man or this season will turn out like the last two.
  12. Troy is doing something very similar....we recognize the need for more $ in order to retain the current coaching staff and better compete in 1-A. http://troytrojans.com/doc_lib/Warriors-For-Web_06-08-07.pdf
  13. I don't waste my time with them.....they would find some way to spin it and make themselves look better in the process.
  14. Want to know why the Trojans always seem to play the "big boys" tough? Here is an interview with one of our starting DBs.... Drew Champlin dchamplin@dothaneagle.com Like most of his teammates, Troy cornerback Elbert Mack is eagerly awaiting the release of NCAA Football 2008 on the Playstation 2. Mack wasn’t on the game last year as a junior college transfer, but the senior has already seen ratings for the game and knows what to expect. “I wasn’t on the game last year but I’ll be on it this time,” Mack said. “I’ll just be happy to be on it this time. “Some of the people are overrated and some are underrated. I won’t say who, but it’s fun to sit around and laugh knowing you’re faster than someone on the video game.” Mack said he’s a fan of Utah on the game because of the Utes’ spread offense, but that won’t be the first team he plays with on this version, scheduled for release in mid-July. “I’ll play with Troy,” Mack said. “Most definitely I’m going to play with myself. I’ll have to.” Mack, a Wichita, Kansas native, visited with the Dothan Eagle for a question and answer session. Q: What was the biggest adjustment about being at Troy for the first time last year? A: Being so far away from home. Not being able to hug your mom and play with your little brothers. That’s the biggest thing, because everyone else gets to go home. You have to adapt and go home with someone else and adapt to someone else’s family. It makes it that much sweeter when you see your own family. Q: Has your family seen any of your games in person yet? A: I had about 30-40 in the stands for the Nebraska game, but I got hurt in the second quarter and didn’t play any more. It’s a blessing because my family was so happy to see me play. This year they’ll try to make it to the Oklahoma State game and both games in Arkansas. Q: When you look back at the New Orleans Bowl, when you had such a big game (two interceptions in a 41-17 win over Rice) after your father passed away earlier that week, how big was that? A: It was very big. Looking back at it now, it’s even bigger than it was then. For me, the emotional roller coaster I was on, for me to go out and have a good game and for all my people to see me play back home (on ESPN), it was a big achievement. It was another stepping stone and I stepped over it. I know my dad was watching. He hasn’t gotten to see me play since high school, so that was a blessing. He’ll be watching from here on out so hopefully I can get two picks every game. Q: Did you get a lot of calls after the game? A: I got a lot of phone calls and text messages but I tried to ignore most of them until I got home because I was still on an emotional high. Q: Did that game bring out the best in Troy on both sides of the ball? A: That showed the caliber of the team we should be this year. From the beginning of last season till the end, we looked like two different teams, offensively and defensively. We’ve got a lot of people coming back and we’ve got a chance to do some big things. Hopefully everything will click and we can go back to the New Orleans Bowl or something bigger. Maybe we can be the Boise State of this year. Q: When you look at facing teams like Arkansas and Florida, what goes through your mind? A: You know they have tradition and everyone knows who they are and no one knows who we are. The saying is in the locker room every week: They put on their pants just like we put on our pants and we’re trying to go out and make a name for ourselves. Hopefully we can go out there and play with the best of them and let everybody know that Troy’s just not a pushover and we’re ready to win and that’s for real.
  15. I have some kin folk in Huntsville as well. Man, that is a nice area to live!
  16. I've said it before and I'll say it again.....that's the difference between us and many of the other schools in the SBC. We believe that we can win ALL the games we play.....from the players to the fans, we BELIEVE!
  17. I'm not sure how we lost to UAB either....maybe due to us breaking in a new offensive scheme and our killer schedule? Our schedule in 2006.... @ FSU @ GT @ Nebraska @ UAB I think the boys were wore out. Still no reason to lose to UAB! Sorry guys.
  18. Not sure if you want Chris Bradwell or not.... http://www.troytrojans.com/index.php?s=&am...hange_well_id=2 Troy University Football Players Suspended 08/11/2006 TROY – Three Troy University football players have been indefinitely suspended from the team following accusations of off-campus misconduct. Chris Bradwell, a junior defensive end from Alpharetta, Ga., Maurice Coleman, a sophomore defensive lineman from Eufaula, and Nikko Doyle, a junior linebacker from Batesville, Miss., were suspended Friday afternoon by Trojans Head Coach Larry Blakeney. The incident is being reviewed by University officials and the students have been placed on temporary suspension until appropriate hearings are held.
  19. I hope so! UNT's success will do nothing but help the perception of the conference. Don't expect us to just hand you the championship, though! j/k
  20. The jury is still out on the decision to swith to a 4-2-5 defense, but let there be no doubt that this team has speed. We, like the players, believe that we can go to Arkansas and pull out a W. That attitude has been instilled in the players since our move to 1-A and I believe is one of the main reasons for our recent success. We aren't intimidated by anyone.... I wish more teams in the Belt would feel this way and then maybe we could get more OOC wins for the conference.
  21. You guys booking your hotel rooms in NO already? I am sure the MUTS are....j/k.
  22. Congrats on the win last night against Troy. I knew this would be a tough game and I figured we would drop this one. Man, I hate we have to play at Denver after a loss to you guys! Maybe we will be able to knock the Mean Green off when they come to Troy but until then enjoy your win. North Texas was the better team last night and I accept that we lost to the better team.
  23. Thanks for the kind words. Now, go out there and win the rest of your games and we will try to do the same!
