  1. I would like to hear your comments about this talented and vivacious professor who just recently passed away.

I had two classes with her in the late 70's and enjoyed her lectures. However at the time I did not realize that a learning disability that I have was effecting my concentration and this lead to many academic struggles.

One day I decided to approach Dr. McWhorter during her office hours to see how I could do better on my tests. When I walk in she was painting her nails next to a larger Greek statue. I asked her how I could I do better in taking her tests, will she blew her top and she told me to get the heck out of there. I had a lot of bitterness toward her after this till I graduated in 1981. Fortunately there were other professors that did take the time to explain how to improve my test scores.

    May she rest in peace.

  2. What we are seeing are the fruits of Cincinnati belonging to a BCS conference, pure and simple. You can rag on the Big East all you want but they are still BCS. Better recruits, more BCS money, and more TV exposure. When D1A was formed and the 30,000 capacity stadium requirement came about, Cincinnati did the right thing and stayed 1A. UNT, in it's infinate wisdom, decided to drop to 1AA. The rest is history.

Your right but we can't brew over spilled milk.We have to move on. The good thing know is with all the info out there and the internet, we the fans have more of a say.

  3. Good Positive Post.

    *************************************************************************************************************

"He hasn't helped recruiting" are you joking here?

There was a post on the FB forum that NT would never have a quality program without better quality recruits then goes on to say we won't be able to obtain quality recruits until we have a new stadium and higher quality players....is that an oxeymoran?

I don't count TD's 07 recruiting class as he had less than 30 days on the job but wound up with some quality recruits Jesse DeSoto, Sam Dibrell, Micah Mosley, AJ Penson, Kyle Russo, Giovanni Vizza and Cam Montgomery.

Saying we can't commit against big name schools.......are you joking?........Look at our 08 class

In 07 we won only 2 games yet in Feb 08 recruiting we had signed LOI from recruits over the following big time schools:

Lance Dunbar chose Nt over offers from AzST, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Virginia, OK ST,Colorado and Missouri

Troy Franklin chose Nt over offers from Tulsa and Colorado state

Willie Taylor chose Nt over offers from A$M and Tulsa

Desmond Brigham chose Nt over offers from Arkansas, Missouri and A$M

Coleman Feeley chose NT over offers from Baylor, UH, Rice, SMU and UTEP

Kylee Hill chose Nt over offers Tulsa and Northern,

James Hamilton chose NT over offers from SMU, UTEP, Tulsa, Kentucky and New Mexico State

John Shorter chose NT over offers from SMU, TCU, Iowa State and Tulsa

DeWaylon Cook decommited from SMU and chose Nt over offers from TCU, KST, Utah and West Virginia

Justin Edwards chose Nt over offer from SMU, TT, TCU, KS, Tulsa and Ole Miss

ADryan chose Nt over overs from Tulsa, Kansas, KSt, OkST and A$M

Jeremy Phillips chose NT over offers from Rice, Baylor, Duke and Army

I didn't count Riley Dodge (with 5 offers) because of his relationship with his father.

If I remember correctly we had a higher rated recruiting crop over SMU and TCU according to the experts in 08.

Our 09 recruits include one Anthony Charles a 3* JC LB over offers from Kansas, Kansas State, Fresno State and South Florida

In 09 we are recruiting DT (the hardest position to recruit because the big schools stock pile them (with 9 or 10 DT's on their squad) ...see separate post on this...) against the biggest name schools around..and are still in the running for several of those...I believe we will have a good recruiting season once it is over...despite our two year record.

  4. Coach DeLoach has told individuals that the biggest problem since the last time he was in Denton is conditioning. Just look at those 2 OL that we got from JC. One guy weighted near 400pds and both these guys were out of shape.

  5. Hey Quoner: I thought that this poster was meant for some of our members of Congress and their bailout plan.

Yikes - I don't even know where to start. The twist and turns on this board would be hilarious if not for the reality they are currently based on. I'd really just like for everyone to line up and apologize to TFLF. You branded him a psycho Dodge-hater for over a year and now he is one of the few who hasn't gone crazy digging into an extreme position. It's a good thing Kenny Evans is such a level-headed guy…

Anyway, let's get to the links:

It's time to sit down and revisit the idea of the spread offense curing cancer: http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43152

We suck, but we are NO Idaho: http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43163

Kram1 thinks you are the problem – now shut up and cheer: http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43133

Seriously, shut up and cheer. You knew we were going 0-4 before the season started anyway. But at least we didn't play to loose! http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43112

Other teams have gone winless before, and hey, these schools are really great now: http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43156

What to watch for this week:

A big f'ng mess of manic madness. There will be many negative posts and a handful of positive posts but one thing is for sure – 95% of them will be presented in a way that will make us proud to have the Athletic Department call this the idiot board.

So, since I'm not taking a stand on topics for this week, let's do something new and just take odds on which posters get in a fight:

    2:1 Kram1 (passive-aggressive heavy weight division)

3:1 Tasty (black uniform undercard division)

5:1 Green Dozer (pissed off long-time donor division)

6:1 UNTFlyer (Students for a New Stadium who finally snap under the weight of dealing with all of you division)

10:1 Cerebrus (it just makes sense)

    100:1 UNTgirl04 (ticking time bomb…)

1000:1 GreenBrigadeDebbie (maybe, just maybe, the MOB sent her over the edge)

  6. Let me tell you that the athletics staff do watch out for these young men. They require constant progress reports. The students have to attend their classes. All of them, no absences or coach intervenes. Same with any in-class issues. A coach will come to class and straighten out a student. They have required study hall times. Some students, the ones that are "the ones with grade problems" also have academic coaches that give them additional help. These people are working hard to support our athletes.

At some point, the student has to fulfill their end of the bargain.

Not everybody is made to go to college. It to bad there is not somekind of trades degrees for some of these individuals. They could take a combination of classes such as bricklaying, carpentry, welding, etc. What do you guys think?

  7. Thank you SHOSS - as I said below:

I just gotta say, if I were this kid - I would call Price at UTEP and take his offer after reading this board. Our fans are a bunch of whiney babies. This kid just committed to play for our school (who cares at what position?) and the very first day of the committment I am sure that he will come onto this board to read about it.. He will get to read "well, nice to have you - but who cares really, you don't play defense and we will not even give you the courtesy to say welcome aboard for 24 hours"...

His committment is an oral, non-binding committment. I almost encourage him to yank it after reading some of our fans responses.

Hey kiddo, stick it out with the Mean Green - you will be catching lots of passes from Riley someday. Don't worry, we will have a defense out there to handle that as well. Welcome aboard and thank you for seeing the vision of Todge! We all know he will do great and we are glad to have you part of the rebuilding efforts!

Welcome to North Texas. It is a great school that will give you a very good education. I look forward to seeing you on the field.

  8. So then this is the same guy for sure that played at Denton High. Heck maybe he can reconvert to say Buddism, they practice non-volence.

Tre's father is Leonard Logan and not Steve. Tre went to A&M but quit when he thought he was not getting enough playing time (among other things he had an attitude problem). He converted to Islam and claimed it had turned his life around. I have not heard much about him in years, I was saddened to read about this incident.
