  1. When I heard sledgehammer I thought it was used in a synbolic way like when gernade was used after the last game. But this is the real thing.

If somebody could paste this article on the WKU site. Most of those people on that site think nothing is wrong with their team when it comes to sportsmenship.ote name='flyeater' date='Nov 26 2007, 10:58 AM' post='318144']

DAMN...a sledgehammer? I've seen guys take off helmets to use as wielding instruments, but where do you just pick up one of those things after a football game? That's some seriously medieval behavior. Just imagine if someone had left an axe laying around instead of a sledgehammer...oh, the humanity! :(

  2. Because they are Hillbillies Harry.

I would put this right up there with nasty weather games ever! Nice win on senior day though. Congrats to Coach Dodge and staff. WKU was one of the most undisciplined, cocky I-AA teams I have ever seen. If they pull that kind of crap with the schedule they have next year (no Moorehead States) they are in trouble! GMG!
  3. By the way, let me remind about the person you speak of as he should know a little about facing the triple option since he and his teammates did so three years straight against Wacker's vaunted TCU option offenses in '84(finished the season ranked 12th nationally), '85 and '86. In '85 our all-conference LB led a defense that held TCU's ground game to 14 points in a 14-10 loss, and finally got a win against them the next year in '86, 24-20. It's made the biggest impression on me when I see and hear and these guys who have excelled at this level shaking their heads in disgust in what they have seen on the field this season in regards to defensive schemes and adjustments.

    Rick

Rick can you take a sabbatical from your job and go out there and lead the defensive?

  4. I happen to stop at my old dormitory at McConnell and was told by the front desk person that there was a group from Bruce and McConnell Hall that were there on Friday night followed by a dinner at Bruce.

Was there anybody from the late 70's to early 80's?

I happen to meet a guy I had not seen since 1981 and we went to get a bite to eat. Earlier in the day I stopped at the Alumni Office and asked the lady if anything was going on during the day. She told me only about the parade.

I was upset because it always great to see people that you lived with. Hopefully next year I will remember to be around and ask more questions.

  5. My brother, a rabid NT fan, had to be in Houston tonight on business and TRIED to listen to the game on the Conroe, Tx arm of the Mean Green radio network. He tells me that he was listening to a close game driving through downtown Houston at the end of the third quarter, when suddenly the song Hallelujah Hallelujah began playing. He thought it was just a break in the action, but that was not the case as the game was no longer being broadcast on that channel. Now I'm a fairly religious guy myself, and attend church on a fairly regular basis, but they need to either broadcast our games or not broadcast our games. I've experienced the same thing in the past for both our B-ball and F-ball games. It would be nice to know if you're going to be cut off in the heat of the action. I've sent them my two cents on the subject, and have included their email address below for anyone else who thinks that this should change. Maybe RV needs an email also.

It bring back memories of the Heidi Game back in 1968 when the Jet were playing Oakland and Oakland was down by two touchdown with a few minutes left in the game and NBC interupted the game to show the movie Heidi and Oakland came back with two minutes left and won the game. There were alot of angry fans.

  6. This is the first post that I have opened since before the game last night. I agree I was really embarsed watching it last night with a group of meangreen fans in a sport bar in SA.

I had been making plan to attend the SMU game next week but after leaving this sports bar after the beginning of third quarter I told myself forget it.

This morning I was thinking it just seems that when I attended NT from 1978 to 1981 we have not be able to get a consistant team. I hope that I am wrong and that this new coach will bring something new to our school.

  7. I'm sorry to have read in The North Texan that Sheila Smitty died in a car accident. Did any one of you know her? She had lived at McConnell Hall from 1978 to 1981. McConnell was an upper class dorm during this time. It was one of the smallest dorms and it was community type of atmosphere.

  8. Blurb from Texas Prep on UNT.

North Texas, Oklahoma State add commits

Los Fresno offensive tackle Eloy Atkinson, who plays for former UNT player Scott Ford, is North Texas' fourth commit for 2008 ... North Texa also is close to getting a commitment from Mart safety/receiver Kenny Barrett (6-4, 190)

Former Plano West QB Eric Johnson is expected to transfer to North Texas. Johnson (6-2, 215) signed with SMU in '05 and transferred to Texas State. Johnson's brother J.J. Johnson, a center, signed with SMU in '07.

NOTE: "Johnsons brother J.J. Johnson, a center, signed with SMU in '07" (GADZOOKS !)

Give us some stats on Eloy Atkinson.
