Great game, and great day! Thanks everyone again for making this a great annual tradition. I think next year we need cheerleaders! (Hope24 and Twodollarpistol may not be available for the player draft next year!!!...hehe) Thanks again to Harry and Evan for the Podcast, and certaily to Curt (TexasStranger) for the volunteer ref work. He really earned his money yesterday! Also, great BBQ Rick! See you guys at the Desparados games. GMG!!!

Blake wants to coach football, like his Dad. He will do well coaching... he is great with kids and a good motivator. He will also be a great ambassador for UNT athletics. Some of you guys on the white-team from GMG Bowl-III will remember Blake was an honorary coach for us. (Isaac Thomas had the green team) Darrell Dickey had the bulk of the Mean Green Football team watching us play from the sidelines, and they were really hooping and hollaring like we do to them during football season. Anyway, we (white team) were getting beat and I asked Blake to give us a half-time pep-talk. I loved his "no nonsense" way of getting us fired up... "You guys need to run faster and catch better...you're awful, really???...you're probably going to lose." (That was damn funny!!!!) It's hard to lose the quality players and good guys each year, but it makes you feel good when they go on to accomplish great things. Blake will be one of those guys. GMG!!!

I think we still hit close to the 5K mark. Most people I've talked to are very interested in the new defense. If the scrimmage is anything like the practices I've seen, should be an action-packed 80 plays. I'm in for that... GMG!!!

Anyone who wants to can certainly come watch. As for volunteers, we can always use extra help somewhere? Show up and Mellissa will find something for ya. GMG!!!

There were some really good video clips of Riley running for TD's, as well as firing the ball downfield. It's easy to be mislead by his size, but Riley has above-average arm strength and really throws a good deep ball. I wonder how many other schools have this question to consider?... "Do we start a State Champion who has already broken most North Texas passing records?, OR... do you play a Three-time State Champ and Ahtlete of the Year?" Those videos wont help put that discussion to rest anytime soon??? Good stuff!!! GMG!!!

UNT Football 08: The winning starts the second our "Deloach Defense" hits the field!....the whinning starts the second those Navy-game highlights hit the Jumbo-tron. UNT Football 08: This year we want the Sugar bowl!, not another "same ole-same ole" year in New Orleans. UNT Football 08: What does NT have that Mack Brown doesnt?, two Dodges and an empty office for an "on-staff" defense attorney. GMG!!!

Some of these are really good... Let's think outside the box. UNT Football 08 - Yes, the cool stadium in Denton!... well no, that one belongs to a high school?? UNT Football 08 - Come cheer for Giovanni Vizza!!!... who's second generation mafia, so be careful??? UNT Football 08 - We'll win 10 games this year!!!...and lose only 6! That's jumping the gun a little, dont you think? Unless you are very close to Chase, I'm not sure how you could know that? Why couldnt Chase be supportive of both guys and just back whoever is in the saddle? Not that it really matters that much, he's a "Grad-assistant"... not a position coach? I think Riley and Vizza will co-exist just fine, and Chase Wasson will find his place supporting EVERYONE on this team. If he could not do that, Todd Dodge would not have brought him here. TD has been preaching "one team on one journey" since the day he got here. I think I'll trust in that... GMG!!!

Dont think you'll have to worry about that. First, our defense cant get any worse?, but most importantly Gary DeLoach is the real thing. The practice I was at had DB's and LB's being very aggressive. If we dont see any other changes, at least we see the return of the blitz. Most of us remember Chris Hurd, Taylor Casey and Cody Spencer flying through the line at the QB's... THAT ALONE may be enough to improve this defense from last year. I think things will be much better this season. My only real question is at DT, where we are shakier than Vince Young's down-field reads? I know Isaac Thomas and Jo Miller are there, but too many questions and not enough bodies? I guess we'll see soon enough? GMG!!!

That's okay... we're playing 8 on 8 anyway, so whoever is there will get playing time. We also drafted 97and03 without knowing for sure if he will be there? Those are "just in case" draftees. Should be a great time out there... what happened to AB this year??? Didnt see J-Barn's stuff either? Let me know if we need a "supplemental" draft. Med

Late entry: TWODOLLARPISTOL A female veteran of three GMG bowl games. Positives: Anyone who has seen her can name about twenty... She has caught a TD pass in two GMG bowl games. Negatives: Very distracting to male players, including teammates. May run very slow, and most players never noticed!!! Highlight: Drank late one night in Las Vegas and got a little out of hand. She woke up in her hotel room with Tom Cruise. When interviewed in the Lobby, Tom said "I couldnt believe it?, the girl looked at me and said "You're not Johnny Quinn?"....then kicked me out? I dont know who this Quinn guy is, but I'm sending him a picture autographed with "screw you" on it". Prediction: Early first round pick.

Yes, he does. Ex-scholarship player, and was a damn good one! No problem though, he gets to help the average Joes cover a ringer... which none of us could do last year. All board posters are welcome in this game. AND... if the worst happens and AB lights us up again?, at least Coach Archie can yell at him and tell how sloppy the routes were??? AB will certainly remember the "Flannigan-motivational sideline speeches". I bet coach Archie could do a Flanny for us... Coach Archie: "You lolly-gag when you block.... Sorry, no numbers. Just Logo's and names. We tried the numbers things the first two or three years, and it was a constant source of conflict. Maybe for GoMeanGreen.com Bowl XVIII (played in our newly opened stadium) we will do a comemorative replica NT jersey with numbers. Of course by then I will be Mayor of Denton, and the Tomato will be back on Fry Street. GMG!!!
