Who will be the next UNT Head Football Coach?
TalonsUp replied to meangreenfaninno's topic in Mean Green Football
Ok all I did was copy and paste a paragraph from football scoop. But I sure didn’t feel warm and fuzzy after reading it. And yes of the contestants I’m a Carthel camper -
If cheap concerns you throw a bunch of money at them. You wanna give a Dc role to a man that knows he’s the better of the two. I’m sure anyone would jump at that. We throw money around to solve our issues that makes us demorats

Oh he must have changed his mind! It doesn’t matter how long ago the man wasn’t wanting us -
Who will be the next UNT Head Football Coach?

That said, sources close to Fuente have indicated there's no guarantee he would take the job if offered. The 46-year-old can afford to be picky in his sabbatical, and only Fuente can say if the Mean Green check enough boxes. From football scoop the guy didn’t even want us! Not an attitude to win anyone over but he’s buddies with WB and it’s the easiest path -

Fair enough. kc keeler. But he’s cusa and he’s not looking for a challenge he’s riding there and as long as he is under consideration it’s more profitable for him to stay put van Malone plenty of experience but not HC experience but is the DC of the big12 champs but I keep coming back to Carthel because we as a fan base can get behind him. Nil deals can be won over. Texas high school coaches love him not to mention a lot of big 12 coaches (portal acquisitions). He’s had to recruit those kids that aren’t p5 and it looks like he’s putting a few in the league. (Db for dolphins, Xavier Gibson and bj Thompson). Nobody was looking at Kator. He stole Gibson from smut and he picked up Thompson from Baylor after his freshman year. All by relationships -

Fuente mullin and the likes have no idea where rusk Texas even is. You can bet Carthel knows. Probably even lost Mccown kid to Colorado. I want aggressive we can’t compete for sec talent. But you can bet sfa is under Mccown consideration due to the relationship already in place. -

Unlikely Fuente won’t take a job and not pick his guys. Fuente probably has other unemployed buddies that wouldn’t mind the work. Maybe a son in law to coach defense we’re good with that here -
Highly doubt it, hopefully we don’t lock a bunch of money up in a “big boy” contract that we ruin all recovery chances, once we realize we screwed ourselves.

Not that I’m for AB, but why was he the only one with a “death sentence “ the entire staff and the AD are just as guilty. Yet they are mostly flourishing in college football. We bring PB in and only get minimal flack, Montgomery and Gillespie get gigs at Christian/private schools. AD goes to Liberty. And Briles is exiled overseas or to Mt Vernon

Gabe Brooks/David Smoak Segment About UNT Job
TalonsUp replied to jtm0097's topic in Mean Green Football
I’m wondering what school your coach friend considers a good relationship with. Reading some of Carthels (sfa) info not only has sfa excelled in fcs recruiting but last year he lost a DC and 5 position coaches to La tech and TCU There are also 2 grad assistants from “the Carthel tree” on TCU staff looks like the sfa coach that recruits the dfw area is their dline coach Faske. See what kind of relationship he has with your guy. -
Texas State didn’t think that out too well. And 4 years at south plains tech is not credible. from all the hearsay Tex st went after Morris with their coin purse not a brinks truck and he told them just how and why they will continue to suck
-
I’d say if he ever wanted to be G5/P5 HC he’d have to have a P5 coordinator skins to do so. And the family could have used the extra 200k
-
AND GJ Kinne rides Morris coat tail and Tex State believes that this years team is full of kinne recruits and gives him a couple mil. Wow
-
3 schools this year topped all programs. Traylor Joey and Spikes. These first 2 cats had less skins than Carthel. Big Ed wants to get closer to the dice table and the purty girls. Let UNlv shoot their shot it ain’t happening. Ok we have a boatload of money pay a coach get a staff and use the leftovers for Nil. I’d also be willing to say if you walked into any school in the dfw. Carthel will be better received than Fuente or sumlin or holtz
-
Only if you want to build back to a time when folks got excited about UNT football or want a coach with the fire and passion for his athletes and his program to dance near naked on the field. If not You best stay away from Carthel. If you want a coach that knows this was a step down for him. Get your name! With the digs we have and our location. Carthel will smoke Traylor and Joey. Look he saved d2 commerce and he’s had numerous top recruiting classes in fcs

What would it take for you to have Seth come back?
TalonsUp replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
While we debate this what should be our main target is drawing interests from smut! Colby Carthel. He’s a D2 natty winner, a program saver and he’s taken mostly sophomores to the FCS playoffs in 2 years of work -
Exactly and yet we still hire a guy who has NEVER held a position whether offense or defense that recruits. Not talking about tweet some kid, actually walked through a coaches office or a kids living room. I'm not blowing air cuz I know someone, (perhaps Oscar Giles though), but there has to be somebody that's held down the position and recruited. Heck maybe reach out to the successful high schools in the area and take a recommendation. But likely in order to get Bennett we were required to take kinfolk. So lets just move on
-
So instead of someone that can recruit east texas, we hire the daughters future husband from an island. SMH But on the other hand securing employment for multiple years.... sorry can't draw a positive. Lots of speed in the area from Texarkana to Beaumont for UNT to raise a white flag on. THATS a Blevitt and does mean diddley schit
-
I don’t know but at the end of the season seth is an oc at a P5 making more money PB has gotten 400k and given the newlyweds a 150k job and a D1 position title for his resume and we go back to square one
-
It’s a slap in the face to a young man like Novil. Why would he stay? Why would any talented kid feel the need to come to Denton where you can coach your position coach. These big hosses wanna go to the league, now who’s gonna prepare them. I can get over the nepotism but hiring someone that doesn’t coach the position or that has a clue about going into a kids living room and recruiting is unacceptable.
-
It’s his son in law
-
Cheese and rice! Of all the defensive line coaches out there, We go an hire Bennett’s son in law. Who’s an Offensive analyst on an island state. Resume looks like he’s never entered a high school much less recruited anyone. What a freaking blevitt!
