If they are doing a Blackout with their uniforms perhaps we should do a Whiteout with ours ..... white helmets, white jerseys, white pants. I know there are those who don't like that look but it would sure be a contrast to UTSA.

When I enrolled at North Texas State College in the Fall of 1960 we had about 8000 students. Only one-third of those were girls, but even then there were some beautiful gals in that bunch. I was lucky enough to get one of them to marry me. The place is far different today but there are still a bunch of darned good looking girls there.

I heard a funny story about the start of Gatorade on the University of Florida campus. The scientists that first developed it got the Florida football team to try it out at a game. The report back was that the stuff was helpful but "this stuff tastes like piss". Because they were scientists they went back to their lab and ran taste tests. They later reported that "no, it doesn't". I think I read this report on the internet so I know that it must be true.

Jim, it was nice to see you four guys after the game on Saturday. We have missed you. I hope you get to come back again soon.

If you have not seen the final two plays of the Oklahoma State Vs Central Michigan find a way to watch it. It is the most unusual thing I have ever seen at the end of a football game. Just watch it.......

Oh, no !! We have posts that have disappeared or moved. Moderators know nothing of it. I'll bet we have the "ghost" of RV come back to haunt the GoMeanGreen.com message board. Some of you guys (and you know who you are) had better hang loose if he ever figures out how to get some voodoo dolls.

- As long as we get the kicker from that Texas State team I will be happy.

Sadly, I can't disagree with this right now. Maybe by November things will be different, but today...........

I am not sure how many of these late signees will help our team in 2016 - or even make it to campus - but I appreciate that this coaching staff is out knocking on doors and turning over rocks to try to get some better players to work with. They are not sitting around eating BonBons or trying to figure out a way to play another 18 holes of golf today. That kind of effort will pay off in the long run.

I agree with Harry. There is good and bad about Rick. Let's move forward and support the next Athletic Director...... whoever that may be.

4MYMGE you might check with the UNT athletic department to see where the team is staying. We did that on our trips to previous games and it worked out pretty well.

That is a great trip. We have done it twice and would encourage anyone to do it. Go up a day early or stay a day later to get a tour of West Point. They do not do tours on game day. It is well worth your time and effort. Prior to the game on Saturday mornings the cadets "parade" (I am sure they do not call it that) in their formal uniforms. That is worth seeing, too. The game is great and the pageantry is awesome.

Harry, shortly after the Portland State game last year I put all of my UNT caps in the closet and have not yet had the heart to get them out.

I thought I might be the only one who felt that way about John Nitardy. I am glad to know that others feel the same.

Did anyone attend the event in Ft. Worth last night ? If so, how did it go ? We were planning to go but our grandson's baseball game was rescheduled to last night due to some previous bad weather and we preferred to go to that .

Spoiler
green.o g we were at that game, too. A Utah State running back fumbled at about the one yard line. The ball rolled to the back of the end zone where our corner back picked it up. I am yelling for him to get down and take a touchback giving us the ball at the twenty yard line. Instead, he takes off like a rocket, jumps a Utah State defender at about the five yard line and is GONE. I went from yelling "get down" to yelling "go, go, go" to yelling "touchdown" all in a period of just a few seconds. It was quite a play/

I won't be surprised to see our Marshall game changed to a Thursday night for TV. Marshall is one of the better teams in our league and the conference office likes to highlight them. Our stadium is a really good one for television. When you look at the two things together it just makes sense to make the change.

I always enjoyed playing Southwest Texas State (now Texas State - San Marcos) in our old Southland Conference years. The trip to San Marcos is not that bad. You can be there and back on the same day if you want to do that. Their stadium was okay and I believe it has been upgraded since then. If SMU shuts down our series with them I would have no problem with Texas State as a replacement

No home games on Halloween night or the Saturday after Thanksgiving are good things in my book.

Deep, I know this doesn't help you any but the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram had nice coverage today. It focused on the four kids from Tarrant County that signed with us.
On another note.....the paper also reported that Texas Weslyan was starting football up again. Its last football team was in 1941. I post this only because I figure RV will have them on our schedule by 2025.

I was told today by what I believe to be a reliable source that the UNT athletic department is going to have another one of those "garage sale" type events at this year's Spring Game where people can buy used (some very gently) items. This was a big hit when they did it a few years ago and should be pretty neat this time.

We have some good friends whose son went to Rice. He said it was really tough to get in there but once you were admitted there was LOTS of academic help to give you a good chance to get a degree.
Coaches! Come on man!
