I just turned the TV off. This is three touchdowns that we will never get back. This really stinks.

I talked to Jim a few weeks ago to offer him Club Level tickets to a game. At that time he was doing fine. He did not take me up on my offer of tickets but did not indicate any health problems.

The same situation was taking place in the Club level. There were several games on the TV sets there but ours was not one of them. We repeatedly asked about getting our game on those sets. The folks that we talked to were very courteous but were unable to get it changed. That was disappointing.

I saw a lot of improvement yesterday and my earlier comment still holds. I believe that we will be better in October than we are in September and that we will be better in November than we will be in October. Our inexperienced kids are good athletes who just need to play in some games to get a lot better. This is especially true at the quarterback position. We will sit here in November and wonder which bowl game we will be going to. Hang in there, folks.......hang in there.

Prior to the start of the game a large number of young ladies wearing white tee shirts sat together above the walkway on the student side. Any idea who they were ? I heard earlier that there was discussion about the UNT sororities not coming to the game and wondered if they decided to show up as a group.

The first one came on last Thursday of Fox Sports Southwest. They should follow each week in the same place.

If I were one of the parents of this young man I would be on my way to Austin to talk to him and the Longhorn medical staff about the long term results of too many concussions. Playing college football is great but not if it causes your mind to be foggy or turn to mush for the rest of your life. This can be some serious stuff, folks, that goes far beyond who plays Quarterback for the Longhorns vs BYU.

Guys, this team will be a lot better in October than in August/September and better in November than in October. As kids learn to react instead think about what they are supposed to do there will be a lot of improvement. The first game was awful, but that does not mean the whole season will be that way. We have a good head coach and two quality coordinators that took us to eight regular season wins and a win in a bowl game last year. They did not go to Stupid School this summer and forget how to coach. They will quickly figure out what our players can and cannot do. We will be fine before the end of the season. Hang in there and don't give up the faith. Go Mean Green.....

The guy in the Star-Telegram had it much closer. In his column yesterday he picked UT winning by a score of 24 to 21 and had some nice comments about our guys.

Are there any groups planning to get together in the Lewisville area ? The Fox and Hound location on I-35E has closed and we are looking for a spot where some North Texas fans might be gathering. Any information would be appreciated.

Gentlemen
Thanks for the kind words and good wishes. I was taken to dinner by my wife, daughter, and grandson. That was nice. Silver, at my age keeping it legal is a LOT easier than it used to be.

I am delighted that we have these games added to the TV package. Unfortunately I do not see any stations on the Sinclair network in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. The Sinclair network has stations in Amarillo, El Paso, Austin, San Antonio, Beaumont/Port Arthur, and the Rio Grande Valley. There is good news for North Texan 95 and Travis since there are Sinclair owned stations in your areas.

They showed a very short preview of this interview on the ten o'clock news on Saturday night. They were very complimentary of Coach Mac and the program. It should be fun to watch.

For those who get their cable TV through Charter, it is shown on channel 700. I plan to watch it with the sound down and listen to our radio broadcast to go with their video package.

Guys I know it was a LONG time ago but let's not forget the 1959 team. That was the Senior season for Abner Haynes and that group. They went 9-1 in the regular season before losing to New Mexico State in the Sun Bowl. Most folks remember the outstanding offense but the team gave up 7 points or less in eight of their ten regular season games. They finished ranked in the top twenty in the nation.

Hayden made a lot of changes. Most of them were for the better. There is no question that he became very frustrated with our inability to get into a better conference or to get to a bowl game. I'm sure those were some of the reasons for his departure to Iowa. Plus, Iowa was a much better job. To say that he left the program broke - without money or quality players - would certainly not be true.

Harry, I was told last summer that the new facility would take up a significant part of The Hill. I am not sure what adjustments will have to be made but I think they will be big ones.
-
They usually release the conference schedule near National Signing Day so late January or early February should be about right. The nonconference schedule has been released and I don't see any changes coming in it. I would love for it to set up like it did this year with four nonconference games, an open date, and the start of conference play. We will just have to wait a while longer to make sure.

I'm with Eastwood Eagle. At some time this summer I will need a Mean Green football fix so I will turn it on.......or maybe one of the other four I saved. Having choices is a good thing.

Our daughter was playing on the computer last night and found the Heart of Dallas Bowl game on You Tube. It is shown without the commercials but intact other than that. We watched it together and really enjoyed it. If you can't get enough of watching the game here is another option for you.

I became concerned about our tickets after I read some of the comments that had been posted earlier in the day. I called the ticket office and spoke to a fellow there. He apologized for the problem and is sending them to me overnight by Fed Ex. There will be no cost to me for that shipment. On a side note, I asked if I needed to be present to sign for the tickets when they were delivered. My wife's family is having their Christmas event tomorrow afternoon and I was hoping for a positive response so that I would have an excuse to skip that wonderful affair. Unfortunately, the answer was that I did not have to be present for the tickets to be left at our house. Oh, well.......it was worth a shot.

We have been season ticket holders since 1972 so coming up with one high was tough but I think the 2002 game against New Mexico State might have been it. It was two very evenly matched teams with a bowl game for the winner and nothing for the loser. Late in the game we intercepted a pass in the end zone to stop one of their drives. Fouts Field was electric that night. The invitation to the New Orleans Bowl after the game was also interesting but that is another story for another thread.

The Channel eight morning show had a reporter at Apogee Stadium this morning. The reporter interviewed Eric Capper about the removal of the ice from the turf at Apogee prior to the high school double header scheduled for there for this afternoon and this evening. It showed a fellow in the background getting ready to start the removal. A few minutes later the same reporter interviewed Coach Mac about how to prepare a team for very cold weather - like the high school kids will experience today and tonight at their games there. They also talked about the Heart of Dallas Bowl game for the Mean Green. It was some good positive publicity for our school and our football program.

I hope we will talk to Clint Bowen about the vacancy. I thought he did a good job as a coach and recruiter when he was here and seems to have the Kansas team playing hard once he took over there. If he is not offered the full time head coaching job at Kansas he will probably be available and is familiar with our situation and some of our players.
