  1. Should I feel insulted? I don't know who Lonnie Fitch is. I googled him too,,,, no luck
  2. You guys are both right. And you also right that it it doesn't matter. The only school in the state of Texas bigger than UNT is University of Texas. But let us widen the net and compare UNT to the "big dawg" schools in border states. Bigger than OU, (yes that is right the mighty Sooners). Bigger than the University of Arkansas and bigger than all the universities in LA not named LSU. So again my fellow UNT fan why are we looked as a "small pond" school? Not enough room in alumni hearts or wallets to support the Dallas Cowboys and the Mean Green? Well let us compare the Dallas Cowboys to the Mean Green. I contend that bowl games are equal to playoff games. Guess how many playoff games the Cowboys have won since 2000? That would be 2. Guess how many bowl games the Mean Green have won? That would be 2 also. And both programs have about the same number of appearances in bowl games vs playoff also.
  3. The University of North Texas is the 3rd largest university in the state of Texas. We are in one the largest metro areas in the USA. Denton is in the middle one of the richest high school recruiting areas in the country. Why don't we act like it? Why do I ever have to explain where I went to school when I within the state of Texas? Partially because the alumni don't act like it because we get humiliated on national TV almost every time we get the opportunity. Why can't I give my second season ticket away for most home games even if I offer to pick people up? Because they play like crap every time they get the opportunity to change the perception of this team when playing a power 5 conference school. We need an AD that dreams big. We need an AD and administration with balls enough to conduct business like this is the 4th largest university in the state of Texas on par with Texas A&M and University of Houston. And really only the University of Texas is significantly bigger than UNT. Texas A&M and Houston only have about 3,000 more students which means they are less than 10% bigger than UNT. if TCU cn be in the national championship level there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON the Mean Green should not dominate the west division of CUSA. No offense to those other west CUSA schools but go look them up on paper, remove the names and the biases from your mind and pick a better place to coach or recruit. So I am ready for this FBS program to make the next big step. How do we do that? And stop thinking about what we "cannot" do but what we should do based on the demographics and the advantages of our school. I am anxiously awaiting feedback
  4. Thank you for your post. We are a tired frustrated fanbase and it isn't just losing that get us mad it is getting our doors blown off. It is not have a FBS program worthy of all the advantages that UNT has. Texas A&M has 3,000 more students than UNT, University of Houston has 3,000 more, and the huge UT Longhorn has 12,000 more. So UT is the ONLY university in the state of Texas significantly bigger than UNT. Let me repeat that the University of Texas Longhorn is the ONLY university significantly bigger than UNT. So we can lose yes, every program does but being humiliated regularly like we are Texas State somewhere out in the rural sticks of Texas is 100% unacceptable. A UNT alum should be able to go anywhere in Oklahoma, Texas, LA, and New Mexico and people know where the school is located and that it is a first rate university. The football program just like academics is part of that. We should never look like a private FCS school with less than 10,000 students on campus and routinely that is what this team has looked like over the past 10 years.
  5. I don't think ordering Mac to get out the offense will work regardless of who the next AD is. Mac is stubborn and at this point in career he has nothing to lose. So I think he would force the new AD to fire him under those conditions or keep his hands in the offense. I am less concern about Benford because there are no colleges in the area with a tradition of basketball success so it is just a harder job here at UNT.
  6. I agree with you. But this program is always crying poverty and he does have 2 years left on his contract. So I don't even want to get my hopes up about him being gone. And I would bet my life they won't fire both of them with more that one year left on their respective contracts. So if I can only reasonably hope to get rid of one this year, it would be RV. Because we absolutely can't let RV select another head coach. I agree with you. But this program is always crying poverty and he does have 2 years left on his contract. 7. Yes, very true the person doing the hiring the of the coaches has to go. How much time does RV has on his contract? I give Mac the 2016 season to turn it around maybe, if RV is gone. I would like the new AD to have a year under their belt learning about the program before hiring their first football head coach. That is if you can go big time and get really good coach on the rebound at the end of 2015, like a Chip Kelly. Also I was so sick of hearing about our staff's connections with Iowa. If you are talking about our schools connections with another school no where near Texas it should be a program with recent national championship game appearances or near misses. Hearing about Hayden Frye doesn't dazzle recruits from the state of Texas, their parents or even grandparents (in some cases) .
  8. There is absolutely too much talent within a 90 mile radius of Denton to look like this. UNT is the ONLY public university in the DFW metroplex that plays FBS football. I am tired of excuses and I am tired of look like a FCS team. Everyone that has anything to do with the quarterback selection and development need to be fired at the end of this year. Why they refuse to play Connor Mean, I don't know but I believe they think he sucks also. And if that is the case this coaching staff has failed to select or develop a quarterback. They inherited their last stable quarterback from the last coaching staff.
  9. Want does Coach Mac's contract say specifically? If he has 3 season on this contract not including this season the AD definitely must go. Who was beating down Coach Mac's door with a better FBS job? They better because the play on the field isn't satisfying in any way I hope so but I doubt it. Coach Mac is very stubborn and with 2 years left on his contract he can afford to be. Coach Mac subscribes to a philosophy that not making mistakes always trumps play making ability. So if you can throw for 150 yard with a 40% completion rate with no turnovers you will start over the QB who could could throw for 375 yards 4 TD 2INT with 70% completion percentage. Now that might be an exaggeration but maybe not by much. Let DeMarcus Smith put up that stat line and lose the game... guess who is starting next week? He is a hint it won't be Smith.
  10. So now let me address the defense. is anyone else frustrated with the corners playing 7 to 10 yard back. They basically give away 5 yard quick out passes to any QB with a little accuracy and velocity? I haven't watch much CUSA Football this year but if they run the spread option system effectively more long drives against this defense to come. Where do you see a win on this schedule beside Portland State?
  11. I don't wan to bash on McNulty far from it. But let look at the facts. This guy is a senior and has had the same OC and Head Coach his entire time at UNT and he still doesn't have 1:1 TD to INT ratio. His completion percentage is about 50%. if the team is not talented enough around him to win as others have suggested then why are you wasting the eligibility of other better QB prospects even though they might not be a better option right now? At this point I would be less surprised by a 0-12 season than a 5-7 one. Playing seniors on a losing team makes no sense to me unless the protests behind them have less raw talent. I don't even care about beat Portland State or anyone else at this point. I want a team that looks competitive against other CUSA teams. I don't see that happening this year. And if you don't even look completive again: Why are you playing a senior with less raw talent than the younger player with more eligibllity left?
  12. I don't even know why Greer is anything but last place on the depth chart. When he played he demonstrated almost no ability to make good decision in a timely manner. I remember watch a game last year when my 9 year old spotted an open play that Greer was looking at a paused, tapped the ball twice then overthrew.
  13. McNulty may be a great young man, hard worker and have loads of other qualities that will make him a success in life. I would be disappointed if he did not go on to do great things as a UNT alumni. However it as senior starting QB at a FBS school he is not accurate or athletic enough to lead a team that wants to compete for a conference title. If UNT had a big talent advantage over most opponents they face then he would be adequate. But that isn't the case and has never been the case a North Texas. So yes he isn't the main reason they lost but he is definitely in the top 10 reasons. But I am not worried about McNulty, I am worried about this coaching staff inability to scout or develop good quarterbacks. So many people were excited about Dajon Smith now gone from the program. A lot of people were excited about highly touted QB talent that transferred into UNT only to be ran off without ever seeing significant playing time. So you have 2 choices either these guys weren't worth the hype and the scouts did a very poor job or the coaches failed to mold these talents in to FBS starting quarterbacks. Either choice is bad. With that pattern of lack of quarterback development I am not optimistic about seeing D. Smith playing either.
  14. The staff failure to recruit, develop, or give opportunities to QB talent has to noticed now. We have a senior starting QB that throws 3 Int for every 2 TD he throws yet they tell us he is the best option we have. If that is the case they that QB should be a very temporary option else there should not be any quarterbacks on scholarship for the team. It doesn't make me mad when we loose only when we look like garbage on the road in on the very few opportunities we get to showcase our school. I think true UNT fans are pragmatic for the most part but we have a limit. Looking noncompetitive against a SMU team that will be lucky to finish 5W & 7L this year is flirting with it. I should left the game at halftime. And to top it all off my support of the team was rewarded with my car being broken into at the Dart rail station. I am sure McNulty is a great person and I am proud that he is an alumni. But being a good dude, great alumni, and hard worker doesn't qualify you to be a starting QB at a FBS school, else I would have went out for the team to play quarterback when I was there. There is too much local talent sitting on the benches of Baylor, UT, Texas, A&M, TCU, Oklahoma, and OSU for our team to look like that. UNT fans should never feel like we have no chance to win a game before halftime unless we are playing top end power 5 conference schools.
  15. I whole heartily agree. I am standing up clapping figuratively. It's main reason their constant helmet changes always confused me. I think the old school eagle with the NT in the middle could have been iconic by now if they stuck with it. And stop changing the shade of green we use. Crimson Tide has never messed with the shade of red they use.

Great collection, the flying worm and the eagle with the NT in the middle have always been my favorites.

Now that a great retro helmet, they should bring that one back. The one they have is great so I am content they just continue to use it long enough to make it iconic.

Is that an actual helmet UNT wore? I have seen a lot of different helmets but never one like that.
  19. George Dunham is a UNT Alumni and he just stop calling games this year.
