  1. I have never been part of a bye-week conspiracy before.

    I don't know the answers.

But publicly questioning the mods will get things deleted at times. If you have a question, send Harry a PM, unless you know which mod enforced something. Then you can PM them or Harry.

Before you PM me, I don't know the answers to questions raised in this thread. it seems like nice scandalous bye week material though.

A big difference I see is that Colorado and TxSt were terrible teams last season.  It was very apparent that they needed a roster overhaul.  That wasn’t the case at UNT.

I did a study last year at one point our average raking of the teams we beat was something like 157, I am not sure we were anything but better than the bottom dwellers we beat.  Portal out some of the playmakers and we are really bad.

    Notes:

    Coach Morris

    * I like his accountability.  Morris doesn't play the blame game.

    * Will continue to work to establish the running game.  QB running game was much better.  Missed some reads, both QB & RB, that will be addressed.

    * We will not look back at last year.  Last year is over and done.

    * If you know how to improve tackling other than practicing tackling, please email Coach.

    * Coaches have to find out if the players are unable to do what we want them to do, then we (coaches) have to figure that out.

    *  Defensive issues are a combination of issues between scheme and execution.

    * Vito asked if we have the talent to run the 3-3-5.  Morris thinks we are probably a little smaller than he would like.  DL depth is hurting us some.  Marcus Moore has done some nice things at DT.

    * The coaching staff will continue to look for ways to make plays on defense understanding that we haven't recruited to this system yet.

    * Earle was pulled due to cramping.  Rogers came in with little to no notice and played really well.  Exhibited a calmness that comes from his previous experience.

    * Does not like going back and forth at QB.  Wants to find one and let them develop a rhythm.

    * Praised Rogers for his preparedness.

    * LA Tech is playing better defense.  We are 1-4 against them in our last five games.  Praised their defense and their RB #21.

    * High praise for Wesloski.  Still making some freshman mistakes, but has a chance to be really good and excited for is future.

    * Earle's footwork is a little quick at times, but he is slowing down as he gets more comfortable.

    Damon Ward:

    * Guys are getting back to work.  The loss doesn't define us.

    *  This offense is explosive.  Need to build positive momentum.

    *  LA Tech is a good team, but we worry more about us and not about the opponent.

    * Need to execute our game plan and cut down on the mistakes.

    Ridge Texada:

    * Need to execute and read our keys.

    * Little things that we are doing wrong are leading to big plays.

    * We have the players to run this scheme.

    * Need to force turnovers.

    * Dad played at LA Tech but wants us to win.

    * Ridge...separated at birth from Prince Rogers Nelson?

FIU lost more to the portal than we did. They are arguably worse than last year.

The blaming of Baker in this thread is comical. The fact is our coaching staff has been a massive failure so far and deserves all the blame. Wren didn’t force Morris to start Earle or go with a defensive scheme that everyone questioned from the start. Our staff had time to retool through the portal. They just chose not to. It was a total misevaluation of how our current roster would fit their schemes.

Really? If Wren had made a proper decision, we would have had time for a proper search. Instead, he found a way out and left us holding the bag. So, instead of doing a proper search for a coach, we were behind the ball and had to figure out a new AD also. Amazingly bad timing.

You made my point? This is on morris and wren. Texas state got like 50 transfers. really we lost 3 starters to the portal from defense. we didn't get depleted by the portal. We were weak on defense and did NOTHING to fix it is the problem.

There is a bit more to that story, like having NIL funding and more. I think we handicapped ourselves in many ways. I wanted us to fire/hire much earlier in the season if not the year before. And to keep seth we would have had to extend his contract, which was a big NO.  I am not ready after two games to hang a brand new coach. And to what end?

My point was we were far from a powerhouse last year.

my point is this is apples and oranges. your talking about college football 50 years ago. Might as well be a different sport. and Fry also fry took over one of the worst football programs in the nation Record: 1-10 (125th of 127).  Morris didn't do that. There's really no excuse .

Really, that is so not true. Did you see how bad the portal hammered us? FIU looked big next to us. Who recruited most of our current players?

I would say that an earlier hire last year would have made an enormous difference. We had an easy schedule last year and SMU could have easily hung another 14 points on us. We didn't play last year's FIU last night I have no idea what has changed and developed there but I know we lost many of our best players to the portal and graduation.

Whether you like it or not, we beat a top, what, 15 team, in Denton and we made more noise beating a hapless Arkansas than we have in forever.

OMG, do you really believe UTSA was really a top-15 team? So silly, so overrated proved in their bowl game that year.

No way we lose tonight under Seth Littrell.  Remember, less than 1 year ago: 52-14.  Not saying I want him back though.

I don't know the answer to that, they seemed much bigger.

But the late fire of Seth and hire of a new head coach and Wren's departure let us get hammered in the portal. I think you could argue that if Wren had worried about us he would have fired Seth after the UNLV game last year and we could have secured our players better from the portal and maybe even used the portal better.

I disagree. The wheels fell off after Harrell left but we were better every season after that 2019 disaster with Bodie Reeder. We were one play away from beating UTSA in their house last season and beat them like a drum the year before. Just imagine the beatdown they are going to throw us this November 4.

Yup what was that big important win game Seth won. I must of missed it. But he did let SMU come in here last year and trounce us. Did he ever beat them at home?

Meh. Littrell had this ding dong program in a championship game last year. We just let FIU hang 500 yards on us. Sometimes people forget who the hell we are. Seth was a good coach. Morris ain’t. Grass isn’t always greener.

Seth had the easiest schedule I can remember last year and I believe most of these players are his recruits.

Some of you were so certain that Seth Littrell was holding us back that just about anyone could improve over him. Well, we are now worse. I hope things improve but right now it looks like we are headed from conference runnerup to cellar dwellar again. Hope it was fun.

Clearly, we were not getting better under Seth, and that would only lead to worse results in this conference. He lacked the personality and the recruiting skills to be a head coach. Probably a great OC.

Timing with Wren was more of the issue for. me
