You must’ve given Todd Dodge a free pass since he only made $185k.

You also must’ve been excited about our conference performance this season since Eric Morris only lost to the 4 public universities that we know pay more than us. He beat UAB who pays the same and went 2-1 against the privates where we have no idea what they pay. Forget about firing Caponi, just give Morris a raise so we can increase that win total expectation.

You shouldn't assume you know what excites me! 😜

I am excited about Eric Morris, though. I may change my mind next season. I am waiting to see what Caponi does in the offseason before I rally the lynch mob.

Playing in a much tougher conference with a much stronger schedule with a first-year coach? Going 5-7 and being competitive in all but one game. Not the worst year and not what I hoped for. I have seen improvement.

  2. And you seem to forget he was the highest-paid coach in Conference USA and never won a bowl or Conference Championship. He half-assed his recruiting. He was for shit on promoting the games and the school. He was paid really well for his time here. He seemed very comfortable being middle of the pack. More worried about his golf game.

AND what really killed me is he dropped almost every big game that mattered.

As much as I hate UTSA, that job isn't a hole and they did very well the first year in the AAC. No reason to let off that momentum unless you don't think you can replace Frank Harris (though I would argue their success isn't tied to Harris). I guess this would be a convenient exit point for Traylor with Harris leaving though. I don't see it.

I think everything about UTSA is a hole. I think Frank Harris makes that team, but either way, a P5 conference is still a P5 conference.

According to this post in another thread the same as year 1.  So those hoping we go heavy in the portal will be disappointed, assuming that is true.

I don't read it that way, I could be wrong.  I see it as they will do what they need to fill the holes and build a stronger team.

Is it the DC's fault or are the players just not that good?  Its not like expectations were high for this squad going into the season, they didn't make a splash in the transfer portal, and they lost some key players from last season.  Did anyone not expect this defense to rank near the bottom of the AAC?  I'm not sure a different DC would have had any more success.

I wonder if Caponi wanted to hit the portal more and Eric had him hold off?

Well, anyone change after the performance yesterday? Defense kept us in the game until Offense woke up. I know I know, against a bad team but we finally slowed the run a little.   My question from last game is how do we keep leaving our smallest corner in 1 on 1 situations with the other teams tallest WR we have 3 safeties surely to the big man upstairs we can find a way to borrow a safety and give him some help.

I am starting to climb up on the fence, if the defense does well this Saturday I will be sitting squarely on the fence waiting to see what is done in the off-season.

We should probably do a new poll with an in-the-middle choice.

North Texas is not a DI football program.

It's so silly to compare Boone to Denton.

  8. Thank you, Rick. Very nice of you to say!

We appreciate everyone who stops by and enjoys the tailgate. We like to share.

Tailgating has kept me coming through the bad, rough years. We have been tailgating now for 22 years. Seems crazy.

Victor, Amanda, Lauren, Mike, Bill, and John, who spend hours prepping food earlier in the week and maintaining equipment for the setup and spread, really do a great job. I enjoy all the regulars who help us set up, teardown, and add to the gathering. Good discussions with everyone; I have my Mean Green Family.

For those who have not been, we welcome you, I have my Sausage Stuffing balls for almost every game.

See everyone next year, I am usually out of town the weekend after Thanksgiving.
