  1. I didn't direct my comment at you. It was for anyone who was unsure or thought it might have been NDSU who offered him. 90 mentioned Fargo and appeared to be confused about which North Dakota school offered Xavier, but I did not direct my comment at him either. Just wanted to clear up any confusion or potential confusion.
  2. Okay, so that's who that guy was on the sidelines. You can see him over by the sideline d-line huddles in Beyond The Green. And in the locker room.
  3. Emmitt and Greg are both spot on. There's nothing scary about their roster except maybe Jonathan Gray. Brown and Bergeron are good bruisers as well. I also feel like Jonathan Gray may be breaking down. He played 64 games and had over 1200 carries in high school. Aledo may have out too much tread on those tires.
  4. Losing him and Jeffcoat will help immensely. Still holding out hope that Quandre Diggs declares.
  5. I agree. Anyone who saw it thought it was impressive. Because it was. We definitely got a steal whether he is the starter next year or not. Definitely a D1 qb.
  6. Not trying to take anything away from DW or Idaho, but a lot of their own fans want them to go down to FCS.
  7. The thinking behind Berglund having a shot is because he was not out-quarterbacked as much as he was out-footballed. It wasn't like the other guys were making throws that he could not, or that he was overwhelmed by the speed of a D1 defense. He was just trying to run way too much and trying to play catch-up after getting a late start because of injury. If he plays within the offense and runs the plays that are called then he has a great chance. But DW is the favorite
  8. I agree. Just wanted people to see his film before saying "he should have a shot because he was offered by Oregon State," without knowing what he actually plays like.
  9. Lol on calling the kid salty, as he is. But yes, that was a good Katy line he dominated, at least for the high school level. I hope X is a game changer. I also hope he helps set the edge on the run game if we get him. We have some solid pass-rushing ends coming back (Mason, Polk, Q Brown) but we could really use Washington coming in 240+ and helping against the run. Yes, they report in July.
  10. Posted this in the starting qb poll thread. Here are Ashton's high school highlights. Looks like his school ran the veer (triple-option) offense. Not a bad passer. Compact release, decent arm strength. I wouldn't expect him to be thrown in the mix but maybe. http://www.picturethisnow.net/peterashton/website/Highlights.html

  12. Washington is at the top of my wish list and he would headline the class for me along with Tee Goree and Fonzale Davis, but I watched him play one game live and he got worked all game against Allen by their junior, now rising senior, left tackle Bobby Evans who is a 4-star and already committed to Oklahoma. The questions about his height are not completely bogus. That being said, I really hope we get him and I think he would be in the rotation from day 1 here. He could become a starter by conference play with some seasoning. I'd just personally hold off on calling him a defense changer until I see him go against 6'5"+ college tackles consistently.
  13. No, it wasn't me who posted that but a couple guys on here both said they both talked to different players and heard nearly the same thing. That's why I think it could be Brock. The problem is not that the game is too fast for him, or he's inaccurate, or off the field stuff. It seems like he just is trying to be on sportscenter too hard and if he can just make the reads, sit in the pocket, and command the offense he should win the job.
  14. Yes, mop up duty against the second string of a beaten and demoralized team that would only go on to win 1 game on the season. But he certainly did show flashes and got plenty of praise in practice.
  15. Probably because they were good last year when they had a good qb and one of the best receivers in the country.
  16. I would say he's one of those guys who slipped through the cracks, but the knocks on him are that he's skinny which is a dangerous proposition with a running qb, and if you look at his high school stats he didn't reach the 60% completion percentage mark in high school. As just a general rule most evaluators and coaches want to see the qb hit 60% completion percentage or higher before they advance to the next level (i.e. high school to college, college to NFL). However, even though it was in mop up duty, Dajon looked pretty darn accurate against Idaho going 5-6 with the lone incompletion being a drop.
  17. I pray that Swoopes wins the job. Boy could not hit the broadside of Mangino's fanny.
  18. I think that helped a lot with DT at times. Kept it simple and the o-line gave him plenty of time. He just had trouble throwing downfield. I want to see what this offense can do with a guy who can hit some downfield passes in addition to the shorter stuff and run the ball a little.
  19. I really like DW's game, but it's hard to tell accuracy from high school tape. All the passes are complete in a highlight tape.
  20. Same could've been said about Berglund last year or Osborn a few years ago.
  21. Greer is basically DT 2.0. Playing against him in high school his problem was accuracy. His completion percentage was under 50% against the playoff teams and just over 50 overall. He looked a lot improved in his JUCO tape and stats. He does have the big arm and the height. Looks like Mac's style of qb.
  22. If Dajon wins the job he will shatter every career passing record we have. Also, Williams to Goree will sound like a broken record. A beautifully broken record.
  23. If I had to put money on it I'd probably say Dajon, but something tells me Brock puts it together. He hasn't gotten a bad attitude for not starting and he has the talent. I hope it's Brock or Dajon so we could throw downfield more and mix in the qb run.
  24. I agree. I think our defense will be good enough. The key is our passing game. I like the short routes we run, and if our new qb can hit those like DT did against UNLV and other games like K-State last year then we can put up points. I just believe in the system we have in place and the competition we have at all positions.
