  1. Student Season Passes at ATM is $225. Bench seats $425 plus required donations. $24 a seat is a steal for D-1 College football game tickets.
  2. Practice helmets have black facemask and chin straps. Have been since two-a days last fall. They used Dodge era white helmets last spring.
  3. Agree with the entire statement. It is time issue.
  4. Yes but they are not using collegiate implements. High schoolers use 12 lbs shot and 1.6 kilo discus. Collegiates use 16 lb shot and 2.0 kilo discus which makes for a very big difference. I looked up what UNT throwers are presently doing. Discus is 166 feet and 147 feet. Neither placed in the points at SBC championship. The best throw in shot was 51 feet good enough for 7th. Stickler threw the disc 198 feet in high school (10th best in Nation) and only 182 feet at UNT.(UNT record) Again, I am not knocking the kids on their efforts and success. I am pointing out that there is a huge time issue involved in splitting football and track. I would rather see them focus their efforts on developing into productive football players than take away valuable time and energy from that development by doing both.
  5. It is good that they are performing well this spring in track but those distances do not translate well to college throws. They need to be in the 65-70 range in shot and consistantly near 200 feet for discus. There are also quiet a few accmplished/state caliber throwers already on the football team. None of them do track. Last one that did was Brock Stickler from Lampasas who threw discus.
  6. That pillar is presently 55th out of 75 in off-season performance. I would prefer to see a piller/leader of the team in the Top 10 or even No.1. Boutwell, Y'Barbo' Fortenberry, Ellard and Feeley. There are four of your starting Olinemen. There are your pillers.
  7. Now that Off-Season is over and Spring Football is about to begin we can start talking about actual on the field stuff. There is already a good discussion going about Feldt and where he fits into the Oline structure. We have not had an inside look at the offseason program before so we don't have anything to compare to. I will say there are quiet a few of the returning starters from last years team that are in the TOP 20 performers for this off-season.(Going off the performance scores on Facebook page) There is also a good number of backups performing at a high level as well. This tells me that the returning starters are not resting on their past and know that you can always improve yourself. The backups are not all accepting that they are backups and also pushing for playing time. Work ethics catches a coaches eye and they would be more likely to give a player an extra look during reps because of it, thus turning into playing time. There will be several spots open during Spring because of injuries. Both Powers and Prior are out with shoulder surgeries. Lemon is out with a leg.(knee?) This will give others a chance to prove themselves. Miller is one that will have the oppertunity with Powers and Priors spots. Will Feldt be given the chance with Lemon out? I think the fight for No.2 QB spot is wide open. Will Byrd take the oppertunity that is in front of him? RB position is his to lose. WR. Will the redshirts step forward and will Delgado continue his improvement? Defensive backfield. The biggest question mark on the team. Loaded with SRs last year, proved to be the weak link of the team. How will the young guys do? My take. The Oline reloaded with young guy last year and became the bedrock of the team. I think the defensive backfield will be the most improved part of this years team. DLine: Starters = ABBE, Boutwell, McCoy and Obi... the only spot I see where there is question is depth at DT. Linebackers:In good shape, now they need to stay healthy. Special Teams: Need a new snapper. Who will step forward? We now have to wait for April 21.
  8. What makes anyone think that Feldt will see the field? He hasn't played a down in two years and really didn't have a sterling off-season. That is why Mac said he is moved to guard. He is down in the depth chart, not replacing Y'Barbo or Lemon. The line up will be exactly as it was last year with Feeley filling in at tackle. That is if Lemon heals from his surgery.
