If the AAC ever goes back to divisions, or moves to having 3 permanent rivalry games... I'd like to see our SMU game be played as our first conference game of the season. The Rice game played on Halloween every season. And, the UTSA game always be on Thanksgiving weekend. I just like the idea of having set dates that I can schedule around.
Our fans are a way too fickle and apathetic to waste thanksgiving weekend on a rivalry game. I definitely think the game should be some time in november though

This 100%. Literally a participation banner.

Grant has a 5 year track record of doing great things, the flu has apparently decimated the team (get your shots people) .... St Marys is good, would've been nice to get a Q1 but it didnt happen

I'd rather our championship hopes not come down to a do or die game at Rice. I think Seth knows this is a last stand and hope the effort shows

This has been proven to be a very good program when they have the right coaches. They sit in a hotbed of talent.
One thing that works against them is they play at Raymond James… which is well off campus.
Ucf passed em in short order thanks to winning and commitments to growing facilities

I do find it very interesting that Leavitt has never been a head coach again. Seems really weird, like stuff you don’t wanna know about is holding him back.
On January 8, 2010, Leavitt was fired after an investigation by USF officials found that he had struck a player in the locker room during halftime of a game against Louisville the previous November 21. Leavitt claimed he was merely trying to console the player and never struck him. School officials found that Leavitt was not truthful about what happened, and also found that he had interfered with the investigation.[7] ESPN's Ivan Maisel reported that Leavitt's interference, which included telling several players and coaches to change their stories, was the biggest factor in the decision to fire him.[8] The Tampa Tribune reported that school president Judy Genshaft and athletic director Doug Woolard felt they had no choice but to fire Leavitt after he refused to admit he had done anything wrong.[9] Running backs coach Carl Franks was named interim coach of the Bulls[10] until January 14, 2010, when Skip Holtz was hired as head coach.[11]

That is well said. I root for this team every week. I root for the players. Hell, I even root for Aune every time I see him chunk a ball in the air. I hope his NFL dream happens and he retires in 5 years at the ripe old age of 60-something.
But I have the unwavering belief it could have been and should be better. Seth did the job, I just want to see what the next guy can do with these resources.
It's the same in the corporate world. There are floor raisers, and ceiling raisers, and. those who specialize in stabilizing unstable (there's a corporate word or term here and I am missing it) situations
Seth just passed DD in wins, but let's be honest... a 43-42 record doesn't move the needle when it comes to Texas, and the greater south football.

Last week sure was also pretty nice. but you look at the overall season and you notice that the schedule was pillow soft. 3 OOC losses against teams that are a combined 10-14 against opponents not named NT, and 2 of them might easily miss a bowl; 2 losses were blowouts to teams that really don't look all that great in hindsight. The best win? Probably a 6-4 WKU team I have my questions about. After that? 4-5 FAU?
Like last year, the team is clearly getting better in the second half than it was in the first half and I enjoyed the last two weeks quite a bit. That does not excuse all the suckitude of the first half (yet again). And if they make it to the conference championship and win it, well that is a title and NT shouldn't fire someone who wins hardware. Winning in SA sure would change the narrative a bit. He would have to be extended for recruiting reasons if nothing else. The extension should not be 3 additional years, and should have more favorable buyout clauses than the last one. Maybe SL HAS figured something out, finally. But until we see it repeatedly against good teams I don't see that it requires getting fleeced in contract negotiations again.
Still, if NT wins the conference, I do wonder if SL wouldn't be going elsewhere by himself.
You’ve gotta win early at unt. Otherwise people lose interest

Two questions:
- What happened to the insider conspiracy that Seth is gone no matter what that was posted on a here a few days ago? People are posting like an extension is a foregone conclusion.
- Why is it mutually exclusive for a poster to support the current team and desiring a new coach at the same time? Hint, it’s not.
I really hate the gaslighting that goes on over wanting Littrell gone after 7 seasons and him averaging 0.500 with no hardware in the case. All while we’re taking a step up in conferences next season. He’s underperformed based on his pay and tools. Thanks him for lifting us out of the dark ages but we’re not quite in the Age of Enlightenment yet.
Appreciate this post. He’s the second highest paid conference (formerly the highest by a wide margin). I expect him to perform like that.
what’s his CUSA record? What’s his record in bowl games? He’s currently 1-4 against future aac teams (win against fau and I count unlv as a higher conference team as well)
we can appreciate what he did this year but also understand this is the standard for what we’re paying him

Y’all want to get rid of everybody today. Seth..Brett Vito… now scrappy. What’s wrong with you people lol
We want anarchy. Storm Apogee. Pillage the field and bring the remnants back where Fouts stood so students don’t have to walk the extra 5 minutes across I-35.
we want to bring back the past. Dig up Odus Mitchell’s grave! Have his corpse upright on the sideline! Then and only then we will have a winning coach, the ultimate standard bearer gracing us with his illuminating presence! Better yet, abolish the forward pass at UnT for we are running back university!ok back to reality tv now

I know Scrappy has been our mascot for many years. But to me, it seems that their (playing into modern gender roles here) disinterest and general apathy when it comes to firing up the crowd really make a difference on how students and five year olds going to their first games feel about UNT The players treat them as a barrier to get around during warmups...and the dancing often portrays someone that has a less than healthy relationship with the product on the field. The coaches caravans (when they feel like coming) and other community events have a different feel, but they just seem off when it comes to their full support of UNT.
Is it time for a new mascot for UNT?
I'm sure that Scrappy is a nice eagle and I wish them no harm, especially since Eagles are considered endangered species (both the animal and the fickle UNT football fan). But it seems to me that some positive energy and more hip thrusting during games couldn't hurt!

Using a single example out of a much larger body of work is not a logical way to rationalize something.
Here's Seth's non-conference history at UNT excluding FCS teams:
Year Date Opponent Result 2016 September 3 SMU* L 21–34 2016 September 17 at No. 23 Florida* L 0–32 2016 October 22 at Army* W 35–18 2016 December 27 vs. Army* L 31–38 OT 2017 September 9 at SMU* L 32–54 2017 September 16 at Iowa* L 14–31 2017 November 18 Army* W 52–49 2017 December 16 vs. Troy* L 30–50 2018 September 1 SMU* W 46–23 2018 September 15 at Arkansas* W 44–17 2018 September 22 at Liberty* W 47–7 2018 December 15 vs. Utah State* L 13–52 2019 September 7 at SMU* L 27–49 2019 September 14 at California* L 17–23 2019 September 28 Houston* L 25–46 2020 September 19 SMU* L 35–65 2020 December 21 vs. Appalachian State* L 28–56 2021 September 11 at SMU* L 12–35 2021 October 9 at Missouri* L 35–48 2021 October 23 Liberty* L 26–35 2021 December 23 vs. Miami (OH)* L 14–27 2022 September 3 SMU* L 10–48 2022 September 17 at UNLV* L 27–58 2022 September 24 at Memphis* L 34–44 To save you from counting, that's a 5-18 record—a winning percentage of 21.74%. Not good.
And before you say, "Oh, well there are some good teams in there like Florida! We can't reasonably expect to beat Florida!" Okay, I can agree with you on that. But 2016 Florida is really the only team. Everyone else was beatable.
And before you say, "Oh, well some of those teams aren't in the AAC so it's not apples to apples." Okay, let's look at just the teams from the AAC during the seven seasons:
Year Date Opponent Result 2016 September 3 SMU* L 21–34 2017 September 9 at SMU* L 32–54 2018 September 1 SMU* W 46–23 2019 September 7 at SMU* L 27–49 2019 September 28 Houston* L 25–46 2020 September 19 SMU* L 35–65 2021 September 11 at SMU* L 12–35 2022 September 3 SMU* L 10–48 2022 September 24 at Memphis* L 34–44 That's a 1-8 record against AAC teams during his tenure—a winning percentage of just 11.11%.
I appreciate Seth for the positive things he has done at UNT, but he's not the guy who will lead us to AAC championships and playoff bids.
I'm frustrated about the losses but I'm more frustrated is that in many of them, especially in recent years, we haven't been competitive.
