Community oriented, she had a great following in Ruston, retains players well, especially considering Ruston is not overly exciting. She also is good at hitting the transfer portal.
Think she will do extremely well, she is 180 degree change in demeanor from Lama, fairly soft spoken.
Kinda like that she played other sports and was in something else before coaching too- someone who gets the 360 degree picture of the collegiate experience which could help with development

Jeff Hammond at Liberty would be #1, but he has everything there right now for a mid-major
Ryan Haymond - Associate HC at Memphis, but they are finishing off a new 24 ct Outdoor and 12 ct Indoor Facility, plus he has been there for almost 10 yrs
Courtney Steinbock former UA HC, but she may still need a few years out of sight before any AD takes her back
Lauren Longbotham-Meisner former Auburn HC, she did well at Auburn in a tough SEC and also did very well at SMU. She has been out of coaching for a few years now, so not sure she would have interest, although family is from Texas
Amanda Stone HC La Tech; just won ITA Southern Region Coach of the Year, she has also done a tremendous job getting community backing in Ruston, doubtful she would leave small town for DFW Area, also did extremely well at Northeastern St prior to La Tech.
Random and not at all relevant, Meisners ex used to be SID at conference USA

Yeah. Seems a lot like the Seth position. Overall, Brad’s a great guy. Very successful early on, then the wheels fell of & he couldn’t quite get them back on.
Jared is definitely getting a chance to build/cement a legacy at UNT. He's having to make 4 coaching hires in the first 6 months of his AD tenure.

it has nothing to do with my feelings...just that most (well...apparently most) have adapted their language in the last 20 years to recognize that some terms commonly held as acceptable, in jest or otherwise, 20 years ago are no longer so.
Huggins, on air, used a slur...twice...and in such a way where it sounded very casual and probably a part of his everyday vernacular. I'm not calling for his firing, but if he is fired he only has himself to blame.Seemed like WVU had been trending downward in basketball as is..... this honestly gives Wren cover to fire him if he wants to reset

Just how green is the grass at WVU now. So, is the grass always greener. Just asking.
He didnt make the move because "the grass was greener". He made it to move up in his career. Bigger schools = bigger headaches.

Obituary for Ricky Lee Herold
Ricky Lee Herold, 67, civic leader and community friend, passed away on April 8, 2023 at his home in Grand Prairie, 3 days following his sixty-seventh birthday.
Visitation will occur from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Grand Prairie, 950 Mayfield Road, Grand Prairie TX 75052 where a Memorial Service will follow at 2. A private internment will occur at Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens.
Rick was born on April 5, 1956, in Farmers Branch, the only child of the late Forrest Newell Herold and the late Doris Mae Trok Herold. He attended R.L. Turner High School, then the University of North Texas, where he earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Recreation Management.
Rick was a prankster with a big voice and a bigger heart. For years, he traveled the nation following John Cougar Mellencamp concerts and was always up for an adventure, often going off-road to get to where he was going, both literally and figuratively. He was a fan of cruises and got to a beach as often as possible. And, Rick loved sports, especially UNT's Mean Green basketball and football, attending games regularly and tailgating frequently.
Rick was an Adjunct Professor in UNT's Recreation and Leisure Studies Department. He served on the Board of Directors for the North Texas Alumni Association for five years and was a member of the President's Council. He provided the commencement address in 2006 and 2017. He was named a Distinguished Alumnus by the Recreation and Leisure Studies Division. Rick was awarded the UNT Spirit Award by the President of the University of North Texas in 2002.
Rick was a park and recreation director for 38 years, including a 16-year stint in Euless and 16 ½ years in Grand Prairie, from which he retired in 2018. He started his career in The Colony with Colony City Manager Tom Hart using the private pools, yards and garages of residents for swim classes and parks programs.
As the Parks Director in Euless, he oversaw millions of dollars in parks and recreation projects, with signature projects being Texas Star Golf Course, Texas Star Conference Center, The Parks at Texas Star, and The Stars Center at Texas Star.
While Director of Parks, Arts and Recreation in Grand Prairie, Rick was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Parks and Recreation Administration (AAPRA). He won two NRPA Gold Medal Awards in 2008 and 2017 and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Texas Recreation and Parks Society in 2019. During his time in Grand Prairie, projects included:
● The Epic ---Recognized as one of America's most innovative recreation centers
● EpicWaters Indoor Waterpark, that just keeps pulling in Best Of awards
● Prairie Lights, a Holiday Drive-Thru Christmas Light Show, #5 Best Holiday Happening, USA Today
● The Summit, the award-winning "America's first baby-boomer facility"
● Renovation of Tangle Ridge and Prairie Lakes Golf Courses
● Ruthe Jackson Conference Center and Wedding Venue
● Loyd Park Campgrounds and Lodge
● PlayGrand Adventures, America's largest all-ability playground
● Renovation of the historic Uptown Theater
● Farmers Market
● Shotwell Life Center
A noted speaker, Rick presented seven times at the NRPA National Congress, and more than 50 times to state and local organizations. In addition, he was the emcee for the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS) Annual Convention fourteen times. He served two terms as President of the DFW Parks and Recreation Directors Association. Rick was a member of the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS), the American Academy of Parks and Recreation Administration (AAPRA), and the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA).
A graduate of the Disney Training Institute (2018) and a marketing master, Rick started "Brand-Aid" the first marketing institute ever developed for the parks and recreation industry. It enjoyed five sell-out seasons and the final two years as part of the National Recreation and Parks Association National Congress.

Burton is wearing green. It's fine
Just win games and represent the university in a positive matter. I don't care.

Before all the right wingers come and lose their shit over this, UNT has always had solid multicultural center programming: https://idea.unt.edu/multicultural-center
It's nice that they'll move this out of the Union and into their own building.

Man, sure would be nice to have some other sports to help ride the momentum of our men's basketball team. I know its a ways away, but I feel like UNT sports excitement dips quickly, especially as the softball team isnt doing so hot

If people are poaching our players and coaches it means we're doing something right.
It feels a lot better when I hear the national media go "he built a winner at North Texas" versus what I've heard far too often after the Dickey (don't tell me about those 4 NO Bowls, he was 42-64), Dodge, McCarney and Littrell (yes he was .500 but his teams got boring to watch) years.

Let's be honest, GMac wore some solid kicks during his time as HC.
Since he's wearing red now, how can we get ahold of his sweet green kicks? 🤣

We'll probably never find out what went into the decision-making process, but it should would be interesting to find out. There's the money obviously and we've heard about the connection to Tech. After all that, it's about winning championships and legacy, I guess. Did he feel he's accomplished all he can at UNT...that the likely-hood of winning an NCAA national championship at Tech is far greater than at UNT? Was he disappointed in or beaten down by the lack of community and student support? Or maybe the timing was just right. He feels he's leaving the program in good hands and wanted to start his own coaching tree. BTW, how many branches do you need before you have your own tree in the coaching world?
All three of these can be true.
Tech was in the natty 5 years ago and almost won.
Red Raiders draw well because well what else do you do in Lubbock , and yes, we still struggle with attendance
He's been interviewing for some time - it was always a matter of when. A championship is not a bad way to go out. I'd rather he go out this way than going out losing 25 games.
I'm more pissed at the size of the buyout. That's barely Stormy Daniels money.

Looks like he knows what he is doing. Not sure what happened last year, but it looks like he had great results for the past 5-6 years apart from that
They were transitioning to D-1 (look at non con schedule) and he lost his best player halfway through

All three definitely seem that way. Burton might be the smoothest operator of the three (not a bad thing)
