  1. If UT wins out, they will play in the BCS championship game if tOSU is 12-0, and there are no other undefeated teams.

Keep an eye on USC.  There's no reason they can't be right back in it if they win out, and USCPN would love to jock them for a championship game even at 11-1.

TV would love either tOSU/USC, or tOSU/UT.

I chuckle every time I hear the "Mack whining" BS.  He was absolutely right, and proved it on the field.  So did Cal.

How can you be so sure? Auburn, Florida, and Notre Dame are ranked ahead of Texas right now and are not undefeated. What exactly about the remainder of the soft Big XII schedule makes you think they'll leapfrog these teams if one or more of them continue to win? Let us not forget that Notre Dame's SOS would be far and away better than UT's and Auburn and Florida play in the SEC. The Big XII is no SEC. Longhorn daydreaming perhaps?

  2. Might this be the time for Dickey to gracefully bow out? I know the release says he will serve in a limited capacity but, if the speculation of his being gone at season's end is true, would it not be easier to move on and cite medical and family obligations?

I, like all of us, am concerned for Darrell the man first and foremost. I just wonder about the short and long term future of our program.

  3. 1)Might Texas weasel their way into the title game again? Ohio State and Michigan (both undefeated) have to play eachother later in the season. Auburn still has to play the remainder of an SEC schedule (far harder than a Big XII one this season). USC looked vulnerable yesterday. West Virginia and Louisville have to play eachother so that's a loss on the record of one of them. Can Notre Dame keep winning? I think it's possible Texas might beat an exposed Tech team, A&M, Ok State and whomever the North sends to the title game to sneak into the title game...just maybe? Might we hear Mack Brown crying for the media to "take control of college football" again?

2)What if Rutgers continues to win? Could we see an undefeated Scarlett Knights team shut out of the title game in favor of a one loss team?

  4. This is where we stand now folks. We are woefully behind a team who just beat Memphis with the "greatest play in Arkansas State football history" as the reporter on this video suggests.

I think I just threw up in my mouth. huh.gif

  5. 1)We are better than Marshall. Yes, I said it, we are better. Marshall's QB threw 4 interceptions today...3 of them there wasn't a receiver within 5 yards. Their run defense is HORRIBLE and the pass defense is slightly better. I'm sure SMU has some talent but they were made to look great.

2)Poor Sooners. They now have NO chance in the Big XII South race. Peterson was their offense.

3)Gary Pinkel is a moron. Even with 4 fumbles Missouri could have won this game. They took a delay of game penalty on purpose down by 5 in the red zone on 4th down, then FAKED THE FIELD GOAL! Then, on 4th and 2 on the next possession...after their running game was stopped all day...they call a freakin QB keeper! They deserved to lose.

4)Tech has been exposed. Winless Colorado beats them 30-6? Those 6 were cosmetic points VERY late in the game.

  6. Can't disagree here. We have, in my opinion, 1 1/2 wins. FIU may be the only team on our schedule where, coming into the season, you could say "yeah that's a win." To have taken them to 7 overtimes only proves what we and the rest of the country know...our offense is a shadow of what it was several years ago. And bear and mind that this means we are a shadow of an offense never ranked higher than 87th or so nationally during Dickey's tenure.

Ranked higher than SMU? Let's recap.

    Blown out by Texas.

    Good win vs. the ponies.

Physically dominated by Tulsa in the second half (I was there)

Taken to the woodshed early by Akron and then decided to play (far too little too late)

Blown out AT HOME by a team that had never beaten us.

7 overtimes to beat a winless FIU team.

SMU on the other hand has wins over Arky State (can we do that?), Sam Houston State (ok, iffy), and Tulane in New Orleans. Their losses were a blow out loss to Tech, us, and a close one against a decent UTEP team.

If we trade schedules could we guarantee similiar results? Seriously. With Dickey and RF.

  7. LaTech......

3 of the 4 losses are to top 25 teams, and the other loss is to Texas A&M. I think everyone would have guessed they would be 1-4 at this point in the season.

I completely agree. With the way our offense and kick coverage look up to this point how in the world can ANYBODY be a "should win" game? Especially a team that's played top tier competition up to this point.

  8. Emmitt is right-on on this.  We ARE running the exact same stuff we always have.  Defenses have adjusted.  Southern Miss made a blueprint for how to defend our offensive "attack" (attack really shouldn't be used in a DD offense).  What did we do in response?  We did the exact same thing over and over again.

In summary:  The defenses adjusted to our offense - we can't/won't counter their adjustments.

Why is it your posts remind me of a book report? laugh.gif

Mas amor por tu mi primo.

  9. Yes, this is what I have been saying for awhile now.  We are running close to the same offense we always have so it's not our offense, it's the fact our line is awful.  When you look at our line though they look as big and strong as ever.  What's the difference?  Our O-line coach is terrible...which was obvious when we hired him away from powerhouse Army...

Andy Brewster for our next O-line coach!

I just wanted to highlight one thing you said...We are running close to the same offense we always have BINGO!!! Teams have evolved their defenses to shut down the most predictable offense any of us have ever seen.

Are we to believe that after more than half a decade with the same OC that we can't figure out how to add a few new wrinkles or how to surprise somebody? And don't give me this "we don't have an o-line" crap...we don't even TRY new plays so with or without an o-line you could defend this garbage.

  10. How about we sell beer only in the endzones? Put an usher at every entrance/exit to those aluminum monstrousities and card everyone that walks into the endzones. Nobody is allowed to leave the endzone with ANY liquids. Move the $5 seats (if they are still that much) into the upper rows or corners of the student side, or just put them all in one endzone and sell beer in the other one.

  11. Illuvius, I agree with you on the whole O-line issue. But it's insane to think that this is where the problem lies. You say a quick slant won't work, or a quick out, or a fade, or whatever. WHERE ARE THOSE PLAYS IN THE GAMES? I could sit here all day and tell you that running the triple option wouldn't work but I'd be hard pressed to prove it because, like all the plays you mentioned, we don't run the triple option. Hard to argue that something won't work when we don't even try it.

And you must have a hell of a lot of confidence in SUN BELT defenses to think they're able to take away everything. If our coaching staff doesn't at least TRY to show defensive coordinators something new then defenses will be able to defend everything we do...how hard is it to defend a playbook that's 5 pages long?

  12. With Wilson unable to make any reads JaMo will get killed this year.  Yes Wilson will get yards but can he get more than JaMo should.  In 2004 Hall was able to check to the plays that were open for the running back. Wilson is unable to make these reads so the O will have to be cut back.

Don't get on the line if the quarterback is the cause...........

Many times in the SMU the ball was going into the strength of the defense when checking to the other side would gave gained 6-7 yards not the 1 yard stop at the line.

Are you reading this Illivius? Somebody else whose only knock they can find on Woody is that he "doesn't make the correct reads." Boy, I sure hope one day we can put Peyton Manning under center so we can critique him on any/everything we can find to dig up.
