  1. The question remains why did Meager flourish during the spring and WW not.

    Flourish?

I'm glad you're on this board. You make me smile at least twice a day. In fact, will you promise to visit our tailgate this fall? A comedian with your pedigree could only add to the atmosphere.

  2. Your infatuation with Woody is just as bad.

Actually my "infatuation" with Woody is just a counter-point to the "Meager will start. God has spoken to me and told me so. I am going to ignore multiple years of on field proof and decree it to be so, Meager is our quarterback" talk. I could care less who starts as long as we win but I just can't handle 3 months leading up to the season listening to this crap.

  3. What's the 6 and 8 for the respective QB's stand for?

That, as I'm sure you knew before posting, stands for interceptions. Which would be a relevant stat in this argument were INT's not averaged into QB rating and were WW's QB rating not STILL higher.

  4. Dodge's credibility goes right out the window if WW sees the field. What does that teach the young kids coming up??? It is okay to miss but because your talented that you still get to play.....that is BS.

         You've said some funny outlandish things in the past but I think we've hit a new high (or is it low?). Dodge's credibility? My sides hurt. If, and this is a big IF, Woody was far and away the best quarterback missing voluntary workouts would have NOTHING to do with his "seeing the field." You wanna honestly tell me that if Brian Brohm missed voluntary summer workouts Louisville would bench him in the name of those who "put in the work"? Or that Arkansas would sit down Darren McFadden if he missed voluntary summer workouts? Please, please, tell me your Meager obsession hasn't taken you this far. I AM NOT, let's be clear on this, saying that Woody is the best quarterback on the roster...never have said that. But I'll stand by this until somebody, ANYBODY, on this roster proves me wrong....No QB has proven IN A GAME SITUATION to be head and shoulders above the rest. If there were a surefire proven front-runner summer workouts would not/should not have anything to do with his PT.

And the whole "don't give me the school BS either" argument, are you freakin kidding!!!??? How ever could we allow our student-athletes to possibly worry about their eligibility before football? Have we learned nothing from Texas Tech and Byron Hanspard? This is D1 football! This isn't intramurals! (thought I'd throw that in for your edification...happy now?)

    And just for fun:

    Meager, Daniel 11 97.63 100-53-6 53.0 517 4 54 47.0

    Wilson, Woody 8 98.84 90-54-8 60.0 528 2 33 66.0

Hmmm...more total yards, yards per game and completions in 3 less games? A higher QB rating and completion percentage? I'm telling you, Woody's inaccuracy will just never cut it.

  5. To bad that Woody doesn't want to paly as bad as you wnat him too. If he did he would have worked out this summer with the team and showed the other players that he had an interest in being a QB

Oh I forgot that he won the SMU game so he doesn't need to pratice....

You're exactly right. And, save the incoming freshman, who exactly showed you ANYTHING last year to make this relevant?

  6. Your first sentence is somewhat puzzling. My quote "I am not making the point that they don't deserve the honor, but why were they singled out for this honor" seems clear to me. I agree with you that if you based athletic awards based on join academic, athletic, and overall citizenship that NT could not do better than Rosalyn. She not only had a stellar athletic career but was at the time one of two NT students every named a Rhodes Scholarship Semi-Finalist. However academic prowess is usually not a big factor in athletic accolades. Joe Greene without question the most heralded NT athlete of all times did not graduate unless he did after his pro career. Rosalyn was an unique person not only having a solid basketball career but battling back from a major injury. But I do think it is difficult to justify her or Jalie being one of the only two NT basketball players to have their jerseys retired.

That's my whole point. They shouldn't be the only two with their jerseys retired. They should be among a larger group.

  7. I think Rosalyn Reades and Jalie Mitchell selection to the NT athletic hall of fame is certainly well deserved. But I have always wondered why they were honored with the hanging of their jerseys (retirement of numbers?) in the Superpit. No men's team member has every been so honored despite the fact that men's basketball has a much longer history. Yes they played on the most successfully women teams in NT history but the teams never won a conference title (they were division champions) and were basically non-competitive against mediocre level NIT teams. They are all time statistical leaders for NT but the men's team counterpoints have not been so honored.

I am not making the point that they don't deserve the honor, but why were they singled out for this honor when players like Clara Campbell who was the star of the only women's team to go to the NCAA tournament was not. Men like Kenneth Lyons and Joe Hamilton certainly deserve the honor as much if not more. Joe Hamilton was the best player IMO ever at NT and played and was a star in the best conference in American at the time. Kenneth Lyons led the team for all four years and still has as far I know the Southland conference record for scoring in a Southland tournament game. Forty + points against conference MVP and future NBA great Carl Malone. I would also rate players such as Chris Davis and Jessie Ratliff as comparable to Jalie Mitchell and ahead of Rosayln Reades in contributions to NT athletics.

This obviously is not a major issue, and again I applaud Reades and Michell selection to the NT HOF. It just seems to me that the retirement of the jerseys especially when they were still in school was done hastily. Anyone know how and why the decision was made and who made the decision?

I think your argument proves more that the others should have the numbers hanging from the rafters than that Roz and Jalie shouldn't. And as far as Rosalyn Reades, she would be the first on the list that I would retire and induct into the HOF. She was the embodiment of what we want in student athletes. Great player, soul of her team, and an outstanding student and ambassador for the athletic program!

  8. ....you've ever bought anything/everything with a North Texas logo on it just because you were suprised to see the store carrying it

....you don't wear hats much, but own 7 NT hats

....you've ever started a campaign to get t-shirts from other Texas schools off your campus and then sent them to the homeless shelters closest to the other campuses

....you know more about the rosters/history/playbooks of the other Texas universities than 99.9% of their "fans"

....your wife has ever begun a sentence with "do you want to go to this wedding with me..." and ended the sentence with "nevermind, that's during football season, huh?"

....the words "miracle in the desert" make you smile from ear to ear

....you consider a trip to New Orleans as "My Yearly Christmas Vacation"

....you check gomeangreen.com before you hop in the shower, while you get dressed, and just before you walk out the door for work...all in the span of 10 minutes

....there is a room in your house that, before anything was moved in, was painted green

  9. He rarely looks past the first receiver. Even when he scrambles, he is still looking at his first option throughout the play. From that video, it's easy to see why Mack Brown was recruiting him as an athlete and not a QB.

Yes, but if DD was coaching him he could easily correct him of this problem, right? Then he'd never have to look past the first running back for the hand-off.

  10. OK. I'll take the beating. I don't see anything wrong with this. If folks want to wear UNT gear quite often (like I do), I don't want to be wearning green every day of the week. I think this is smart so that the public will have a variety of colors to wear when they are coordinating their clothes for the day. The important part is that it says North Texas or Mean Green!!

Oh I couldn't agree more. When I'm trying to convey Mean Green nothing says it quite like cookie monster blue.

  11. i like that he's not afraid to lower his shoulder and make a defender pay for tackling him. He won't be able to do that at the Div 1A level and stay healthy, but it's great to see a guy that plays with that intensity. And he can run a little bit as well!

I know a guy we have on roster right now who does the same thing and all we've ever done is knock him for it. "Why can't he just run out of bounds and not towards the defenders?" <_<

  12. How much would it have cost to take a cab? I'm sure it would've been a lot less than getting busted for DWI. If you think using a 3,000 pound vehicle without your full facalties is not felony attempted murder, then I hope you, or one that is close to you is maimed or killed by a drunk driver. Drinking and driving is just plain F'd up. It's simple, if you have one drink, then you need to spend at least one hour where you are not behind the wheel of a vehicle.

On the guy in Florida, he did the crime and he knew he must register as a sex offender. To bad, so sad!!!!

This seond chance $hit, because he didn't know or she's too young is what is Ridiculous.

Felony attempted murder? How many people have you put in jail for DWI? How many have you stopped and talked to? It is obvious you don't understand what the court system and jails would have to do to make this a reality...or just how absurdly low the conviction rate would become.

I do think the penalties should be more harsh though. Probation for DWI, especially given how hard it is to get a conviction, is a joke. Mandatory jail time, even if it's only 3-5 days.

  13. I'm signed up for 2...and it shows me as order #19.

Guys, go to the exes website, click on the road trip and then click on "RSVP here" and then the next page will have a link titled "Register Now" in the upper right hand corner. This is where you pay and lock down a seat for sure.
