  1. My understanding is that there were height restrictions imposed by University Park when SMU built Ford Stadium.  How much of the money is going to go to the UP establishment to get them approve this?

This is something that North Texas is not prepared to do. The tiny east side stands are horribly insufficient for major college football.

And that tiny part of Apogee always gets 95% of the TV camera shots while few viewers ever see the more impressive press box side.

I've always thought that the next step would be to add suites on the east side, mirroring the west side.  Some additional seating could be added, but if more suites could be sold, that would pay for it.

  2. From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LIU_Sharks:

The LIU Sharks are the athletics teams representing Long Island University's (LIU) campuses in Brooklyn and Brookville, New York.[2] The Sharks compete in NCAA Division I athletics[3] and are members of the Northeast Conference.[4] The LIU Sharks are the result of the July 1, 2019 unification of the athletic departments which had previously represented two separate campuses of LIU, the NCAA Division I LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds and the NCAA Division II LIU Post Pioneers

The Brookville campus apparently was originally CW Post University.

I guess they're filling a void created by Hofstra dropping football after 2009, who was somewhat of a power in I-AA.

Why would you want to throw tortillas? That's Texas Tech's thing and they have a reason in their history for it. We do it and people will say we copied them. No thank you

    Let's go to the videotape...

2005... what I didn't know was that @FirefightnRickwas almost thrown out of Fouts for possession of tortillas during the same game that @SilverEagle had his scuffle with Ramon Flanigan!

  4. I suspect that the driving forces behind this new bowl game are Wren Baker, Dr. Smatresk, G. Brint Ryan, and Mike Aresco of the AAC.  I would not be surprised for the game sponsor to be Ryan LLC, and I expect the game will be held at Toyota stadium, given the relationships that already exist.  The only question is whether NT will play in this bowl.

Personally, I think that Toyota stadium has too small of a capacity for the number of NT fans who would attend a bowl so close to home.  Yes, we've never sold out Apogee, but we did have 35,000 or so at the HOD Bowl in 2013.  We certainly could sell way more tickets than the 20,500 that Toyota stadium holds, and that doesn't include the number of tickets our opponent might sell.

If we're in it, I'd love to see the game be played at Apogee instead, but I don't think that's realistic given that it's our home stadium (although that's OK for the Hawaii bowl), the limited number of hotel rooms in Denton, and, unfortunately, the lack of support by the Denton community for NT athletics.

So my hope is that NT gets to play in the Armed Forces Bowl against another Texas school, and this new bowl then has a couple of out-of-state schools invited.
