  1. Mean Green will not have an eagle on our uniforms unless RV has just been misquoted in every article that I have ever read.

Stebo, I know you are the defender of the "Mean Green" nickname, but we are still and will always be the Eagles. Plus, the new eagle logo is on every uniform including the current one of the football team with it located on the pants and the soles of the shoes. All RV has done is emphasize the nickname, not eliminate the mascot.

  2. How about someone who is in the decision making role giving Hayden Fry a call and asking his opinion. After all, he was the most successful in turning things around here at North Texas. Ask him if there is another Hayden Fry out there wanting to get his chance.

I have wondered why Dodge has never done this, and had this thought over the weekend. It is quite obvious that Fry wants to see NT succeed, and I am sure he would embrace this type of involvement with the program. He did so much with so little during his time here, that I am sure he would have a million ideas considering the facilities now available to a head coach.

Heck, hire me for half of TD's salary. I'll stand on the sideline with direct connection to Coach Fry in the pressbox and just do what he says.

  3. Sad but true point made in this thread. North Texas has a practice facility named after a coach that left our fine university with scorched earth policy and an overall record of 42-64 and only 3 winning seasons in his nine years spent at NT. He also did not have a winning season until his 5th season in Denton, yet nothing to honor Hayden Fry, Odus Mitchell or Corky Nelson. Talk about an embarassment.

  4. I also sit in section C. I sit amoung a hornets' nest of the disgruntled. By simply paying attention, over time, I cant just about tell you who are some of the parents, grand parents, ex-players (from anywhere), coaches wives, etc....because they are the ones that keep their damn mouths shut !!!

Yelling out insults directly at a player, coach, etc in front of their families is just classless...oh yeah, I know I know, you have a right to be classless !!

Wish I could give you more than one +1. :clapping:

  5. We couldn't have a serious discussion about anything. Everyone wants to give the cleverest, cutest and glibest (if there is such a word) response to every thread.

Nope, just a few. I fought the fight last year and got suspended from the board twice, so now I just live with it.

  6. I really like the blue and red colored seats they have. Any chance we are going to have green seating? The silver at Fouts looks very bare when unoccupied.

We will actually have dark orange seats for about 25 to 30 years and then there will be a push to change them to green and much discussion about why this wasn't done from the start.

  7. VIRTUALLY everyone knows that lack of proper training and conditioning can be contributing factors to players having a rash of injuries early in a season. I don't think anyone is conclusively blaming the coaching staff, but how these guys were prepared for the season is certainly something to consider. If you must have some authoritative literature on the subject, here is a brief article on ACL injuries. Try Google if you need a few thousand more resources on the subject. http://www.synergy-athletics.com/effective-strength-training/why-young-athletes-tear-acls/

I have worked in the Health and Wellness field for over 18 years, and while this can be a contributing factor to ligament tears, this is not the only reason the ACL is torn or ruptured. Many other factors contribute to this type of injury that have nothing to do with the level of conditioning, muscular strength or muscular endurance such as:

    Condition of the playing surface.

    Footwear.

Angle and force placed upon the joint (accidental roll-up)

Foot getting caught underneath the player (ala Benny Jones' injury)

Angle and force placed upon the joint by an opposing player.

Laying the blame at the feet of our strength and conditioning coach for ALL of these injuries is short-sighted and VIRTUALLY everyone would agree with that.

  8. A few of us were chatting about this in chat during the game. Bottom line, if your players can't execute the plays in your playbook, adjust the plays for two reasons:

    (1) increase chance of execution, and

    (2) reduce injuries.

Our injuries aren't minor cramps and bruises they are serious injuries, not only physically, but will feed into a lack of confidence for the guys in the huddle getting the play.

Not sure I'm following what you are saying. Are you stating that the plays we are running could lead to an increase in injuries, so the plays should be adjusted, and that due to the injuries suffered by some of our players the rest are scared to run the called plays?
