  1. And the reason UNLV's arena is packed is because there's an expectation of WINNING. I don't care if you build another American Airline Center where the Pit stands, you won't fill it up if you don't put a winning product on the court, night in and night out.
  2. This is awesome. I don't know what the hell is wrong with the rest of yous.
  3. It's becoming more difficult to argue with the latter, given we've posted consistent bottom-quarter recruiting classes while also posting bottom-quarter win totals for about a decade (outside of 2013). But if it makes anyone feel better, JJ Watt was a two-star guy. So it's really about what these guys do once they get on campus, the work they put in, and the way the coaches develop them. Charlie Strong helped put a lot of guys into the NFL, last year, by way of Louisville, who weren't highly-rated, nor highly-recruited out of HS. So it's truly a combination of everything. I am excited about the guys coming in and I am looking forward to seeing how they grow, perform.
  4. Is WKU's defense expected to improve dramatically from last year to this year?
  5. Good point. Also, WKU's secondary wasn't anything to write home about, either. They had the 117th ranked defense.
  6. I don't see how anyone could look at this schedule and predict with confidence more than one win, based on last year's results. Without a significant upgrade at QB, we'll have a hard time getting back to last year's win total. But I agree with previous posters: This team has to jump out to a fast start and take Rice and SMU from the get-go to have any momentum going into the rest of the C-USA schedule. La Tech and MTSU on the road are going to be very difficult -- especially if we struggle offensively.. WKU is an exceedingly tall order (despite my previous statements), but this provides a good opportunity for a big upset win at home. Their defense wasn't very good, so any improvement on offense will help our chances. Again, QB play... I'd call UTSA and USM toss-ups. As for Iowa and Tennessee, I'm looking forward to the road trip. Knoxville is a fine college town. Would it be fair to say, as the QB position goes, so goes the season?
  7. Yeah, let's make like a bunch of Texans fans traveling to a Cowboys game and force the home team into a silent count.
  8. I agree with all of these things in bold. I disagree with you regarding the things in italics. The item in the underlines I am cautious of, but undecided on. But all of that's okay. Or at least, I think it's okay. Because go mean green.
  9. Well our women's basketball coach was good enough for Texas. Our men's coach was good enough for LSU. But you guys seem to have one agenda. which best I can tell includes saying the same thing over and over to the same group of people who can literally do nothing about any of it, so there's not much point in offering any of the positives that have happened to this program under RV's watch -- or any positives in general, because THE SCHEDULE. AHH THE SCHEDULE.
  10. I've been disappointed with several things over the past decade, but let's not forget the man has overseen a period of change that has completely altered the face of UNT athletics, allowing it to be on-par with many of our Texas "peer institutions" in almost every measurable category. Where we trail the rest of the state's Div-1 programs (specifically the Big 12 schools + SMU and to a lesser degree, UH) is *ahem* alumni donations and fan support/attendance.
  11. I don't think it's woeful to point out we are playing a garbage opponent on what is typically a busy travel weekend for the Metroplex. Just an observation. I don't know why my pointing it out would be bothersome to you.
  12. That's the part you took issue with? Fine. I've got us winning against Portland State. That's it. Wah-wah.
  13. I'd be more concerned with attendance for that 10/10 home date against a big shrug of a program, Portland State, on TX-OU weekend, which is one of the worst weekends to travel into or around the Metroplex.
  14. I've got us with three wins: BYE Portland State WKU
  15. I'm okay with it if it there's a correlating decrease in our acceptance rate due to increased admissions standards. I think the Top 5% getting free tuition idea is genius.
  16. We have a top-50 accounting program, remember? They'll figure something out.
  17. I think Texas Tech offers in-state to New Mexicans who live in counties that border Texas.
  18. This is indeed great news. Gives an alternative to OU and OSU and whatever other colleges they have in Oklahoma. I was surprised to see that out of ~34k students, only 74 came from Oklahoma. Especially given the fact we're only ~50 miles from the border.
  19. Might be worth asking A&M if they want to help bolster up the West. Although they haven't really even competed for a title in the post WWII era, they do bring a strong fanbase to the table. Worst they can say is "no."
  20. I'm with you. But U-La-La is fine, too. Easy drive from Houston. Best regional cuisine in the conference.
  21. But FOUR conference championships, which is exactly four more than everyone else since Dickey, combined.
