  1. Is there anyone gathering for the MUTS game. Any bars in Denton or FTW?
  2. I hate TT, but they will hang close to 70 on this team. FIU played above there aheads and against a bad team last week. Look for a 68-10 or 77-14.
  3. Did FIU run or throw the ball against K-State
  4. Green Bat what were you thinking...of course you cannot compare working and going to school with play football and going to school. After all, your job probably funded your school and your books and more than likely your food and neccesities. You would be foolish to compare that to someone who has 80% of everything paid for and has to maintain a 1.8GPA. SILLY BAT!!!! Welcome to the REAL world TJ...where not everyone gives a rip about you.
  5. I would prefer the bowl in shreveport and not laf. Shreveport can give us some good exposure in that region and could steal away some good recruits from La Tech. Laf. would be awful...everythings awful there.... BTW, as mentioned earlier Shreveport would give some of us a better chance at attending.
  6. I agree with the Vet...having a scrimmage or practise in know way is in poor taste...btw if there is a scrimmage someone please post the date and time. PLEASE
  7. I was talking to someone the other day about the upcoming years (2006 and 2007) and they led me to believe that we have a home and home with TCU. i saw the post earlier about who our OOC was next year: @ texas @ tulsa la tech smu Is there any chance that we would play smu and tcu in the same season...or do we pick up tcu once the smu contract is over. I know air force is in there somewhere and we may have to go back to hell (littlerock-stadium sucked, people sucked, game-----). Anyone have an inside scoop on this.
  8. Indiana and Vandy are fine...but I think we are thinking more regional...more costs involved with loading up an entire team on plana. LA TECH, TULSA....drivale in under 5 hours. While I like your idea...in my opinion we should stay more regional for now and grow into those far-away games. Theres plenty around here to ge fired up about...SMU, TCU, HOU, RICE, Tulsa, Memphis, La Tech...throw in a TX St (just for the ass kickin) and you have a nice regional OOC schedule.
  9. Please not the Basketball thing again.....
  10. Not sure if anyone will know this but...do you think that LSU will pay any portion of the $500k to NT. After all it was there call to cancell the game. Not trying to be heartless here but they preached the contract not NT. I wonder if there is a preach of contract clause that states portions of the alloted amount will be paid upon breach of contract. I'm sure there is a Mother Nature clause in there too. Just trying to get some money out of this game regardless if we play or not. I agree this is great news we open with MUTS...we'll kick the holy sh*t out of them then come back to Fouts, WIN, and be looking right down the barrell of the Purple pansies from 2-0...beat them we're 3-0 and off to the races. Someone call NO tell them to get OUR QUARTER cleaned up...we'll be there in a few months. Happy Football Season Everyone!!!!!
  11. Not sure if the Atheletic Dept was counting on the $500K, but I'm sure it was in the budget. This will have an effect on the Ath Dept as a whole, not just football. Rescheduling a game would be next to impossible...the logistics of scheduling and traveling would be difficult...although since there are several teams in that region that will be affected it could happen. Playing LSU this year is more that likely out of the question...The $500K most of it will be gone, probably as much as 75%. Maybe we could schedule So Miss...and recoup some of that money...we would have schedule them at the end of the season and as it works out we could play them and then 2 weeks later play the NO Bowl. Sounds like a win win...only if So Miss is not trying to reschedule there money game too. Moot has a good point about scheduling a I-AA team. Maybe we could entice on of those teams to come to Fouts...we could pay there contract breach (which is minimal) and then cut them a nice check to come here. It could happen...
  12. Holy Crap...I love that ring...what was the price range...dont need specific, just an estimate, say within $200-300.
  13. I cant tell anything either...looks like the webcam is shoot from somewhere in Krum.
  14. Ransom has to want to play...al I've seen is him limping and going about half speed.
  15. They should appeal being Louisiana-Monroe...and vote on just being the University of the Indians.
  16. In basketball, however, all it takes is a good facility, good attendance, good players, and a good coach to get the name out there. I'm convinced we have the good facility and I think we're starting to get good players. Attendance is nowhere even close, although it has been rising these past couple years. The coach, I dunno. JJ has at least stopped the bleeding by getting us to around .500 these past couple years, but there's been so many games where we could've won had things been handled a bit differently, imo. We'll see what happens this year now that KD can play. Lets see...A GOOD Facility...GOOD Attendance...GOOD Players...and a Good Coach. That sounds like what every team in every conference in every sport needs to be a GOOD TEAM. The recipe for success if officially reveiled on this very post. Thank You.
  17. Basketball vs Football the age old debate. Which is more profitable for NT...well we all know that the 24 people who are currently attending the the basketball games are certainly covering the expenses that are incurred when you turn on the lights, cool/heat the building, pay for the reps, etc.etc. Or you could have your Perrenial football champion go to far off places play the best teams in the country, get their teeth kicked in for 3 hours or so and have them foot the bill for portions of the entire atheletic budget. Now before the roundballers jump on me I understand the economics of having our Champion Football travel to FL twice this year will strain the budget to the limits...that's a bad deal, but if works out like this it will only be everyother year. I know that the basketball team would be cheaper to travel with, of course they travel more, but it would be cheaper..Just curious if anyone has any idea how close it would be. Football while extremely expensive over the past 4 years has been I would argue profitable for NT...Exposure in the NO Bowl. Theres a paycheck...Playing OU, UT, LSU, K-STATE, ALABAMA, U ofAZ, UA, BAYLOR, these game have all paid off big...the increased attendance, while minimal, its still an increase, theres a paycheck. As for Fouts, that stadium has paid for itself 10 times over...aside from the recent additions of the lights and the field, NO and I me NO upgrades have been made. I would agree that basketball may cost less ( I would cont to argue not by much) Football is what will make or break this atheletic program. Aside from the 2-3 Basketballl powerhouses in the nation, there are not many basketball only schools. Football always has and always will drive the bus that ALL other sports ride on...its true at the BIG 12 schools and its true at Good Ol NT
  18. uuuhhhh...after rereading my post earlier, I think yours sounds better.
  19. Dont get me wrong I love the new field and yes it makes the stadium look better...just remember wearing all black makes fat girls look thin too.
  20. Still some guy there working the pellets in at this very moment...Damn that field looks great.
  21. Byerly will end up being what could have been...I would not even expect him back, next year. I could be wrong, but if having been named the starter wont make you take care of your business in the class room, I can just imagine what having nothing to study for will do for him. Other-side of coin...maybe this makes him understand that things will not be handed to him, and becomes a better student because of this and comes back and makes a difference on the field next year, that would be great......just as long as its not at QB---that oppt is gone.
  22. Maybe Ieans is shaping up for the 3 spot...when he was in he was looking run first then pass. Meager and Phillips looked pass first run second, that what we need since ever team will be stacking us 8 in the box. As for practice...I agee with Dawg, grading the 2 QB's anything less than a B is a tough score...they wern't great but they weren't horrible either. Noticed that the OL wore down...Lineberry went out, the center was getting beat alot. I liked the play of our DT...Raymond and Pistole played well...Ransom was a dissappointment I watch him on several plays and he took the majority of them off...maybe an injury-noticed him limping last week. Like the LB...Again I agree with Dawg, Nwigwe played well, I liked the fact he mixed it up. Interesting to see Graves in there...I know Monroe is hurt, but he played well, he's a little (Alot) undersized for that position, but he has a nose for the ball. Liked the change of pace Robertson gives us at RB, not sure if will wever play...personally I would redshirt him, we will be a nice compliment for JMO next year. BTW, i would redshirt Nwigwe too. We are so frickin deap at TE...not sure what the plan is...I noticed Eddrick playing DE, not sure how that will work out. I would imagine that if he wants to play TE they will redshirt him, if he wants to play this year he would need to play DE...knocked down a ball or 2 today, does not look comfortable in that position though. Overall, good practice/scrimmage. Several highlights of the day--PD/JMO runs...but I think it was DD words of encouragement when the Offense was down on the Goal line trying to go into the endzone...for those of you who were there you are laughing for those of you who weren't it was an impressive display of words and how to make a point!!!
