  1. 2 questions this whole MWC reshuffling has left me a bit confused?............ 1. why is utah st. suddenly the sweetheart of the Mountain West. I know they were invited but decided to decline the offer. 2. why is bYu leaving behind a conference they helped build? 3. they already had a good league why do all of this? why not just add boise and fresno and call it good?
  2. this honestly doesnt effect us, but i find it funny WCC>WAC.... i consider this bad news for the WAC. now there only hope is calling up Montana?, TxStSM, UTSA maybe>?
  3. we need atleast 5 wins this year...DD had 5 conference wins by his 4th year so i think that would be appropriate
  4. hahaha plum that was nice... how bout "the green" replacing fry st. for easy places to find green!
  5. ok i got it now, i wasnt sure what else those things could be for except that. will there be any bleachers? i hope not
  6. ive always loved the pit... when its packed with over 10k its gotta be top 3 in the sunbelt maybe even #2 behind magness
  7. yea thats gonna be a big one against a good team.... a win would be huge for confidence and momentum for the rest of the season
  8. i like simply "the green" or like plum said go with a corporate sponser...
  9. yeah i feel you plumeangreen, you prob realized long ago my wise guru..... im just now realizing how most of this is political man! I know UNT or La Tech may not either recieve invites to CUSA. it could be Troy or Temple... La Tech has been the benefitor of there WAC (and the "old WAC") affilition... and that has just gotten to there heads!! so much so that they say, "we're are above the Sun Belt!"... so when CUSA does add another member either North Texas or anyone but LT, The fans in Ruston will find themselves either in a post-apocolyptic WAC or lucky to be in the SBC. Either way these delusional cajuns will finally have to accept themselves for what they are... a team thats no better than atleast the upper echelon of the Sun Belt i.e( NT, MTSU, Troy) . they also got this thing with ULM... they are no better than them or Lafayette... JMO La Techs only hope is that there "politics" can swing some kind of miracle.......but if you look around FBS there are all kinds of oddities look at... Baylor Big 12 UAB CUSA Wyoming MWC Nevada MWC
  10. just read this comment from one of the La Tech longtime bloggers on the la tech forum --------------------- Bottom line is that it hasn't gotten to the point where it would benefit Tech monetarily to join the Sun Belt yet. But the difference in revenue is tightening... because the WAC is losing it's best football member and the Sun Belt is not. The Sun Belt is a more stable conference than the WAC because the MWC could eventually add Fresno State and Nevada or Hawaii if they want to expand in the future. If that happens, the WAC will cease to exist. Another point is that if Tech joined the Sun Belt, the Sun Belt would probably become the #3 Non-AQ BCS conference ahead of the WAC, which would make Sun Belt revenue surpass WAC revenue. You have a valid question and I think what it boils down to is that Tech does not want to be in the same conference as ULM and therefore, we will stay in the WAC until the WAC no longer exists or an invitation to CUSA or another conference comes along. ......so i guess it comes down to them just not respecting ULM. i'd say let the two teams play and see who wins. my money would be on ULM
  11. LA TECH THINKS A WEAK WAC IS STILL BETTER THAN THE SBC.... these dudes are honest to god delusional at best! IMO i see the SBC picking up both La tech and NMSU... the wac can only survive if they add UTSA and TS@SM... and who knows the SB may be more intrested in pickin up UTSA or San Marcos... why would they want to join a 6 team wac and travel to Idaho, Hawaii, USU, and san jose... whatever happens i still think troy, unt, la tech, and mtsu have the best chance at getting into CUSA which to the WAC and SB should be a big upgrade! hopefully with the new stadium it will put on top... smu are the only ones who dont want us
  12. Clemson- 38 UNT- 35 i think UNT can put some point on the board!!! cmon mean green lets get the ball to dunbar and play good on D and special teams... anything could happen and im seeing a closer game than most predict
  13. man this memphis dude owned there entire board!!!!!!!!... i like how the ONLY thing La Tech can say is "SMU wont let UNT in CUSA" thats a bunch of crap. memphis honestly belongs in a better conference than CUSA, but its nice that atleast 1 of there fans see's us a player for CUSA
  14. i like the decision. You name a starter and stick with it.
  15. first memory????? i think it was '96 homecoming VS Boise St. we got beat but ill never forget the flying green tortillas... to a 10 year old kid it was pretty crazy. whats even crazier is that boise is now a top 5 team in the nation... whodathunkit?
  16. avg attendance 2010 - 21k 2011 - 29k 2012 - 32k Didnt we sellout fouts when we played Baylor in 03'? so if we can pack out fouts, no doubt we can sellout the new stadium!
  17. thanks for the responses guys. i wanted to say my list reflects New MG being sold out 32k every week and us winning 9 games a year. yea i have to admit that i have Gerald Ford Stadium a little low, but I must say though that when you take into account stadium size, age, location, attendance, and all of the other factors that make a college football game what it is... you have to put New MG Stadium right up there with the best of the best outside the BCS. Ford field looks like the gold standard for Non-BCS stadia but i think NT can do much better than them. Ford stadium is hard to get too and its traffic like hell on I45. I guess thats what excites me the most about this whole thing... just how sweet it "could" be.
  18. Wuts up MG Nation? It has been along time since i last posted on here, (00-03' glory years) but its good to see my account still works. Just curious to see what you guys think about how the new stadium stacks up against other schools in Conference USA. IMO when complete the new MG stadium will be one of the nicest outside the BCS. Alot of people might think who cares, but i think its important to stay out in front of our competitors with our facillities. Last time we were up for conference expansion we got canned for UTEP cuz we had crusty old Fouts Field. I know we arent winning right now which isnt so attractive to other conferences (or just CUSA ), but im know we will get back to our winning ways very soon. Its only a matter of time that we win the Sunbelt again... That being said here is how i break down some of the other CUSA/Sunbelt stadia compared to what will be rocking in 2011! NOTE-I havent been to alot of these stadiums so plz let me know how we will stack up against CUSA/Sunbelt facillities. CUSA/Sunbelt 1.ECU- Dowden-Ficklen Stadium - Steady progession with team and stadium renovated to seat 50K 2.Memphis - Liberty Bowl - Great stadium with a great bowl seats 50k 3.UCF - Brighthouse Networks Stadium - One of the newest stadia, press boxes are small though 4.UNT - NEW Mean Green Stadium - Best location and will be newest with a huge pressbox and suites 5.USM - M.M. Roberts Stadium - Looks very nice seats 36k 6.Tulsa - Skelly Field H.A. Chapman - Very nice and new stadium but holds only 30k 7.SMU - Gerald Ford - nice horse shoe shape but still only holds 30k 8.UAB - Legion Field - Hard to put a 80K seater this low but its old and they only avg 25K 9.Marshall - Joan C Edwards Stadium - Its big 40k + but its slightly outdated 10.UTEP - Sunbowl - very large but its old and looks out dated 11.FIU - FIU Stadium - Great design and will be upgraded to 40k + 12.Troy - Veterans Memorial Stadium - Lost naming rights money but has nice layout and nice press box 13.ULL - Cajun Field - not the nicest but open end hill means 40k + 14.MTSU - Johnny Red Stadium - nice layout but its old needs makeover 15.UH - Robertson Stadium - Very old looks ran down 16.Tulane - Superdome - Sorry it belongs to the Saints 17.Rice - Rice Stadium - HUGE PINK ELEPHANT!!! 18.ULM - Malone Stadium - Monroe smells bad 19.Ark St - ASU Stadium - Damn that thing is ugly
