  1. Fred Thompson; wasn't he an actor or something once? I'm no vegan, I just don't care what the Hollywood bunch say about us. If they want to send money, that's fine, as long as they just hand over the check and keep their piehole shut.

Fred Thompson is far from the Hollywood bunch. He's actually a pretty conservative Republican ... really more of a country boy from Tennessee. He was a Republican nominee for President in 2008. President Bush tapped him to lead Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito through their congressional hearings.

  2. Boise would kind of scare me. All they have to offer is winning football at this time. If that goes down then they offer absolutely nothing for us in a conference. I think they are working with a very slim margin. It's very hard to maintain a top ten program over the long haul and much, much, much harder to do it at a place like Boise. It wouldn't surprise me if five years from now they were fighting just to be in the top 20. I wouldn't be shocked if they were a .500 team. Maybe they can pull it off but the odds are against them.

  3. SMU won't be moving up to the Big 12 so we can stop that talk. I also think the Big 12 will add one team and continue on it's way.

However, what happens if Texas and OU (taking OSU with them) leave for independence and/or the Pac-12? Then I think you could see a big reorganizing of the non-BCS conferences. Perhaps the remainder of the Big 12 grab some western CUSA teams and some eastern MWC teams ... and maybe NT ... to form a new conference.

    New Conference

    Iowa State

    Kansas

    Kansas State

    Missouri

    Air Force

    Colorado State

    Baylor

    Texas Tech

    Houston

    SMU

    North Texas

    Tulsa

I'd love to replace Tulsa with Oklahoma State if they split from OU - heck, I'd replace Tulsa with just about any other school. I think this would immediately become the best non BCS conference - assuming it would lose it's BCS ranking. This is a conference I would love to follow even if it didn't include UNT.

Disclaimer: I spent about 10 minutes on this so forgive me if I've missed something obvious. Like I said, I don't think this will happen but it would be great for UNT if it did.

  4. Denton County Hamburger is still open on the square with the same hours they've had for 30 years.

And here's one change worth noting, the new fence and railing on North Texas Blvd. over I-35.

There's also a second location on ... Sunset? ... near 380 and Carroll (I think that's right ... years since I've been in Denton).

  5. And the truth comes out. Miami was a nobody until Jimmy arrived and they started buying players, which they are still doing after all these years. Your comment about my alma mater and the fact you used google to find the site coupled with your screenname tells me you have a vested interest in seeing something you think is marketable. Bye Troll.

Technically they won the '83 championship before Jimmy arrived. However, before the 80's they were close to dropping football. I'm not bashing Miami. They had an amazing run with some amazing players and teams. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they never recaptured that old magic.

  6. I came across this board via google.

North Texas needs something but copying the U is a slap in the face. Miami has 5 Nat'l chips & 10 conference titles. And North Texas sucks. Face it. And Miami is one of the iconic football programs. Smh.

Ten conference titles? UNT has 24 conference titles. Miami was an iconic program but they haven't been relevant on the field in several years. Now they are relevant off the field but not in a good way.
