.. --Yep no service answer.. as expected... Me I will answer .. I took a physical during the Tet Offensive.. failed due to surgery I had as a child although was surprised that happened. I was not completely excused though and could have been called up. You are comparing this to WWII .. WOW.. Japan attacked us and Germany declared war on us the next day and besides it was a war to survive... not some regional war... When Germany invaded Poland in 1939 we had 175,000 men in uniform.. TOTAL... and not enough army camps to train in or weapons to supply a real fighting army.. We joined the war after Pearl Harbor over TWO years later, Dec, 1941 because we just we not capable of doing well.. ... Stick with the real subject... I did lose a great-great grandfather in the Civil War... family is uncertain where he died.. that is the way things were then... no dogtags etc. Don't make stupid assumptions about people.. including me... You are not the greatest smartest wisest guy on earth.. You refused to answer the service question but are willing to put other's lives on the line. We know the answer... none, never knew of anyone in military that would refuse to answer it.. most are proud to have served. . . I have a first cousin that made a career of the Air Force after Nam then worked at Sandia afterward. Also ... many Americans were in British planes fighting in the air war "Battle of Britain" (knew one, flew Spitfires) and we were supplying them ammo and arms like crazy while we prepared..The first American troops on Europe soil invaded at Solerno Italy 10 months before Normandy and were trained in my hometown (36th division) .. knew some of them as well. An much older cousin was in the Bulge (age 17) under Patton.. about 20% of his unit survived. . ..but you won't answer... too private for you... hahaha.

-- ..a lot of wars {The British had a lot and in a lot of places, , there was the Napoleonic Wars, Franco-Prussian War, many in Asia, and many many more.. ... we just did not get involved.... how many major ones since WWII .. a lot of wars but they have all been regional and not worldwide and we seem to be involved in a lot of them unlike before. . Which military group did you join and what war did you fight in... MY wife lost her father as the result of WWII and I lost my two best HS friends to Nam.... People die ... Are these really worth losing American lives or having them come back blind or without limbs. ??... You won't answer... Again which service did you fight in???? If you graduated in 90 ... Desert Storm was available for you... did you go.. or even join ...since you are so eager to fight a war.?? ... War is not a game... and it seems that you are a fan and not a participant. .

.. ---As I said ... it is more about glaciers melted away and polar caps decreasing also ocean temps than weather or temps anywhere... Never said NE was the worst ever but it was very bad... and it is consistent with what would be expected. 90% of people in weather science think it is happening but maybe you are smarter than they are. The Pope and others once insisted the world was flat also ... go outside and look ... it looks flat..especially in a lot of West Texas. ..was he right.. ? .. plus some deny we have been to the moon ... what a ridiculious claim to say we have.... haha

--- You don't need government funding to see so many glaciers are gone or much smaller .. pictures work... nor do you need funding to see mountains that were snow covered year around that now have none much of the year.. Plus many lakes are lower and areas drier than they have ever been while other areas have had even more rain... (lakes may not be a great indication though, years do vary) Go ahead and deny the obvious.... We are going to not convince anyone that doesn't want to believe it.... for whatever reason they come up with.... After all there are still people who doubt we ever went to the moon despite all the weather and communication satellites that are now circling the earth. .... As for what is causing the weather to change somewhat.. that is debatable ... not that things are changing... even this winter was worse especially in the northern USA than most is likely due to more moisture (probably due to more ocean evaporation) in the atmosphere. Sometimes the truth just isn't what you want it to be.

.. ---How do you get I support anything or any one.... especially Russia.... The locals in Ukraine were tired of the government they had and tossed it.... that has led to a lot of instability.... and Russia is trying to take advantage of it at least in Crimea ....That is not good for the locals or us especially since they have so many nuclear weapons in the area. I am not so sure we would do a lot different if things went to hell in Canada especially in an area where a lot of American people lived. There is now no evidence that the idiot that wanted Jews registered had any connection with the Russia government.... It is possible I suppose but no indication of that yet. Just remember that about 20 years ago a lot of those people now alive were under the Russian or USSR government..... maybe many of them think things were better then than now in a country with a government in chaos..We need to monitor everything and see what happens is not contradictory to what most people there want. Why do you think I support Putin... I have never stated anything close to that..... only that the Crimea has a long history of being Russian... even before the USSR existed.

-- Who does Denis Pushilin ( that ordered the Jewish registration) actually represent....a legit government or just some wacko group...( we even have some..Aryan Brotherhood ) The Ukraine is a total mess.... with no real well supported government.... plus toss in that Russia is trying to exploit the situation to their advantage.... This whole "situation" started in Kiev, Ukraine (not very near Russia) when the locals got tired of the government they had. -- We need to remember the past .. Saddam was bad but is what replaced him any better ?? At least Iraq had never performed any terrorists acts toward us when he was there..he was a thug and killing the Islamic crazies and Al Qaeda types there.. he feared them also. (our real enemy) . ... Russia's hold card is that they control much of the oil and natural gas that is used in Western Europe... Western Europe is reluctant to "tick them off". This is a dangerous situation if Russia pushes it any further other than Crimea. The entire situation began in Kiev when people became disgusted with their OWN government.. (100's of miles away.) ----- Back to the 60's ... the Gulf of Tomkin Resolution was passed and the Viet Nam War escalated greatly after a false report of an attack on our ships..... that never happened... reports and comments need to be truthful... ... McNamara and others pushed for LBJ to "up the war" effort on a false and unconfirmed report (which McN. said had been).. which resulted in many men of my generation dying... many I knew.... I have no use for McNamara... and neither did his son who had no contact with him for years.... .

--- Global warming is not so much about warmer temperatures over land in general .... It is about poles getting warmer and melting ice plus ice/snow melting at high elevations ... plus the oceans which cover mosts of the earth getting warmier .. which in turn increases water evaporation..... This increased evaporation can cause cause more rain and even more snow in cold weather and actually result in many places being cooler on land.. --- Does it exist and why ... ?? Well there is less ice at the poles now sthan several years ago, every glacier in Alaska is getting smaller except four at mouths of rivers and they are increasing due to more water coming down from higher elevations (melted ice?).... Many mountains that once had snow caps year around don't now ... and Glacier National Park barely has any compared to what it once had... The above seem to indicate to me it exists somewhat..... as for the reason.... that is the big question .... Is it naturally occurring or man caused.?? You get to make your mind up on both issues. It seems to me a lot of people just don't understand what the warming really is...... it doesn't mean most land places will be warmer.... it is mostly about the poles and oceans but also some about year round snow and ice disappearing. NY harbor authorities claim the ocean is now about 1 foot above what it was 100 years ago ... The big problem that might result is the oceans getting higher and more bad weather problems which includes more snow (due to more ocean evaporation) in cold weather. Believe as you want... nothing will be solved here. .... Why some make this political seems odd. .. it is all science...... I am so old I remember people claiming we would get to the moon was ridiculous and so many other scientific thing that were predicted. ... some were right and some were wrong.. but in general.. most were right... I posted this on a home computer on the internet and anywhere in the world it can be read... I'm sure few people when I was in high school would believed that one if I said I could do that in my lifetime .. Even Star-Trek in the 60's used "communicators" aka cell phones now ..[ that was ridiculous then too ] Over 90% of climatologists believe in it happening.. meaning less than 10% don't.. I vote with the majority on this... but I am not convinced as to why it exists ...

Refund..???.. I got one back in the 1980's.... when I had a mortgage and three kids.

--- I suppose this is an attempt to make something funny out of something that really isn't .... and by some to attempt to make it political when there is nothing political about it .. get real..... Having spent years in a public school this is spooky ... There really is no way to prevent everything from happening. A kid could even break a broom handle and stab people.. More likely to happen is a very large crowded school where kids just view themselves as just "one of the cows". Just remember almost everyone in prison once attended a public school... Teachers had to deal with them...absolutely no way to make them 100% safe... Schools just do the best they can by paying attention to what is going on... .

--- It may work well for elementary level especially if done in a co-op situation or for early grades ... but don't try it for HS ones... The few I have had in my college classes were terrible and struggled to pass.. In math at that level sometimes they could work some problems but rarely did they have any real understanding of WHY it was working... They were just memorizing things and you can't memorize 10,000 details. [ I refer to those types as "cook-bookers" ]. Some also show up from public school as well but usually with not as many "holes" in what they know. .. Vary the problems a bit and the ones I have had were totally lost. Many just dropped or stopped coming.. -- My wife has had some transfer into her foreign language HS classes and the result may have been even worse.. most after a full year of homeschooling could not have passed her first semester exams... not even close most of them. She has even had instances where a mom was trying to teach her student a foreign language that Mom had never even had... that is not even funny as to what they knew... just the meaning of a bunch of random words and awful pronunciation basically.... --- One very smart girl I had in a college class made a low D on first exam, C on second and third, and B on fourth and the final .... She told me she learned more math in one semester from me than she had in all four years of home school. She was capable of catching up pretty well .. most aren't. She also had stayed after class several times asking questions and I think set up an appointment with me for help a time or two. Most won't do that either. She had worked like a dog. . Oddly I saw her younger brother at a tennis tournament... he was a spoiled brat... no social skills and threw a fit every time things didn't go as he wanted... He unlike her looked to be headed for a tough life. --- Mixed review on Private schools ... wife is now at a very good but expensive one (most students have professional parents.... lots are doctors, lawyers, oil business).... another one is ok but no better than public in my opinion but is better than 10 yrs ago.. and a third one is just strange and again not a lot better than home school kids... ( a few have realized it and transferred to my wife's school and are shocked at the difference and expectations). Several elem ones here seem ok. .

For those who defend having pit bulls... why is it that always seems to be that breed and never large collies or a large labs.... and most pits are nice until they go nuts.

The limbs were already gone and had only been there maybe four hours. ... Very unusual though, guess he was just making the rounds when they were still there.

.. You do realize we spend more than Russia, United Kingdom, France, and China combined for the military... We also spent a fortune chasing weapons in Iraq that didn't exist which most European countries said didn't.. How did that turn out for us other than 1000's killed and permanently injured. .??.. Saddam ( a thug) had been killing the Islamic crazies in that country which now are there. No terrorist acts prior to then to us had involved any Iraq citizens.. 16 of the 19 terrorist of 9-11 were from Saudi Arabia.. none from Iraq. Plus we have no business sending our troops into the Ukraine.... we don't rule the world. . Do you think we should reopen Fort Davis and the western forts, they also were cut from the budget in the past.... Drastic.?? A lot of the cuts involve obsolete systems or weapons. One thing that bothers me is there now is no way for us to get to the space station or any satellite to repair anything... Those developmental programs were cut LONG ago (before Obama) from NASA.. We now depend on Russian systems....dumb.

.. --No need to waste money but cheaper does not always mean better... Smart cars are cheaper but I don't want one for multiple reasons. When you need a large truck you NEED a large well equipped truck and not a bunch of little ones and it is too late to go buy one. .There is a fair size town near me that seems to vote down everything... well the state finally made them build a new school (condemned the old one) and utilities are a total mess now and falling apart. [ big fire occurred because fires plugs in an area were in-operative .. yes they had been inspected as required but not repaired ] Sometimes one just has to spend some money on what is needed, not what is cheap.. Looks like that is what they are not doing.

He kept getting elected even when in his 90's because of his earmarks (bringing home the bacon or pork ) to South Carolina... that is no secret. .

It is crazy now with all these out-of-town people here ... the scary thing is so many pickups with those "cow-catchers" on front. You lose if they run into you. --- Agree Rick ... seem so many of these "Holiday Inn Express" type hotels built that way that are almost all wood ... they look like a disaster waiting to happen and a lot of apartments here in Midland are being built that way as well... I hate to see anything over two or maybe three floors built that way... Older apartments/hotels here had concrete floors and cinder-block firewalls ... not these things. These things will not last that long either... and time is their enemy to wiring etc. Can't see stopping any fires once they start...
