  1. I tried to let everyone know about two weeks ago...........
  2. Hey everyone. This is Cullen Mills and I hate to inform you of this but I am not #5 that illuvius32 has been ranting about. I've previously kept my name disclosed but now that I'm no longer with the team, it doesn't really matter. I left the team this at the beginning of last season due to a torn pectoral muscle, along with other shoulder problems. I'm graduating this May, so whoever is sporting the new #5, best of luck to you but to my knowledge I have no clue who this is.
  3. If you noticed, towards the end of last season, Ransom played quit a bit of stand up end. I think his injuries played a big part in that but nonetheless he still played some of that position. I wish "Big Cat" T.J. Raymond was still here b/c he would be perfect to slide into the nose gaurd position in a 3-4. Chapman will definately stay in a 3-point stance and play the end position of the front. As stated earlier, the key will be who will play the nose gaurd spot. We need someone big who can take on a couple of blockers play in and play out in order to clog the middle up which allows for room in order for the LB's to make plays. The first person that comes to mind here is Sky Pruitt. He's got a big, wide body that will for sure take up some space in there. The other d-line position will be more like your traditional 3 or 4 tech. defensive tackle. This could be a wide range of people. I really like the move of Gilmore to a stand up end. He has very long arms and if he gets stronger, he will be a real presence speed rushing the from the outside edge.
  4. I understand that the 3-4 defense requires a lot from the D-line; however this allows us to get more of our most talented athletes on the field at once. The key will be who steps up at nose guard, given they will be the one who takes on the most double teams. A great fit would have been Booger but that is neither here nor there. Also, Gilmore won't play so much of a linebacker mode. Instead, it will be more on a stand up end that will rush the outside and play the flats.
  5. Hhhmmmmmmmmmm..... maybe my 3-4 prediction was correct for the Mean Green. I'm interested to know if Bleil has used the 3-4 scheme in the past. It just makes more sense given the strengths and weaknesses of our team (DL and LB). We have quit a bit of speed with our LB's, so I would love to see a more aggressive, blitzing D this season.
  6. I've heard that Thomas Dunston, one of last years graduate assistants, is going to be hired. Maybe as the TE coach?????
  7. Rumor has it that the Mean Green will spotted in a 3-4 defense next season. It makes sense given our depth at D-line. Plus Early will be back next year to add even more depth at linebacker. We'll be sure to find out in the next few weeks when spring ball starts. GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Very good point. Scott was looked at by bigger schools to play safety but he desired to play QB. Maybe theres something special inside those who truely want to play QB. You have to understand, Wilson is giving up quit an oppurtunity to play in the Big XII. Despite recent trends, Nebraska is still a very storied program. The same for Kansas State, who I think will bounce back in the next year or two. And, Kansas has made big strides the last two seasons.
  9. Correct me if you think I'm wrong here but this is my take on the overall quaterback situation................ If I were in Darrell Dickey AND Roman Flanigan's situiation, this would be my QB Depth Chart going into springball (knowing that Wilson will be here). (1)Matt Phillips (2)Woody Wilson vs. Daniel Meager Here's why; the most absolute necessity at the positon, and subsequently the team, is leadership. I believe to this point, and from what I've read this board, that the general consensus is that Phillips was the best QB at the end of the season. This was just about three weeks ago. That's not a long length of time to hand things over to someone you haven't seen live. Plus Wilson is fresh off an injury and Meager appeared to get pretty banged up. You have to make Woody Wilson prove himself as the leader of this football TEAM.... not just the offense. It was obvious that this football team lacked leadership this season (not to blame anyone b/c how youthul we were). Someone needs to take the reins and drive the horses. You don't just hand an entire offense to someone, you make the earn it. We need an entire spring full of fierce competition, across the board, to see who's going to be holding the reins come 9/2/06 in Austin. GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!
  10. I don't understand this decision. There are two games left in the season and we've seen Meager play is fair share of downs. More importantly we've seen what Meager can and can't do. At this point, Phillips needs to see more of the field so we can compare him to Meager heading into the spring. There is no confrence championship or winning streak on the line anymore. I say you play Phillips to see how reacts to the game time situations. I would also like to see how Meager would react to seeing less of the field (i.e. his leadership).
