Good article by Brett. Focused on the positives and the future rather than past failures.

Matthew, I hope that after you graduate, you are able to land a good job and that you remember your roots and continue to write excellent articles about the Mean Green. I enjoy reading your work.

Say yes to any bowl. The more exposure, the better.

Could be a lot of changes, and some may not be so good.
A few years back, some jackass at the Denton Wretched Chronicle (as some of us called it back then) was advocating that UNT drop athletics altogether. I remember several back and forth emails supporting UNT and having to remind him that no state funds go into supporting athletics. Dude definitely had an agenda. I sure hope we don't go back to that kind of $hite journalism.

please not army again in a bowl game since we play them the last game of the year.
please don't send us to the cotton bowl (hod) again. Lets have a change of scenery.
Let's go where we have the most exposure, biggest payout and can bring the most fans. If we have a choice at all.

All of these are factors. However, to me G-5 conference members need to admit that they're never going to get into the P-5 club and form regional conferences that would generate more interest from fans in general. It's been mentioned on this board a million times, but schools in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana should rekindle the old SWC. Tulsa, UNT, SMU, Houston, La. Tech, UTSA, Rice, UTEP and throw in a couple more would generate instant interest and rivalries in those areas. Better than trying to promote schools no one knows anything about.

I'm glad that UNT is starting to take its self seriously and that our AD is acting like a real Div. 1 program. I really like the progress we're making both athletically and academically.

It isn’t just losing it is an historic beat down in front a program so storied they had less that 7,000 fans there to watch their team crush us. If you were not long time fan of this team before this game, your fandom would waiver too most likely.
I have followed this team since 1989 and no, my fandom has never wavered. Pardon me for not being sympathetic. I have watched many embarrassing loses to teams big and small. If you want to jump ship, be my guest. Recently however, we have seen good things happen as a result of humiliating loses. Portland State brought about a positive change at the HC position and indirectly a change with a new AD. Great things have happened because the fans/alumni who stuck it out, demanded change, which we got. UNT is poised to go higher than we ever thought possible under this Administration. So, if snowflakes want to bail after one loss and find comfort in the big programs, and have their mommy's bring them cookies and milk before they go to bed, then have at it. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. I have no patience with those who haven't the stomach for the fight. See you Saturday night in black.

My bet is they will. Nothing like getting your asses whipped to wake up competitive athletes. Look for a big win this Saturday.

That group of UNT alums might now be up to 4 (maybe even 5 by kick-off). My former UNT roommate said by all means get him a ticket (again) because he really likes the Apogee Game Day environment, especially as it was for utsa. Forget FAU! It's done! Over! No one has committed suicide last I heard.
I'll be up in Mean Green Country this Tuesday to get (up to 4) tickets for the North Texas/ODU game this Saturday with its 5:30 PM kick-off. Meeting a fellow alum at the Ranchmen's Cafe in Ponder for lunch.
FWIW and that might be about .02 but.....I am intrigued with the development of this football team---setbacks and all. Can't wait until both DL's are in the Defensive lineup. Maybe its this week for both?
YES WE DO! We finally have all pistons running at the same time in Denton, folks. An upwardly mobile UNT administration & Board of Regents who see the need to upgrade across the board & are raising serious money (the Indoor Practice Facility as one example) to prove they are all about action.
Easy to say that the IPF will be the 2'nd most important venue at the Mean Green Village upon completion.
>>>>>>>>>> When we first started playing Darrell Royal's Texas Longhorns in the 70''s, UT students still showed up en mass against some school called North Texas (State). Who the UT opponent was didn't matter to their students. They still packed their section. Back then, UT gave us decent sideline seats and we brought thousands of Mean Green fans.
Beat ODU!

Plumm, you are one of the most ardent, dedicated Mean Green fans I've ever seen. God bless you and...GO MEAN GREEN!

I've got to say that the knee jerking after today's disaster is much less than I anticipated. Most of us, while obviously very disappointed in the result, understand that the season will go on and that we have all of the same goals still in our reach. This game, no matter how ugly and embarrassing, only counts for one loss in the standings.
We'll see what this team is made of next week. I expect them to show up and play much better and beat OD.

Big, emotional win last week and FAU had two weeks to prepare. Not making excuses, just making an observation. Bound to happen to everyone. However, I would like to see a little fight. Maybe and second half showing to make it somewhat respectable.

So if Tech finishes near the bottom of the Big 12 again, do they come after Littrell and Co? He is a Leach protégé and could bring Harrell with him. Would Littrell leave us and go to Texas Tech?

Anyone at the game to give live weather reports?

I hate posting this, but I cannot attend the game on Saturday. There is a family function that can't be avoided. I don't want my tickets to go unused, so I am donating them to anyone who will use them, parking pass included. Sec.107, Row 2, seats 4 and 5. Chair backs also. PM me and we'll make arrangements.
