  1. You simply cannot trust politicians. Ever.

All politicians are for sale. Power will corrupt. These people are after one thing only... power. Regardless of which party you identify with, 99.9% of people who run for any kind of public office are power-hungry, untrustworthy, elitist a-holes with an almost non-existant desire to represent you or me.

Sorry for the rant... I promise I'll never comment on politics again! Have a nice day. Go Mean Green!

  2. If FIU makes it past Denver and MT, we may not get to the finals.

I doubt that will happen because Denver's style will probably frustrate FIU to no end.

I think MT is disciplined enough to beat Denver, and barring a Tyren Johnson explosion, UNT should advance. The UNT/MT matchup is a little scary. We haven't lost since our game in M'boro, so I think the guys will have a little revenge to play for.

As for the other bracket, I can see Troy possibly losing to the SA/FAU winner and I think whoever wins between WKU & ASU will make it to the finals with us. Hopefully, it's WKU. Not only because I think beating WKU would look better for UNT in the eyes of the selection committee, but I just don't like our matchup with ASU at all.

  3. I think this is a fantastic idea.

For all the negatives to complain about with Fouts, it is the place of many memories for everyone on this board.

I'm glad the A.D. is sending it out in style.

I know in the future, I'll look over from the new place at the parking garage that will be there and remember the good 'ol days!

  4. The opening segment was about the NCAA wanting to expand the tourny to ~96 teams and Collin Cowherd talked about how it would dilute the tournament and how hard it is to watch the first round as it is.

He said bringing teams like "North Texas State" and UNLV would water it down.

Maybe UNT should have not gone back to Scrappy from Eppy. Rodney Dangerfield would have been a better mascot.

Collin Cowherd dilutes sports talk radio.

  5. I mean, not to sound overly optimistic, but outside of Clemson and K-State, the rest of these games should be deemed "winnable". We've also never had a better chance to beat a Big 12 conference member (not named Baylor) better than this coming season. We get them at the end of the year (maybe) in a "home" game... that could be a great benefit.

I agree. I think all games outside of maybe Clemson (no more Spiller though) are win-able. 6 home games and only 1 'body bag' game is about all we can ask for with our current situation.

  6. Gotta love this hire with all of the experience. Going from a 6 years total of College Off. Coord. & Wide Receivers coaching experience to almost 50 years of College/NFL experience should bode well for the Mean Green. Congrats Dodge/Villareal on two fantastic hires!

  7. I know RV said on the pod cast that the spring practice would start just before spring break and then go on after it. I am not even sure when UNT's Spring Break is scheduled this year.

Plus any news on the Spring Game?

Lets have us a GMG.COM Tailgate, I understand the Player parents will be Tailgating. I can bring my Cheesy Sausage balls or my Sausage Stuffing Balls. Humm Balls!!!

Also as the Spring Game approaches doesn't the GMG.com Bowl also need to be scheduled?

So many questions so little time.

I would definitely be up for tailgating and meeting some of you guys at the spring game.

  8. Misleading post title. The question was answered. Story does say that Gandy is planning to stay at North Texas.

I certainly hope coach Gandy decides to stick around, but he may just be waiting around for other options to develop and in the meantime, he's "planning to stay at North Texas." He deserves the attention...

  9. What is the story on Tyren Johnson? That guy looked like he could suit up for any AQ school. We played really nice defense on him in the first half, but then when UNT started to pull away in the second, it became the Tyren Johnson show. He's the only reason that game was close. If he wasn't so sloppy with his feet (travelled 2-3 times), he would have had more pts too.
