Wisconsin
That's an interesting question, I forgot about Tanner. Last I heard, he was forgoing his final year at SMU and then commits to Wisconsin, 2 minutes after entering the portal. Do you guys think, something was going on behind the scenes with with Wisconsin?

No matter how well intended, the entire NIL is a corrupted process. The Collectives working independently of the schools? Bullshit. The system was put in place, or forced into place, by Judges and Politicians who could care less about the game of college football. There seems to be such a fear of being blacklisted by naming names that it makes you wonder if the first coach or player who does it well must enter witness protection. The NCAA is spineless and has no way to control it. Their (NCAAs) main concern is staying a relevant figurehead and keeping their salaries.
Going by reports on the board here, Siggers left because he was going to be a backup, Robertson entered the portal because of a defensive system change, who else have they come after?

So, Siggers left the $mu $$ on the table to go play for UIW? I doubt UIW is paying him anything.
Good point.

He’s talented and played well in our 4 man front. I’m thinking he would have struggled in the 3 man. He clearly wanted to stay close to home. This made the most sense for him. From a UNT fan and a hater of all things SMU….this kind of sucks, though. Eff’n ponies.
I thought when he visited Colorado last weekend, he would go with Prime Time.

Eh . . . at the time, it made pretty good sense; even though anyone who transfers to SMU is automatically disowned. He got knocked way down the depth chart here, and he went to SMU to be a clear #2 and got several starts. He probably would not be one of the top 2 backs here this coming season.
The Mustangs have brought in two 5 star and a 4 star running back, he knows he wouldn't have got any playing time.

Who else offered him?

Our draw is not that easy, you are just less familiar with those teams. It is, however, way better than our typical draw of getting Cincy UH UCF and Memphis somehow every year
Common since doesn't connect with many over here, they live in constant victimhood. These people finally get their wish, with a Conference membership with SMU and the "poor little UNT" whining continues before the season has even started. Thank goodness we don't play TCU, these mental midgets would have to get rid of their purple died hair and nose rings.

Take a look at the AAC 2023 football schedules and you will see some really interesting things going on, in particular with SMU.
It is shocking how easy of a draw SMU has received in conference this season. To put this in perspective, in 2023, UNT will play Tulane (AAC conf champs) , UTSA (cusa conf champs), and UAB who is always tough no matter what. SMU on the other hand will NOT play Tulane, UAB, UTSA... instead they get Charlotte, Rice and ECU.
Seems like SMU will be the favorite to win the AAC title next season before it even starts. Wonder how that happened?
They have to play a really good ECU team on the road, on a Thursday night and at Memphis. It's been a long time, since SMU beat either of those teams on the road. If they do pull off those games and win the division, they will probably play Tulane or UTSA for the Championship. To suggest SMU bought their schedule, is beyond ridiculous. Let's take care of UNT's business and just go beat them.

Not 100% sure, but I think someone on the TCU board said he just scheduled a visit to SMU.

I thought someone said he ends up at UH?

Man wants to play P5 ball and secure a large chunk of NIL money, he's already proven himself in the G5 by becoming an All-American.
Coaches do what's best for themselves, glad the kids can too. If he was transferring to UNT, you guys would be jumping for joy.
Unfortunately, what you are saying is true, but sometimes truth just doesn't sit well for a few of our fans. We could have offered as well. look at Roberts that went to Baylor, I hear he signed a big NIL deal. Either we get involved, or we will fall further behind.

Come join us on On3
Since I keep up with what's going on in the state and nationally, I have a premium membership to On3. I must admit, I was very surprised, at how large the SMU site is and the amount of traffic over there. Seems like you not only big numbers, but many younger people involved.

Rumblings of some news tomorrow, and hint that it won't be pretty. Let's see if it's actually something or just rumors. It could end up being nothing.
Do we want SMU to stay in the AAC or go? If they stay, it's a positive because they are one of the most prestigious, if not the most in the conference, but if they go, UNT would be the only team in the area in the AAC.

Good timing. Our AD isn't competent enough to make it intentional.

Well, the quick answer is elitism. The very reason why smu wants out of our series and/or not be affiliated with us in a conference. They truly think they're elite, better than us. Not just athletically, but every way of life.
I've seen nothing that SMU wants out of our series, didn't they recently sign an extension with UNT? Have our people reached out to TCU? The TCU campus is 39 miles and the SMU campus is 41 miles from UNT, so why are we not pursuing a series from the Frogs?

The big media deal reveal for the PAC12 (and expansion news) that was supposed to happen today, didn't. Just crickets. Next PAC CEO meeting is March 21.
I would imagine having lawyers representing ESPN, Amazon and Apple all at the table, would be a complicated process.

Thank you, and your cohorts, for the open invitation for all of us to participate freely and often on the PonyFans.com site.
I think that site is pretty dead, they do have a big group that's very active at ON3.

lol. Its going to be fun revisiting this thread from time to time.
Most of our fans, seem to be hoping you guy's don't get in a P5 or the PAC-12 in this case, but, the way SMU has been recruiting and investing in facilities, I'm hoping you do move on. Much easier path to the championship for UNT, if SMU moves to the PAC-12.
