Well well well... The high school coach "good ol boy" candidate network is failing at UNT. I am extremely disappointed yet not surprised in the least by the recent performances by UNT football. While football in Texas is incredibly stacked and should be heavily focused and recruited on, you CAN'T keep your small mindset in the world of college athletics and treat college football like high school. This is NOT TEXAS HS FOOTBALL. You are playing on a national level and are competing with the entire nation in regards to talent, players, facilities, and all aspects of this game.

Honestly, the athletic department deserves everything they are getting. They chose to take an easy, lazy, and pathetic approach to hiring Morris. They could have had Nick Fuentes or literally anybody with high quality experience and connections, yet the AD let his local homebody arrogance get in the way and chose to hire a glorified high school amateur at best. NO national search, just hiring whoever he's heard about in his small group of good ol boys.

And for those who say "wait for basketball"...... Oh boy are you in for a treat, THE EXACT SAME THING IS HAPPENING IN HOOPS. Lazy hirings, pathetic recruiting and portal acquisitions that do not improve the roster AT ALL from the previous year. I mean how stupid can the athletic department be?????

Get ready for Hell boys.... You chose to play TX high school football at a NCAA D1 level.... Get f&cking ready

Everything was ehh until this really really bad take. Ross hit the portal well, they have more depth than ever, and they got back 3 of their key guys from last year minus TP. Ross has had plenty of years being a head coach and basically ran the defense under Mac. NT should finish top 4 at least this year, even with a much tougher schedule.

See yourself out the door on the basketball take because you didn’t do your research.

As a quick reminder, Mendoza's defense gave up 45.1 points per game in 2007 only to be bested by Gary DeLoach's paper curtain defense that gave up 47.6 points per game in 2008.

Caponi has far exceeded both of those defensive masterminds and jumped out to an impressive lead to be the worst ever by giving up an average of 52 points per game so far.

LaTech should help pad these impressive stats next Saturday by busting through the 60 point barrier.  Caponi is truly a rare find.  So glad the HC and AD signed off on his hiring.  A feather in both of their caps that they can be proud of for years to come.

I really didn’t think anyone could have a worst scheme/defense than Bowen or even Mendoza, but here we are lol.

I think they looked into how Iowa State played defense way too much and failed to realize they are more talented and bigger and stronger and quicker.

At the end of the day, I think we’d all agree we’d rather see our team lose in an incredibly entertaining game than win in boring fashion. It’s sports. Just entertainment that has no bearing on our actual lives. When we sit down to watch sports we want entertainment value and all the lead changes provided just that.

    Agreed!

No way we lose tonight under Seth Littrell.  Remember, less than 1 year ago: 52-14.  Not saying I want him back though.

Unfortunately agree and if we had Aune at QB, we would’ve also won lol. Sucks to say that

Trying to get this thread back on track. Any ideas on a pregame?

Lmaooo well I’m waiting for some other fans to come in on their flight at the airport, and really thinking about heading to the Miami/A&M game for a half or so. Like 40 dollar tickets 15 rows up

There were quite a few Cal fans in the Hub Club.  Actually, in the section of the club level I was in, there may have been more Cal fans that UNT fans.

Put in grass and the field will look fantastic all the time.  And have a better home-field advantage to boot since grass fields are pretty rare these days.  Call me old school but grass is better ... especially for the players.

Yeah that would look awesome but that’s a lot of maintenance/money we don’t have clearly if we can’t even get our AC up.

But I will say this bouncing off of what the main topic is about. That’s not very different than what it looks like in real life. The actual green color on the field is way more “worn” looking than Tulane who I think replaced their turf like the last 1-2 years, we did it in 2018. And not to mention they had their lights on because it was a 6:00 kick and that makes even our turf look a bit brighter.

The TV presentation was much better, and looking at what UTEP had to deal with yesterday, we are blessed beyond belief. Scoreboards were working, it was probably the best game day operations in a while.

Interesting take.  What results make you say that recruiting has improved?  We looked very slow and unathletic on the field Saturday against what should be mediocre competition.  Were we holding our good recruits for later in the season?

Well his job is to recruit the guys and create an atmosphere at UNT that kids want to be at, not coach/train them...

Agreed. Change everything. Start with the front 7 and run schemes. Both were pathetic.

Lose that 1, burn it to the ground.

I'm not sure NT can lose this game lol

And the very small chance they do, the season would be declared over and we sit and wait for basketball to start lol

I looked at the box scores from yesterday for a few games. It seems our guys that left via the portal had minimal impact at their transfer destinations.

Jake Roberts 1 catch 1 yard (Baylor)

    Jyaire Shorter 0 stats (Auburn)

    Larry Nixon 0 stats (Auburn)

    Var'Keyes Gumms 0 stats (Arkansas)

    Asher Albersing 0 stats (Cal)

    Cameron Robertson 0 stats (SMU)

DeShawn Gaddie Jr. 1 tackle (Ole Miss)

The Roberts one baffles me, Baylor looked horrible last night smh
