Careful with MHver3 because they have been all over the place with their information and predictions.
The AAC exit fee is $10M with a 27 month waiting period. PAC4 can’t wait 27 months because they need a new TV deal ASAP. Because of this, the PAC4 don’t have the leverage to just poach schools which is why a full merger makes the most sense.
The only way to avoid the $10M fee and 27 month waiting period is if the AAC outright dissolves. For that to happen, 11 out of 14 AAC schools would need to vote YES to dissolve. I'm guessing the 4 AAC schools ready to jump are... SMU, Tulane, USF, & Memphis.
That leaves 7 other schools needing to vote YES to pull this off. As long as the CUSA6 hold the line together, they can kill any attempt to dissolve the conference. I swear to God, CUSA6 hold the effing line!

In order to ensure the top two teams play each other in the conference championship and therefore increase the odds for the College Football Playoffs, I could also see 5 team pods form.
Pod 1: WSU, OSU, Stanford, Cal, SDSU
Pod 2: AF, SMU, Rice, Tulane, Navy
Pod 3: UNT, UTSA, Tulsa, Memphis, UAB
Pod 4: USF, FAU, Charlotte, ECU, Temple
SEC is already considering Pod scheduling as they become a super conference.

Bruh. This is THE move. Our estimated TV take home money in the Pac/AAC league would be $10M. That’s a huge step up from what we’ve been getting in CUSA and is significantly more that reduced share we’re scheduled to receive in the current AAC. This merger would elevate our program to new heights. Let’s go Aresco. 🙏🏼

Depends on how the “new” conference wants to align. If travel is the biggest concern, the furthest east teams should be the most worried.
Looking eastward… Temple and Charlotte have heartburn as well.

time to start speculating who gets the boot if this scenario plays out
1. If true, Aresco would open up the American to lawsuits and damages in the tens of millions of dollars by the teams kicked out.
2. Also, Why would Aresco negotiate a deal with Oliver Luck to basically put himself out of a job?

It's pretty pathetic that the OP thinks that his school being embarrassed and passed over is "fun".
Seriously! This has to be the best self-own of all time. I wish our admins would pin this to the top of the message board for eternity.

Been listening to way too many podcasts, but one guy referred to us as The U of North Texas several times.
At least it wasn't North Texas State.
Close my eyes and I can see it now

Was doesn't a Stanford donor just money-whip one of those programs to change their vote to a Yes?
Maybe a mystery donation of say of $30M to upgrade a Florida State athletic facility?
FSU has been crying lately about being money short anyway, and wanting out of the ACC to get more revenue.
Good question. I’d imagine it’s a few reasons. First, the addition of Cal and Stanford doesn’t move the needle and would result in a lower share of TV revenue per year for the current ACC schools. Cal & Stanford clearly aren’t desperate enough to pull an SMU and forgo ACC TV revenue for 5 years.
Secondly, this puts pressure on ND to give up their independence and join the ACC as a full member… which they clearly don’t want to. ND does move the needle and their addition to the ACC would further solidify the ACC’s position as a Power conference, leading to a much larger TV deal.

According to Bleacher Report ACC is one vote short of adding Cal & Stanford

Well, then I assume that it will take place sometime around mid-morning at the IPF. Otherwise, if it was at the stadium, they would have to start at daybreak.
If the current weather system stays in place until Sept 2nd, we are going to be in a world of hurt. With it starting @ 3 PM, they are going to have to give away straw hats and specialty cooling towels instead of those cotton promotional towels they've given away for decades.
Either that, or they need to suspend their umbrella ban just for this one game.
I strongly encourage you to buy this Nike Dri-FIT bucket hat from Academy. I used it a few weeks ago filming an outdoor spot for Oklahoma Joe's Smokers in 107 degree heat. It's a game changer. Toss a little water in that bad boy and you're good to go.

Would the AAC be 16 teams with the inclusion of the PAC 4 orphans ? That would reduce the per school payout unless the AAC 16 would be more attractive thereby creating a more lucrative deal ??
AAC currently has 14 football members. Adding the PAC 4 would take us to 18 football members and most likely create East/West divisions to cut down on travel costs. AAC's TV deal with ESPN allows for renegotiation if/when the AAC adds teams of value. Adding four P5 schools in the Pacific time zone would definitely create a more lucrative deal.
It would not surprise me to see ESPN overpay a little in order to entice the PAC 4 and keep them out of the MWC. I've heard the rumor that the PAC 4 would receive full TV revenue shares while UNT and the other five CUSA additions would stay at their reduced TV share.
Aresco has his work cut out for him but with ESPN's backing, he could negotiate a win-win for everyone. So long as Cal & Stanford's educational elitism doesn't get in the way.

SMU does not generate enough media revenue on its own, if given and equal split, existing ACC schools would earn less money. The thought that SMU will forgo revenue sharing for 5 years would put them at a major deficit compared to schools in the ACC that bring in $40+ million a year in addition to their own donors.
Apparently they have a group of donors willing to commit to $200M, spread out over 5 years, to offset the loss in TV revenue. SMU and their fans are in a sad state of desperation.

Just hours after UNT kicked SMU’s arse, SMU would make decisions that few knew then would basically take amateurism completely out of NCAA FBS football.

Y'all, SMU is having a tough morning. After last week's desperation ACC Hail Mary and now this... Pony pride has to be at an all-time low.
