I don't think Army will accept but that's the first call. Army last year 1/3rd of their schedule was Sun Belt and 1/2 their losses were to Sun Belt. They've sort of figured out a niche. They understand the bowl oversupply means they're going to find a slot. CBSSN gives them love.

“The realignment certainly gets your attention,” Army athletic director Mike Buddie said. “We weigh that option every year. We value our independence so much, it just hasn’t made sense for us up to this point. But the shifting tides of conference realignment, expanded college football playoff, all those things could play a factor in re-evaluating.”

Go get 'em, Mike. Then let's grab CSU, SDSU, UNLV, Boise, and Air Force to get to 20. Tulsa would probably get moved to an Eastern Division, but at least we'd still have a few decent drive partners in UTSA, Rice, CSU, and Air Force.

Mike kicked the tires and they quickly deflated. AAC westward expansion is off the table.

Much like umbrellas, schools won't allow things like metal flasks or Yetis because they could be used as a projectile or striking object by a drunk and upset fan.

Speaking of Yetis, it pisses me off I can’t order a customized UNT Yeti.

Want a North Dakota one? Two options. North Dakota State? Two options. SMU, two options. Hell even UTSA has an option.

Stanford is still the main meat on the bone for any deal, but they seem set on going their own way. 🍖

ESPN won’t pay nearly as much for any Stanford-less deal.  Once these schools (Ore St, Wash St, Cal) move on without them then the real deals can begin to form and take life.

True, however ESPN still badly wants the West coast timezone to compete with FOX & CBS. They need to put enough money on the table to make it worth WSU, OSU, & Cal's time and travel costs. Also forward looking, ESPN recognizes that the AAC will need to poach some schools from the MWC (SDSU, Boise St, AF, etc) in two years so the renegotiated TV deal better have some "meat on the bone".
