  1. We ended up calling and were able to get the specific new seats we wanted a section over in 110 - almost double the amount of our previous section (as it was last year too), but worth it!  We weren't able to do that online for whatever reason, but the ticket office was helpful.  August 31, we're ready for you!

  2. I just heard the announcer say Woolridge is not dressed out for today's game. What did I miss? Is he injured? Fingers crossed Duffy gets out there today!

Also, the camera shakes from the video crew on the sides of the court (not the main full-court camera) are reminding me of a really terrible ODU Football video crew. It's either shaky or it's way too zoomed in on the players. I spoke too soon - At about 17:30, the main camera did not get down the court when we had the ball on offense. Draper for the 3 made up for it on the next possession.

I was looking for the content online and can't find it.  Does anyone know where a link might be found?

I believe they have posted a link on Twitter - check the @meangreenFB Twitter; if not there, I think I saw that Wren retweeted something after he went on.

  4. I may be late here and you may already be recording, but ... What does our kicking team look like with Hedlund no longer here?  How accurate are our new kickers on a scale of 1 to Trevor Moore?

    Looking forward to the podcast!

*Edited to add* Sorry, I just realized you said "Recruiting" podcast, so my question may not apply. 🙂

Looking at the list I was taken by the #7 guy from FIU.   Look at the stands there is nobody there.   I assume it is an offical game because they are at the coin toss.  I know we struggle with attendance but that is bad.

I didn't even notice that.  That is pitiful! It looks like they are playing Marshall (only us and them are that bright shade of green).  I have actually been decently impressed with our attendance this past year (except the So Miss game - pitiful people can't even come when it's raining) for the most part.  Compared to what it used to be. Apogee better be sold out when we play Houston this year!

  6. No surprise Devin Singletary is #1.  As much as Rice was/is terrible, Jack Fox had some INCREDIBLE punts in our game against them last year - This is also coming from a girl whose younger and older brothers were FG/kickoff kickers and punters, so we notice kicks in our family.  They were extremely high, which is obviously good strategy to give your players more time to get down the field, but he had distance on them too.  He had a great year, even though Rice as a whole was bad.  Definitely an under-rated kicker.

Prediction: We will see Mason Fine and maybe 1-2 others on here next year.

  7. A far better headline for the front page could have been the "UNT starts year 2-0 - First time since '09" or even something commending Rodney Long's first season and the positive start he had over the weekend. Highlighting the wins on the homepage of a newspaper, or even anything more positive, would make me want to read an article.

  8. For some reason, I like their page on Facebook, so I'll occasionally see articles on my home page as I scroll - Lately, it seems like majority of their articles are just trash.

One thing is for sure - They need to stop their opinion pieces. They wrote one when the whole Seth-leaving debacle was going on (back in late October/early November I think) and talked about how he "has no place in larger conferences." Who comes up with this stuff?

It has been apparent on numerous occasions that there is no one with sports knowledge, let alone football knowledge (not just with UNT but other schools as well - i.e. even mentioning Applewhite as a replacement), on that staff. These guys have got to stop or just refresh this entire staff.

  9. Did I see this correctly earlier (I originally saw it on Glassdoor as I have job alerts setup for ‘content’ in the position title) - Is Brett Gemas (Director of Creative Content for MG Sports) leaving? He is the guru behind all of the legit graphics we’ve seen from all the teams’ Twitter accounts. It looks like we are in the market for his replacement on the MG Sports site.

I sure hope he trained someone before he left - or there is another creative mastermind in our midst!

Tap the brakes...this is a 20+ winning team, cut them some slack.  Only two years ago we were wondering if we would even qualify for the C-USA tournament.

You're right.  I am cutting them some slack - I totally agree this program looks completely different than it did 2 years ago.

  11. I just asked this in another thread as well - Does anyone know?  It is tough watching them play without him - not that it is a one-man show whatsoever - It just seems like something is missing.  The past month we have seemed off, hardly making FG shots, not driving the lane, and need to shake things up a little/need help overall.  Hoping he is back soon!

    Yes.

Over time this will be the rule for everyone.  Almost all the internal parking lots are slated to be used for actual buildings in the future.   A handful of faculty/staff will have spots on this side of the highway.  Everyone else will park across the street and bus over to campus.

Of course this is long timeline.

@Cerebus @Cowtown  As a freshman back in my day, I would not have found this very enticing.  I stayed in Maple and for the most part was able to find parking in that lot my first semester (I tore my ACL that November, so I had a handicap sign most of my 2nd semester and had little issue finding a parking spot).  It seems like this would be such a pain, but I also don't know much about the logistics (i.e. how often busses come - if they run on weekends, 24 hours in a day, etc.).  If I live in a dorm, ideally, I want to be able to park at least near it.  I can't imagine having to make it across a highway just to get to my dorm.  That stinks that the strip mall is privately owned - that would be perfect for additional parking for those dorms.

  13. When is Duffy expected to be back?  I feel like his loss has been noticeable (in addition to some of our piss-poor shooting) for almost the past month.  I haven't seen how long he is out or if he is expected to return any time soon - Anyone know?

  14. So, it's Sunday, February 3, 2019. The announcement on Friday didn't happen (or if it did, I missed it). When will they be announcing the new hires and will it include all 3 positions (including the new OC hire) or just the other 2 positions filled?  Thanks for all the updates/info on potential candidates on the subject!

I must have missed the D-back leaving.  Not surprised he did a pretty good job with the first string cb but the guys behind him not so much.  Where did he end up going?

DRC tweeted earlier in January about Coach Brown not returning stating FootballScoop posted about it earlier that day: https://www.dentonrc.com/sports/unt-cornerbacks-coach-nate-brown-will-not-return-next-season/article_4b8d17c0-8d4c-5773-b5b6-f0bab4545c71.html

Not sure where Brown will end up, but his fiance also currently teaches at an elementary school in Denton.  Recently on another thread, someone mentioned these 2 positions (RBs/CBs) have already been filled, just waiting to announce for whatever reason.

  16. Realistically, we should win our division conference.  Next - We have a great chance to win our overall conference (and should win IMO).  Next - We have a great chance to at least get to a Bowl game ... That is where my toss-up would be if we win or lose that.  Even if he loses a Bowl game, he could still be poached if the rest of his season was decent or better.  Regardless if the season doesn't live up to "expectations" (which vary greatly), I highly doubt anyone from UNT will be "firing" SL, regardless of how well he does/doesn’t do.  He is the best thing to happen to this program in a long time, in addition to his staff.  I think going into the season, we need to worry more about making sure Mason Fine stays healthy for the long haul.  Just my opinion.

KG was USC’s head coach in waiting at $3m a year. This will not be the case for Graham! With the Texas connections and experience as a USC OC I could definitely see him as a candidate for the future HC job at UNT!  Is it important for us to hire an OC that has HC potential?

Wouldn't it be smart of us to be looking at OC's that may have HC potential?  We will more than likely be going through all the Seth Littrell poaching drama towards the end of the 2019 season again (granted if we are ranked on top/towards the top, like we should be) - I could see Mainord being HC (I think), who I like, however, if SL does leave, the chances of him taking at least some of the coaches with him are probably pretty high.  It would be ill-advised if we weren't already thinking ahead to the 2020 season.  But, like others have said back towards the end of the 2018 season, Wren and Associates are probably already thinking ahead this way as well, as they should be.
